Place is looking tired, needs some maintenance and an update

Rubbish bin was full and had not been emptied, room was dirty, no towels in room. Staff were pleasant.

This room is beyond my expectations, with great view of mountains and cows across the road, and beautiful trees and lawns that attracts birds in the morning. And the room is spacious with basic kitchenett.

Staff were friendly, helpful, approachable, well presented. Thank you for all your good work in running this establishment.
Room and bathroom size roomy which was great. Bed very comfy. Great view and privacy (1st floor room). Lovely and airy - Hear Native birds all around. Nice! Cleanliness was really good (exception of plug but you did not see until removing plug!) - no odors, just fresh country air!
Things that would have lifted a star rating -found hair under handbasin plug ; wobbly door handle ; carpet seemed bit tired; one side of net curtain didn't pull easily.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, and felt very comfortable in surroundings. Felt refreshed and relaxed, which made our stay in Hanmer Springs so much better!

Great host, beautiful room but bathroom old and worn out. Grounds need overhaul, overgrown and dull…whole complex outside needs update. Place does not look inviting from the outside.

Warm welcome, excellent housekeeping, friendly staff, comfortable beds, great layout for a family of 4. Spacious. We stayed for 6 nights and will be repeat customers.

The maintenance in the room was poor. The king bed bases had separated causing a dip in the mattress, the toilet seat was broken putting it on a sharp lean, house keeping came in and made a bed that was dirty from room service and they just made the bed leaving the dirty sheets on it and the towel we had put down just got made into the bed. The freezer door in the fridge also didn't seal properly which meant the fridge froze all our drinks. Overall very run down and not as appealing as the photos made it look.

The Butter Chicken special in the hotel restaurant was the best ever tasted. Restaurant staff very willing to help and look after us. Unit was spacious. We would have preferred a harder mattress but failed to ask so will ask next time we book.

Basic accommodation, pricey for what you get but it's all super expensive in Hanmer these days.
At least it was clean and warm.
The toilet lid was loose, the shower head was broken and the body wash glued to the wall came off, so room condition was not great.
Reception said open at 8am but we had to leave the keys in the box because probably they slept in and it was not open.
It's hard to find accommodation at a reasonable price in Hanmer, so if your expectations are not too high, then go for it.

Check in was smooth and quick. Room clean and comfortable with all amenities as advertised. Don't recommend the restaurant though. The service was sub-par and dinner took 1.5hrs to make it to the table.

Great Staff and warm friendly hotel. While an old historic hotel the room had been renovated and were great to stay in.
I had just had a knee replacement and was on crutches. I thought the no lifts could be an issue but this is the South Island. Lots of care hands soon appears both staff and guests to manage bags etc. A wonderful warm wee hotel to stay at with great hospitality.
PS Do not miss the local Amberly Pies- Heavely
- If recovering for surgery do go on to Hanmer springs pools. Just the best!!

we booked a premium kings size and single and was so surprised to have a premium spa bath 2 bedroom suite by the book in manager Jason ,, thank you ,, this was a beautiful spacious accommodation with amazing upstairs 180 deg views that were breathtaking, this is the best resort we have ever stayed and we have travelled many countries including Singapore, Phuket , Philippines e will be back Australia, and have referred you to others thank you Agin Jason so much for wonderful service so unexpected
