The heating in the bathroom could not be turned off, you could burn yourself touching it.

Great location, close to town centre but away from hustle and bustle. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice, all freshly cooked. Rooms were immaculate, staff and owners very friendly. Would definitely stay again, great value!

absolutely fantastic hotel we arrived early as we were coming on the train and asked if we could drop off our bags they kindly let us into our room early which was fantastic the garden at the front of the hotel is beautiful many original features kept in the downstairs area and some stunning stained glass windows we stayed in room one which was lovely it was spotlessly clean and very well decorated the view was fantastic the wireless charging on both sides of the bed was great we weren’t expecting that at all it was very quiet at night and we both slept really well the breakfast was lovely and the staff were very attentive and very well organised overall a fantastic stay and we will definitely be back

not a criticism at all but just so others are aware when booking there are a number of steps leading up to the entrance and no lift inside so not suitable for people with mobility problems or health issues that make it difficult to climb stairs

Brilliant location, wonderful looking establishment with period features.

It wasn't an issue for ourselves, but there were a few steps to reach the front door of the property.

Location was perfect and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The building looked a little tired and could have perhaps done with a bit of a spruce up. However, it was pre-season so perhaps a bit unfair to criticise.

It's a beautiful property, exquisite lounge and dining areas. Room 8 has a roll top bath and abstract wallpaper. Smallish room but not a problem for us. Nice and quiet. Decent tea selection. Would have liked a pack of biscuits each as they were so delicious! The room had a slight musty smell, perhaps as the bathroom was open plan with the bedroom and we had difficulty opening the bathroom window. The toilet was separate though, what a relief! Breakfast was great, you have to ask for some things, such as cereal and fruit juices, rather than seeing the options laid out on the buffet area for self service. This would help free up the waiting staff during a busy service, although it was actually quiet when we breakfasted with only one other couple in the dining room. Overall a good stay. Thanks very much to Emma and Tina for a warm welcome.

Superb breakfast. Lovely room and bed was very comfortable. Very clean and spacious with a brilliant bathroom. Dining room was very nice and communal sitting room very good. Service at breakfast was very good.

The distance from the car park up steps but that is only a small issue. Other than that no complaints.

Hosts were friendly and accommodating. Beautiful period property in a quiet spot. Bedroom uniquely designed. Lovely interior, especially for fans of Victoriana. The breakfast was delicious!

Would have preferred a shower, rather than a showerhead over a bath, but it was still a great room.

location and Tina and Emma were so accommodating. food was great. room recently renovated so it was done tastefully. they were able to accommodate me to another room where I didn’t have to climb so many stairs

The breakfast was beautifully cooked and excellent quality food. I had porridge, which for me has to be made in a specific way! It was perfect, large portion and creamy served with maple syrup. We had a peek into some of the bedrooms which weren’t occupied. They were all very stylish and clean including our room. The weather was freezing outside but our room was lovely and warm. Parking on the premises is a big bonus and very convenient for all amenities. The building is beautiful with all the original features which gave it a lovely cosy feel. The staff were really nice and helpful, nothing was too much trouble accompanied with a lovely smile, which always goes a long way!
