Deceived about Shangri La. My stays precovid were much much better and I thought that I would be the same....What a deception , to the point that I cancelled my second stay there and booked Galle Face Hotel which was above expectation

Unexperienced staff across the line, messy , the breakfast was as if you are in a canteen area so crowded and felt it was not clean.....

Breakfast had everything Sri Lankan and lots of spicy food, my stomach is still complaining.

The room was comfortable but the “ocean view” is actually a “port in construction view”. The facilities were good and management flexible enough to give us a late check out.

The service was really poor everywhere. We have waited so long at the pool bar to place an order. Nobody was checking on us and when we finally ordered food, it arrived cold and we had to ask for cutlery. At the lounge bar, we have asked for a vodka sour (only whisky sour on the menu) and it was a huge deal to have it. The waiter explained that it doesn’t have the option on his till so he would have to charge me for 2 vodka + 1 soft. So my drink will be 3 times the price of the cocktail. It can seems a small detail but in a 5 star hotel, when a client ask for vodka instead of whisky in a cocktail, the staff should make it happen without telling to customer all the back office details. Finally, we had diner at the capital bar & grill. I ordered a steak which came overcooked so I send it back. The waiter came back with my plate, my steak cut in half, saying to me that it is not over cooked in the middle. I mean… who does that ???cutting the food of the customer and bringing it back to the table ! This is unreal. I will definitely not come back to this Shangri-La or any other in the world.
