The attention to detail to integrate the integrity of the caves with the modern amenities was the highlight of the property. Service was exceptional and the staff was very flexible.

It was a long way to negotiate our luggage from the car park (500m away) and down the slippery road. Would be a great idea for accommodations to offer a tuktuk service, even if just for luggage. Would have been happy to pay as the weather was very hot. Ditch the paper cups in the hotel room and put in glasses and cups for guests instead. Check everything working (bedside light & rubbish bin). Minor things, but overall we'd definitely stay again as it was so charming

The hotel was amazing and staff were very helpful in recommending viewpoints and restaurants! I must also say the breakfast was really delicious! We wanted to stay in a ‘Cave’ hotel. This one was really well done with thoughtful design. The owner Giannfreddo was so very helpful and gave us tips of what to see and where to eat.

It wouldn’t be ideal for people who have physical issues with walking as Matera has lots of steps and uneven surfaces. Parking is not easily available in the old town and cars are not allowed.

The room we stayed in was beautiful and very clean. Location was perfect for walking around/exploring Matera. Gianvito is exceptional and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Thank you!

We traveled with a large group, and everything from check in to check out was excellent. The facilities were clean and done first class. The owners and attendants treat you like you are the most important person in the world. I would stay hear again in a heartbeat!

The staff was fantastic. We were late arriving due to luggage issues and the staff called and waited for us. They were super knowledgeable about the area and helped make dinner reservations. Breakfast staff was welcoming, room clean, and food. yummy. They let us store luggage so we could explore more after we checked out. The shower in our cave was amazing with three different water sources. (The room was made from an ancient cave!)

The staff were all so lovely, and were so attentive when we had an issue with the air conditioning (the problem was resolved within the hour). The whole hotel felt very personal, given the smaller number of rooms and the reception gave us some incredible recommendations (thank you!). They had newly renovated when we stayed (the room had only been made ready in the last 2 months) and everything was very high-spec and and clean.

My partner and I struggled to find the hotel at first. Worth asking for directions before you arrive, but when you do the location is amazing!

It was lovely! The staff were so friendly and helpful, rooms were clean, and location was great!

Only thing would be the lock on the door was dodgy, but that was resolved super easy and the host came straight away to fix!!!

Location, value, breakfast, comfort, cleanliness, terrace off room. Gianvito was super helpful is explaining how to organize sightseeing and obtaining dinner reservations at two of the very best restaurants, L'Abondanza and La Latteria. He couldn't have been more helpful and enthusiastic about Matera.

We did not understand that we had only until 10 am to get our car out of the parking lot up the hill and load our [heavy] bags. Gianvito was kind enough to call us a taxi to get up the hill to the parking lot (14 euros).

We loved the location of Alle Malve. Our room was comfortable and we loved having our own small terrace. The host, Gianvito, was warm and welcoming. Breakfast was limited but OK, I especially liked the fresh focaccia.

It would have been awesome to have a mini bar with drinks like a half bottle of wine and soft drinks to enjoy on the balcony. Also, be aware that parking is at a distance and altitude from the property at 14 e per day (5-10 min walk).

In the center of Sassi di Matera old town. The host is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good and with fresh home made products. Toilet and all facilities are good .Bed very comfortable. I recommend the place.
