A fantastic room in a former cave dwelling, fear not, the room and the bathroom are most definitely 21st century, with modern furnishings and a very comfy huge bed. Access to the property is down some steps into a courtyard area, from there depending on your room you may have a few steps back up, as we did, but that gave us a fantastic view across to the empty caves on the other side of the town. Breakfast is served at the tables in the courtyard and was excellent, more like a small lunch, (bread meat cheese cakes yogurt coffee). Parking is in one of two places, we chose the slightly nearer one 250m which was a multi storey. Francesco our host was very helpful.

Amazing and very characterIstic room, perfect location to explore Matera! Staff was great and very helpful and breakfast was very good, best one so far on our trip. Definitely recommended!

A great position close to everything .

I didn’t realise the bedroom was upstairs and not much room for suitcases. But probably my fault for not reading the description properly. Also some fruit at breakfast would be nice.

I find it a tad expensive, although, all in all worth it. Also, quite heavy to reach if you are with suitcases, but i guess, it is the nature of the location.

Absolutely beautifully renovated. We loved the spa bath and shower room. Easy to find and well signposted. Very nice patio area for enjoying an alfresco breakfast. Added bonus to find an Amazon Echo Dot inside the room.

To be honest there wasn't anything to really criticise other than perhaps adding a coffee pod machine to the kettle that was available.

The location was convenient and the room was clean and comfortable. Our room on the 2nd floor had a great view. E-mail communication was smooth and I received a reply immediately. As for the restaurant reservation, We was able to have a wonderful time because they reserved the seat I wanted with a good view.

It was difficult to carry heavy suitcases as we had to climb a long flight of stairs to get to the hotel. We were a little disappointed to have to pay to help out.

Original Sassi house, really beautifull restaurated. Easy to get there, not far from parking. Very good breakfast. Nice people.

Very good breakfast, also very good glutenfree option. Friendly and very helpful staff. Great location, quite and yet very central close to all sights. Well designed rooms with all facilities and beautiful view. I will definately recommend this hotel to my friends.

Location wasn’t clear it’s in an “area pedonale” so expect to drag your suitcase along the pathways up and down uneven steps.
