We spent the Thanksgiving weekend in Santa Barbara, with a stay at the Franciscan.
The location of the hotel was perfect, being just a block from the beach on a nice street. The hotel itself was nice, with a boutique feel to it, as opposed to a “typical” chain and service was excellent.
The room itself was lackluster given the cost. It felt dated and well used. A wall unit heating/cooler, with the remote clamped in a jury rigged fastener on the wall, the bath was small with obvious signs of repair and relocated fixtures. All of it worked, but felt more like a mid-range motel, not a high end hotel.
All in all, not bad, just not as upscale as one might expect from a high cost property.

The Franciscan Inn exceeded our expectations with nicely renovated rooms that were spotless. Beds were comfy and we loved the very quiet split heaters. Location is fabulous. The staff was very helpful.

The hotel was aesthetic, clean, comfortable, and styled nicely to match Santa Barbara. Additionally, to my surprise, the Wi-Fi in the room was as fast as my wired fiber optic connection at home. I needed to work while I was there, and it was perfectly fast.

We gad a pleasant stay! Nice helpful Staff! Nice clean rooms, nice pool and whirlpool. The breakfast was good. Every day we had complimentary fresh baked cookies at the lobby. You can use bikes 2 hours no charge! After that $12,-. I recommend this nice hotel!

This is a very nice property and a great location for everything to do in Santa Barbara. The staff are very friendly. The breakfast selection was pretty limited. The room was so sparsely furnished that it was not very comfortable. The TV didn’t have very many channels to choose from.

The Franciscan is a very good hotel. The rooms are spacious, well appointed, and very clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, just a short walk (block & a 1/2 to the beach).
The bed was too firm for my wife and I, so we didn't get as good a night sleep as expected. That's the only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars.

Really like the location of the Franciscan hotel. It’s a five minute walk to the beach, but nestled in a residential community. The grounds of the hotel and the room were very clean. Nice wood laminate floors, and simple but sophisticated decor. The view of the Santa Barbara mountains at Sunset was beautiful. Chocolate chip cookies every afternoon ~ nice touch. Lori. Sept. 2024

So many great things! The location was ideal and walkable to waterside and town sights, the rooms were clean with very quick attention to any minor problems, the staff was superlative (especially concierge Flore), and the free parking and free breakfast, with eggs, sausage, cheesy potatos, danishes, fruit, cereal, etc., were just bonuses!

Charming hotel. Loved the pool and location, grounds were very nice. Only window in my room faced the parking lot .They could use a small lamp in the bedroom, not this huge bright overhead light. Breakfast eggs were not great. Staff was terrific. My friend had an outdoor patio not me.

Very small room with tiny bathroom (the door couldn't open all the way without hitting the toilet). The small pool had no lounge chairs-- just chairs. The pool towels were slightly larger than a hand towel. The hot tub was under construction with no sign of being done any time soon. Parking was free but it was full and I saw guests arriving with no place to park. The property is located in a great area that is in walking disrance to most things. The recent renovations are cheap. They look good from far, by far from good. Very, very overpriced for a motel / travellodge. We didn't stay for breakfast that mainly consisted of cereal, juice and coffee. Most likely limited since it's served next to check-in area with no dining area. I was so dissappinted because it looks so quaint. But there are far nicer hotels in this price range.

The property was very clean and well taken care of. We were able to walk to some good restaurants nearby. They also have bikes you can rent. We brought our own electric bikes and enjoyed being able to tour State Street, the Marina, and Harbor. The continental breakfast was helpful and the cookies in the evening were perfect. We were disappointed that the propane tank was empty when we tried to use the fire table in the evening but it didn’t change our lovely stay. Also I would get instructions upon arrival to the tv remotes we couldn’t use them.

it’s a glorified motel with cheap minimal rooms, but great location just a few minutes from the beach (which was surprisingly dirty and unpleasant)

My husband and I loved the quaint Franciscan!!! Rooms clean, nice pool, grounds are nicely kept, perfect location to walk to Wharf and shopping. Sufficient parking!!! The check in Staff was wonderful and friendly!!! We had a very nice weekend and will definitely come back!!!

Everything about my stay was amazing. I believe they also even upgraded my room. The only thing that was a little disappointing was my room was very close to the Jacuzzi, but it was in the middle of being redone. I would definitely want to stay there again next time I come to Santa Barbara
