It just didn't live up to expectations and was expecting better . Didn't like being stuck in what seemed like basement area

Nice building and grounds, the main old part
It smells damp, corridors and rooms. The bedroom blocks have been neglected for years

Staff are helpful and friendly
1. Room was 'tired' and grubby
2 Full English Breakfast was terrible .. nearly £17 .. looked like it had been found in the kitchen behind a cupboard dried out and been brought to our table. Ingredients are cheap .. look cheap .. taste cheap
3. Second morning we obviously skipped the Full English .. but .. no sour dough .. no smoked salmon

Robert suite was large and clean but it got very warm and stuffy. Good facilities in the room. Headboard was dirty and only had 1 small pillow each. We attended for a wedding and this side of things was amazing and they looked after you all very well.
Breakfast took 50 minutes to arrive.

It looked nice on the outside. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
It smelled of urine in the corridors. The staff were brusque and unhelpful. The grout in the bathroom was dirty and slimy. The bathtub drained slowly whilst using shower. There is no air conditioning, only windows even on lower ground floor level at eye level with car park. Emergency exit door was left open to outside access. The WiFi couldn’t initially be accessed despite logging in with given details. The TV had only traditional stations, despite Netflix etc in the remote control

Bath mat was missing on 2nd night.
Extractor fan did not work.
Decor was very tired.
Toilet seat was loose.

poor decor. poor lighting in room, shower hose leaking, cooked breakfast very very poor. scrambled egg was cooked in a dirty greasy pan and was in edible as a result. tomatoes not cooked. flat mushroom was raw. bacon was pink and rubbery with raw rind. there was a funny smell in the restaurant (mouldy type of smell). carpet in stairwell was threadbare. paintwork and decoration very tired. the original 12th century building is hardly visible as it has been modified a number of times. overall the hotel is poor. receptionist failed to ask me if everything was alright during my check out.

Really nice hotel, food good, one of the best breakfast we have had in a hotel. The staff were lovely 😻
The only complaint we have was the bed was a bit 2 soft, like sleeping on a giant marshmallow, but this wouldn't stop us staying again

upstairs is very dated, the bedrooms especially, the bathroom sink was cracked, the pillows were very uncomfortable
