One of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had in hostels. For what it is it's an okay hostel, but the staff is just abhorrent to guests. At check-in time, the girl at the reception seemed truly indifferent and reluctant to provide any info about anything and the cleaning team kept loudly running jokes during the entire stay. I was astonished at that. As a guest, they keep treating you like a dismissable nuisance. I've never encountered that before. On the 3rd night, I got sick because the room wasn't insulated adequately. It was also extremely dusty, and I couldn't breathe properly and kept coughing. I requested to be transferred to another room, which would have been a downgrade of my reservation. To which the hostel's manager replied aggressively that it was impossible, claiming I'd infect everyone else in the next room. I honestly understand that, but her approach was nefarious. She herself was very sick that morning, coughing constantly. They moved on to claiming, wrongly and cruelly, that that morning I'd told the cleaner to leave the room while cleaning so she couldn't handle the dust. I never said that to her, as I didn't have any reason to. But I guess she somehow sussed that, not knowing English very well. I actually left the room when requested by the manager. Moreover, the room cleaning is pretty shallow, so the dust could not have been cleaned anyway. The hostel manager yet yelled at me that I was complaining all the time for a few mins straight when asking if I could be transferred. I had no choice but to leave at 6.30 in the evening, sick and exhausted. Maybe worst yet, there seemed to have been a permanent British guest on the premises that harassed one of the girls on the 2nd night I was there. She never reached out to them about that, but I believe that even if she had they would have done nothing to assist. Please don't stay there, as it isn't safe.

Staff were soooo friendly and helpful. Landscape of the room is amazing. Toilets and room were also clean.

Location of the hostel forced us to walking or renting a bike. There is not any bus station near of the hostel. Another thing is that bed is not comfortable that i expect

I like that it has a view to the river and the parliament. Also I like that it is quiet (at least from outside) The beds are ok. I think this place in the summer can be super good, but I guess with a different price

I asked the girl who cleans if they have a another toilet beside that we had in the room and she said no. The problem with with that internal toilet it's that are 10 beds, so can be 10 people who needs that one, and beside this, do not have a window or vacuum air inside, so yeah... noises and smells can invade the room very easy. And now that it was cold, you cannot even leave the door of the terrace opened. Also, on the floor and the bed (just in a small spot) it was a brown color. like rusty. Maybe something with the job of renovation they were doing. Also it was smelling after recently painted.

Actually, the room I stayed which was for 10ppl was larger than I anticipated from the photos. The toilet and shower are separated and both were clean enough.

The location was not that convenient(, but you will have beautiful views by the river/ from the bridge). It has laundry machines and hair dryers but you can use them only when receptionists are on site (they leave around 10 pm).

Absolutely satisfied with everything in overall. I stay in BP fairly often and it was the best hostel I've ever been. I had an eye surgery on the other end of the island hence wanted to stay in walking distance to the surgery. You can't beat the price and location. Best place to stay on the island if you want to save some £££. The location is 10/10, probably the best I have ever stayed in BP, quite and beautiful, but close to the main tram lines. We stayed in a double room which had its own bathroom. The room was warm and cozy. The furnishing is rather out of date, however, the room and bathroom as well as the shared facilities were clean which is far more important than the design. The piazza is spacious and beautiful and it gives you a truly authentic perspective to the Danube. Customer service is also superior, seamless, quick communication. Edit was very nice and accommodating. We arrived late at night, just before midnight and Edit made sure that our flight was monitored. We were promised that we can check in even if our flight would have been delayed. This gave us a good peace of mind and made our journey less stressful.

The pillows were too chunky for my linking, however, my hubby loved them.

The terrace has an amazing view. The location of the hostel is very good.

Locality is the best! Bar is perfect, people are kind and very helpful! 😊

Location is fantastic: no traffic, no loud party going on during the night. The Island is right in the middle of the capital, easy approach wherever you are heading to. Beautiful surroundings parks, trees, flower gardens. Green!!! The hostel's garden/terrace is Paradise!! Full of gorgeous colourful plants, flowers , plenty of place to sit, (chill, read, eat/drink) chairs, tables, deck chairs... View is marvellous, relaxing; right next to the river. Receptionist, Edit is friendly, helpful, cheerful lady. 😊 And there was even a super intelligent cat 🐈 😻 It's a cute little place, homey, cozy...coolest kitchen so far to me, I loved the view and all the glass windows there.

A great Hostel located on an Island with a relaxing balcony and a great staff! Had a wonderful time in Instanbul thanks in part to this beautiful hostel, highly recommend.

If you are wanting to socialise, there is no better hostel in Budapest. The facilities are brilliant and there are bars and restaurants right next door to the hostel, some of which you get discount whilst staying at the hostel.

No AC in the dorms

Island Hostel Budapest is a very charming place, ideally located on Margit Island which is an amazing place to relax and visit. The comfy terrace oversees the Danube River, it's really quite a dream ! The staff was very helpful and profesional, always attentive to customer requests. The rooms are nice, nothing spectacular here. Bed and murals could need a bit of refreshing but it's completely serviceable. There are kitchen, bathrooms and couches available for guests. A very complete hostel in a sensational environment.

My only concern would maybe be be the lack of security : instead of handing locker keys, guests should each have the the key of the door of the room. Also the kitchen is quite small and can get a bit messy for this reason.

On the island, very nice location, good bed and most delicious Langos and wine at the bar! 🙂

The lady at the front desk was soo lovely and she made my stay very fun.

The walk into the city is abit long but there is a tram stop just outside the island
