Friendly and helpfull host. Very close to the beach(few minutes walk) and in the town centre where all the action is for travellers. sensor keyring. Its a very friendly atmosphere and was amused at seeing guests lounging in unusual places such as a ledge between first and second floor. Its a small backpackers, but great atmosphere. Quiet time is from 10.30pm. guests were reminded at 10.30 to start simmering down. Soon after it went quiet. Its well run. Free wifi and good connection. Shower had descent pressure and hot water.

For someone with bad bladder the bathroom is downstairs and passes by the lounge so will get noticed if needing many trips. As its a small backpackers it is quite busy and congested. I misunderstood the advertising thinking there was a private bathroom in the dorm room of 4 beds so disappointed to discover the toilets and bathroom downstairs. It was okay for one night and more ideal for young travellers or passing through. Shower head is low.

Location and people

The staff is really helpful and friendly!

The room is very dusty, so cold (no heating) that I left sick, the room is not isolated so we can hear the bar’s music. I couldn’t rest there.

It leaves much to be desired, the location of the place is very good. In the heart of mount maunganui, a few blocks from the beach and several restaurants to visit. I recommend it for the convenience it offers with respect to location.

Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The facilities were dirty and poorly maintained, bathrooms with foreign hair, cobwebs and mildew. The beds were uncomfortable and the sheets looked like they hadn't been washed in weeks. It's concerning to hear that this basic standard of cleanliness wasn't being met. Additionally the state of the kitchen is also a major issue. A small and dirty kitchen can make it difficult for guests to prepare their own meals, which is often one of the main reasons people choose to stay in a hostel in the first place. The way the food and refrigerators were organized was very uncomfortable. I would not recommend this hostel for more than one or two days. I would advise looking elsewhere for a more pleasant stay if your are looking for a longer stay.

the staff was suuper friendly. The owner was very helpful and quick to solve an issue we had with our booking.

There are not many private spaces, especially if it rains.
