Beautiful historic hotel in the best part of Chicago. Friendly staff and great service. Nice, clean, spacious, comfortable room. Would definitely stay again.

The Drake has seen better days. We booked a single queen bed room. They put us on the 2nd floor in a room that rivaled a Motel 6. The mattress was pathetic, worn, and definitely NOT a queen sized bed. Our request for an extra pillow was left unheeded. To their credit, when I politely complained the next day, they gave us an upgraded room -- a suite on the 10th floor. This room was nice, but the furnishings still cry out for updating. This is supposed to be a Class A, luxury hotel -- and they certainly charge those kind of rates. In addition, they took a $150 hold on my credit card for expenses (we prepaid for the room), which was fine. But when our dining bill that we charged to the room went beyond the hold, they locked us out of our room until we went downstairs to put on another $150 hold, whereupon they issued us new room keys. This did not make me feel either trusted or appreciated, and I've never experienced that at any other hotel property. We ate at the Oak Street Cafe (you cannot enter from Oak Street!), which seemed very tired, although the service was great. The grand shops that used to operate from the ground level of the hotel are no longer there. There is a convenience store, though. Bottom line: the Drake is no longer special. There are much better options for the price nearby. Sad. But true.

Love the Drake! Classic Chicago, excellent location. Very clean, very comfortable, huge room. Staff is fantastic; personable and always ready to help. And valet parking staff is top-notch!

It's a lovely old classic hotel - beautifully decorated . Staff at front desk and in the lobby are friendly and efficient. I was disappointed that there was no mini-fridge in the room to keep my medications. I did expect one as even the very basic Motel 6s etc have a fridge.

Legendary Chicago hotel. Room overlooking lakeshore noisy because of traffic… would be great if windows were soundproof. I will return but request room on the other side.

Easy check in and check out! Room was spacious and comfy. Near by many restaurants and retail stores and the beautiful beach! Our dog enjoyed his stay too👍

This hotel is old and needs some serious renovation.. this old hotel is literally a place that you don’t want to stay.. sorry for the brutal comment but this 100 year old has remained in the 1920s

Classic Chicago locale just steps from Oak Street Beach and the Mag Mile. Beautiful interiors, the rooms can look a little dated but the place is an historic landmark.

The Drake is an old property with a lot of history. Staff were amazing. In good condition for the age of the building. Great location. Tons of dining and shopping within walking distance. Very close to the lakeshore ( walking/bike path along the lake) Had a very nice stay.

The bathroom is not ADA accessible. Absolutely not! And the toilet flushes at an alarmino loud rate high enough that you need to plug your ears to be honest-Horribly loud!!!! The room is not also ADA accessible if we wanted to order room service, there was nowhere to set your food down., Especially if using a walker or a wheelchair!!!

Love staying at Drake but I messed up and didn’t realize I booked a king bed for 3 adults. There was a pullout. I went down to see about a room with 2 beds and they promptly said they had a 2 bed room. It was a room with 2 twins and much smaller than the previous room. I was so hot and tired from carrying around luggage I did not call back. I should have but we made due with room. Wish they would have told me we were getting 2 twins- I would have stayed in the king room.

Had an excellent stay for four nights. We had a lake view and enjoyed waking up every morning to this beautiful lake view. Bathroom was small, but we managed having to put our bathroom necessities on a table right outside of bathroom. The housekeeping lady was so sweet and did an excellent job everyday (wish I could remember her name). This hotel has had a lot of famous people stay so it was neat to see the pictures. Super close to all the shopping places and lots of restaurants. Will definitely stay here again.
