Things that can't be changed, really. The location is a little isolated but has a good bus service to both Selby and York. My room was on the front and it was really noisy with the traffic.

Excellent value for the price. Ideal location for our trip to the Yorkshire Air Museum. Very close to a main road so lots of traffic noise early morning and late afternoon which might be a problem in very hot weather with the window open. Food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Parking was good. We met and dined with friends there. The pub was separated into three areas, a lounge bar and restaurent. The room was better than expected full of light from two windows which gave it a delightfull aspect. Though it over looked the main road the double glazing cancelled out any noise. The small staff were attentive and patient. I would recommend and stay there again

If you expect your pub to look like the Grosvenor or Claridges or expect cuisine like that in Maxim's you'll be disappointed. This is a pub.

Friendly staff and good location for access to York

The room needs a lick of paint as there were black marks all over one wall. The room could have been cleaned to a higher standard, particularly the bathroom. No bottled water in the room and no option to buy still water.

The welcome from staff. The Room was clean and bed comfortable. Food really tasty and well presented. Enjoyed our evening in the bar area.

Well located for our trip. Stayed three nights. Midway between two locations visited. We were with four others also staying here, one of whom arrived by train then bus to just outside the White Swan. It's on the A19 but we didn't experience too much traffic so noise was not disturbing at night. Bedroom was comfortable. Breakfast good.

Everything, the place is a stunning old building that has been clearly well looked after. the bar and tea areas are clean comfortable and the food was spot on. the room we stayed in was amazing, very clean and the toiletries and towels were plentiful. the people running the place were so lovely, they couldn’t do enough for us. Other guests staying were a little disruptive one night and because the management heard about it they insisted we had a free Sunday meal on them and boy it was a great meal, half a chicken and ALL the trimmings. they even made it later than they usually serve food, honestly they were amazing! would definitely stay here again!

When we had our issues the owners were kind enough to let us sit in the pub and sort it out. Location WOULD have been ideal.

When we showed up the new owners had no idea we had booked, the rooms were still being renovated so we were left with nowhere to stay! This isn't entirely their fault, however this listing needs to be taken down as it has seemingly happened to many people. We received confirmation of the booking via booking.com so we thought everything was okay! If you want to book I wouldn't bother going through here, call them up and see if the rooms are open yet since the new owners are still working on getting things up and running.

Nice comfy bed, plenty of tea and coffee if needed. Nice and warm.

Bathroom was freezing cold. The bed was clean but a lot of dusty surfaces. Wasn't told about any meal or breakfast options. As these were extras and nowhere else local.

Staff where absoloutely fab.....very friendly....homely atmosphere ....helpful and made our new year! Will definitely return xxx

There were no staff to provide breakfast. One poor man was having to do everything, very willing, such a good attitude but working under impossible conditions. We loved the hotel but a lot of things were missing, towel rails in the bathroom for example. The 2 members of staff who were there were really pleasant and trying hard but somebody really needs to take a proper interest in this lovely building and it could be a lovely hotel.

I think I have explained in the question above. We would love to visit this beautiful hotel again and see it run properly with the staff supported and facilities updated.

Breakfast was continental and limited but the price was fare, the bare was warm and welcoming the car park was very spacious and had easy access to the rooms.

Access to the rooms was up a narrow staircase this did not cause us any challenges but could cause someone with mobility issues a problem.

Upon arrival staff very welcoming, easy check in, food was exceptional, excellent value for money. And nothing was too much trouble. Room was cozy and clean.

Staff couldn't be any more helpful and accommodating. One bus to town, 20mins. Free parking. Great decor, facilities, complimentary coffee tea etc.

Thin walls. No toiletries. Broken toilet seat kept moving. Difficult to open flat door after hours but the chef did come down to help. Breakfast is expensive for what you get and the hotel price is a bit more for what you get.

Shower was freezing the room was tiny and no one was around when we left. We wernt sure what to do so left our key in the room. We had to fix the lamp shade when we got in the room as that had fallen off.

Staff were really lovely and helpful. The hotel was very clean. The chef was excellent, even kept chatting very helpful fella. The pub was nicely decorated and plenty of room between the tables. Easy to catch the bus into York as it stops outside.

The bedroom could have done with a lick of paint to freshen it up as it had a few marks on the walls. I would have liked a choice of hot chocolate mixed in with the tea and coffee in the bedroom and real milk instead of UHT.
