The hotel was very clean and quiet, the beef and the lamb was cooked to perfection. It overlooks the river ouse. The staff were very helpful and was always smiling and on hand to help with anything. We will be back.

Hotel location and room were lovely and I would visit again but with no meal option. Receptionist very accommodating wanted to leave luggage but room was ready so had room early.

I would not have DBB again. Selection first night a lot of menu unavailable.

The location is perfect for the city. The breakfast is good,plenty off

If I have to say. What I didn't like was the bathroom could do with a overall. Metal bath with ceramic flaking off is not a good look.

Lovely hotel in superb location close to all major sights and with secure on site parking in basement. Bar and restaurant both very good with great views of the river Ouse. Really friendly helpful staff too

The hotel has a great location and you might even be able to get a parking space at a fee.

I’ve stayed in many hotels and written a review like this. This hotel needs a lot of TLC and the staff training in customer service. Maybe because they have coach trip custom they’re not bothered about upgrading it or other customers. Laminate signs everywhere. Everything needs a good clean but not with a so much bleach you have to open a window. Basic procedures need looking at - why have a large bin with an open top in a breakfast area where there is food? The breakfast room is poorly laid out and staff doing meaningless jobs whilst dirty plates need picking up. A storage / cleaning area on the ground floor with the door permanently open. Lots of minor works too long to list. You’d be better off in one of the Travelodges. I would not stay here again.

The room had everything you needed for a three day visit to York. The breakfast was very good value and the hotels location was excellent. Although the inner city area is all walkable the hotel was within a short walk of the castle museum which is done very well, the Yorkshire Regiment Museum which was very informative and well presented. The Yorvik Centre was close by and the Minster a short walk through the Shambles. Both superb visits. You are spoilt for choice for restaurants and pobs within a ten minute radius. York is a real haven for the keenest of shoppers or browsers, from everyday to high end shops.

A lthough the hotel has limited onsite parking there is an NCP secure parking location literally a minutes drive from the hotel. The hotel is able to give you a card for reduced parking costs at the NCP location. Simple message, book the hotel parking as early as you are able.

Good location. I choose the room with river view and it is amazing. Really like the view. Also breakfast is good. Staff is friendly.

The bathroom smells a little bit and very old fashioned. The sink is so small that it is not comfortable to use.

The noise from below and above our room (36) was annoying and the fusebox in our room buzzing all night kept us awake

It was brilliant rooms comfy clean and the shower was very good to . Everybody was helpful and very polite.

Perfect location and room was light and airy, wonderful to have the underground parking albeit with a fee .

Excellent location. Friendly and helpful staff. Large room with many facilities. Breakfast was excellent, and we had dinner one evening in the hotel, lovely food. Car parking really useful. Good value for money. Definitely recommend and will return!

Wi-Fi was not very good. Although free, the signal was poor. Personally I’m not keen on a shower curtain in the bathroom but this was a minor thing

Room seemed newly redecorated - clean and beautiful! Very quiet courtyard room. Staff was helpful getting us breakfast to go when all the breakfast times were already full. Very tasteful and pretty inside. Very comfortable bed.

This time we stayed in room 68 and was disappointed with only one plug point available.Usually there are more plug points and USB ports. It was a struggle for myself and my husband to charge both our mobile phones and other things.I couldn’t understand why this was as I’ve never known it before in the other rooms we have stayed in. We always pay extra for river view rooms so surely this should also cover for plug points!

very clean and local hotel, 5 minutes walk from almost everything, comfortable beds and most staff are friendly.

house keeping are very loud very early, we were woken up 8/9am (I’m on holiday I shouldn’t have to be woken up early) to the sound of them making loud bangs, and slamming doors, on departure we saw one of them hoovering and hitting the bed. the general hoovering and movement noises weren’t the issue it was the bangs and doors that woke us so much. also keep windows closed, the bar next door plays loud music until around midnight and then when people leave they shouting all through the night.

great location, clean , easy check in / out.

I had room 9 right near reception so unfortunately I got a lot of noise from reception and the automatic front doors . also because I was on ground level I tended to get smokers outside my window late at night and early morning. this didn’t ruin my stay and I didn’t mention it as I felt I could put up with it. but it might be an idea for rooms 9 and 10 to keep reception doors closed and maybe put up a no smoking sign near the windows .

Nicely located overlooking the river.

The location is perfect and the view of the river from our room was wonderful.

The bed was old and sagged in the middle.
