My mom and dad went here on their honeymoon so it was a bit of a sentimental journey. Hotel is beautiful!
We request 2 queen beds but were given one king instead. They did upgrade us to a suite.

The lobby is nice.
The first time we went to the Cavalier, we were so impressed with the service and enthusiasm of the staff that it made up for over priced stay. This last time was a disappointment. We carried our own luggage from the car with no help from the staff. The waitress at Becca's didn't know what Grand Marnier was and came to the table with two drinks that looked like margaritas. When we then explained what the after dinner drink was, she came back with a thimble size amount and we were charged $17 for the drink. When it was delivered, we noted how little was in the glass and made a comment and she said "Oh, did you want a double?" We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner and when she showed up with the bottle she noticed there were no glasses, she set the bottle on a ledge behind our table and told us she would be right back. I then saw her delivering food to other tables and walking all over the restaurant. She finally came back with two glasses and made some type of apology. Then the next morning when we were having breakfast I told the waitress that we had paid for breakfast in our room package and she asked where were our vouchers. I went to the check-in area and talked to the person in-charge who went through a series of explanations that made no sense. When they found our vouchers it was for the wrong day. (the morning we checked in and not the morning we checked out, we didn't arrive at the hotel until after 2:00 p.m. on the check-in day). It was my partner's birthday and it was a lot of money for a very mediocre experience. The windows were dirty in our room so that the view of the water was murky and our other room in the suite was facing the parking lot. I had hoped to be pampered because that is what I had experienced the first time.

Beautiful, historic, easy access to great beach
Unusually poor service, laughably overpriced restaurants

What a beautiful hotel and very nice staff. It was beautiful, clean and welcoming. I went with my husband and kids, we all liked it, my younger son didn’t even want to leave. The hotel is close to the beach less than 5 mins walk, there’s a beach club with a pool and access to the bed. The indoor swimming pool at the hotel. Let’s just say we were never short of something to do.
There were a lot of flies at the restaurants in the hotel, Becca as well as the beach club restaurant Tulu , which made it sometimes nearly impossible to eat or give up eating cause flies landed on your food or drink. Other than that, we loved every bit of our stay.

Everything!! The room and property were very nice. We appreciated that the pool/beach club was only for hotel guests. All the staff members were super friendly and helpful.

the doormen were very friendly; the hotel was beautiful and the spa was amazing
I did not receive housekeeping services until i had to request it on the 3rd day. It was very difficult to arrange for room service. The phone was constantly busy and i had to walk downstairs and sit and wait for someone to take my order. I also had no idea if breakfast was an option or how to go about receiving it.

I love the 1920’s feel! never change that!

The staff was amazing, really went out of their way. Tons to do at the resort, the beach is walking distance, and the hotel room was amazing.
Bed was a little too firm. Didn’t sleep great.

When my husband and I checked in on Valentines Day, at first they could not find our booking then the manager looked at it and saw that our booking was changed to Feb 13 instead without my knowledge, no confirmation was sent, and they did not have a record of whoever did that. We have a booking at Becca that night so we just decided to stay. We got a garden view queen room instead of the king suite ocean view that I booked. Apparently all king suites were fully booked that night so we can’t get one anymore. It is very upsetting to experience this and for sure it can happen to anyone because the staff cannot even explain how that happened. I learned that this hotel does not guarantee your room after booking. I was so excited to stay here for the occasion but it was just pure disappointment. Cavalier definitely did not live up to its reputation.

Our stay exceeded my expectations. Lovely staff and property. Luxurious and comfortable.

Everything you need is available on the grounds, restaurants, bars and very close to the beach.
I prefer not to have valet, but it seemed like the only option.

Lovely old building with a lot of history. The Christmas decorations were fantastic.
The use of the spa (which we were entitled to for staying at the hotel) was a hassle. You have to book in two very specific slots (11am and 4pm), you didn’t get a locker, you could only use some of the facilities, and it generally felt like an annoyance to the spa staff, who clearly want to prioritise spa clients. However, it was impossible to find a spa slot to book in the 4 days we were there.

it was magical. it was absolutely beautiful, clean and the delicious cookies they gave you every night was just wonderful. The lunch service was exceptional.
This Hotel is very good for a solo I felt VERY safe.
The Marriott is just a short walk away and you can use all the amenities there and charge to your room when dining at any of there restaurants.
Everyone should meet Missy a server at TULU, she was just so pleasant.
Jonathan at ORION’S was so nice I went back for another lunch.
At the Cavalier Hotel restaurant BECCA, for lunch Michael, R. just made my stay so satisfying.
I will definitely stay at this amazing hotel again. My lovely suite was so fabulous that I’m going to decorate my Manhattan apartment some what like the Elegant CAVALIER HOTEL in Virginia Beach

the location the beach club and the vibe
none of the restaurants were that good. nacho
cheese not melted. soup too salty, no taste on the
main course. bread took forever to get there even
though we asked different people 4 times.
disappointed.
also the duct work was so loud at night that it kept
everyone up I’m the room. couldn’t use the spa
because there were too many people they said.
Even the sauna which I thought was suppose to
be a basic amenity. The spa said to book six weeks out
ahead and that would have been helpful to know at
booking.

Beautiful entranceway, grounds, lobby, and indoor swimming pool. Becca restaurant was fabulous!
We had a king suite Room 206 on the second floor in front of the hotel that was $800 per night, but the carpeting was wrinkled and torn up in several places, and in the bathroom water out of the shower leaked into a corner which had rotted the wood and underneath the door. I would think for how much the room is per night that attention to detail would be necessary.
