Staff makes excellent cocktails

I like that the property was located on the beach. The choice of American vs local breakfast was good. There could have been more choices on the dinner menu, however the chefs did well with meals, and the food was delicious. The hotel staff was very friendly. I did not like that it was open access to the public and many locals roamed the property, which made it unsafe. Room furniture was very scarce, and I had to request seating. Toiletries were sparse and you had to wait up to 3 hours s for a beach or bath towel.

Needs a lot of work and aesthetics need vast improvement

The property was in a terrible condition so I didnot checked in. Would not be able to sleep in such fitly place, not fit for human habitation. Outside was just a mess so I didnot worry to look inside!!! Although

This my honest and heartfelt review, I did some research online before I book this little paradise in Jamaica, if I had base my decision on the negative reviews I wouldn't have come here but let me tell you, you have to go here to experience it for yourself. This little hotel is family run and they are still improving the property , the staff are amazingggg the food is delicious the room have all the amenities for a comfortable stay, room is clean you get jamaican coffee, tea and bottles of water in your room. The view of the ocean from the room during sunrise and sunset is to die for, the way to get here is through a local community village of fishermen that looks out for the area, it might seems sketchy but it's safe and the owners never had issues all the years they've been here. This hotel have a river beside the property so you have both the beach and the river, when I say I didn't want to leave this property because if the tranquility and the beauty of this place I almost cried thinking about going back home to my first world life. To sum it up go and experience it for yourself everyone is looking for different things and for us this was the perfect vacation. Thanks to the team at sand and tan beach hotel I will spread positive word about this piece of paradise

Steps to a clean beach and the River. Snorkeling along the pier was great. The food was amazing! The staff was so friendly and helpful. The room was big, beautiful, and had all the amenities. I will be back and highly recommend this small family run hotel

The property was okay decent for the price the room I stayed in didn’t have any hot water

This is not a 4 star hotel. The rooms are not as clean as they appear on the website and the air conditioning is questionable. The staff was rude and unaccommodating and the restaurant did not have half the items listed on the menu. It was so bad we had to check out almost immediately and go somewhere else.

Absolutely love this place such a nice peaceful atmosphere and very affordable rates my Family and I will definitely revisit

We had a few issues during our stay. Some were resolved and one was not. Our room was on the first floor near the bar with a deck leading out to the bar. When we arrived in the afternoon, with the music playing, we asked to be relocated and we’re told no rooms were available. During dinner, our neighbors started playing their music as loud as the bar. It’s then, after dinner, we noticed our air conditioning wasn’t working. I alerted security to the music and the front desk about the air conditioning. We were then assigned a room on the 3rd floor at the opposite end of the hotel. For our last two nights, we didn’t have hot water; it was tepid. We alerted the front desk and it wasn’t fixed by the time we left. No, we did not ask ti move to another room; we just sucked it up. The food was absolutely delicious at Sand and Tan. If you don’t have a car (we did) the dining options are very limited. We ate breakfast (included in our stay) and dinner every night at the hotel. The public beach area was nice and was probably nicer before they had terrible rain early February.

The area around the property was dilapidated in one direction; another direction was a nudist beach, another direction had a lot of panhandlers (but not unsafe). The property itself was quaint, quiet, charming and absolutely delightful. The staff was friendly and attentive. A great experience!

- My room had a very foul smell coming from the bathroom. It smelled of old pipes/sewer gas. The shower head was glogged and mainly sprayed water out of 1 main sprayer that was missing. I figured the smell was the age of the hotel. Nothing that could be fixed during my stay. Same with the shower head. Constant smell of garbage burning overnight. Drapes did not close all the way. I needed to use a hair clip! - ALWAYS CALL A LOCAL TAXI. The hotel claims they have a taxi service, but it is a personal driver who changes his price. Don't assume the price is honest. It still bothers me to think how I was gouged. Also the passenger air bag had been deployed and is now being fastened with a screw. Call a local taxi! - The pictures of the hotel are very outdated. The waves come right up the beach now. On good days you have a few feet. Wear water shoes or sandals in the water. The rocks are jagged. - If you go swimming without other tourists nearby, YOU HAVE AN EXTREMELY HIGH CHANCE OF BEING HASSLED. I stopped swimming because of this. The locals will come on to the hotel property and follow you. They will also congregate at the only exit door, making it uncomfortable for you to walk around freely. You have to use that way or leave your sliding glass door unlocked, which is unsafe. - Look up the reviews for KAZ KREOLE. The hotel changed names and the bad reviews are left unheard. PLEASE, SINGLE WOMEN, AVOID THIS HOTEL. IT IS UNSAFE!

The closeness to the ocean is mind blowing. The bay is quiet. The hotel is a perfect place to relax. The hotel employees are like family, charming, natural, lovely. I can recommend this hotel as a true gem.

A real taste of Jamaica. No frills, clean and quiet with breakfast included. Water sports and spa services available. The sunset is the best. Beachfront property

Perfect for a weekend stay when you have business or an event on the area.

Hotel needs some TLC. The entire property needs renovation. Not much of a beach, the pictures that you see are maybe from 20 years ago so keep that in mind.

I didn't like constantly looking for US dollars. I really l;ike all -inclusive. I found the hotel lacking in amenities It is very simple but the staff are superb. And I like being right on the beach even if the waves come almost up to the second floor.That I understand doesn't occur very often. It's too bad there's no room for a salt water swimming pool. But I hope to see you all again. Sheila

The moment I walked into the dingy front desk office, I wanted to leave. After I saw my room which was updated, large and clean. I decided to stay, wrong decision. Right below my room workmen were doing construction on the bar until 10pm. It was not safe to walk around at night, so must taxi everywhere. Hotel does have 24 hour security. Wonderful staff and good restaurant on premises. Hotel needs serious renovation, also beach was rocky and dirty.

Hotel needs a back up generator in case of power-outage … and stronger WiFi

This is a very cute little local hotel. The ocean view room is perfect. The staff is nice and free breakfast is good. It’s authentic Jamaica, nothing too fancy, just how I like it.

Not what I was expecting for the money is not a 3 star, if I didn’t know, it look like that, I wouldn’t stay there ,The hotel is in the middle of nowhere dogs chasing you at night , The beach view is very nice. Breakfast was okay chicken is a bit bony, day room cleaning service is very slow. I went away and come back and there still hasn’t clean the room so have to wait around till they clean the room.

There was no potter on arrival to help with the languages. The building is old and needs renovation/upgrade. The area where the hotel is located is very rough and scary with people hanging around on the way to the hotel.

I barely (had) any hot water during my stay. I had to call out staff (three) times to my room(106), because a lack of hot water. The toilet got blocked the second (day) off my stay? On the 31st January , from 4am until I checked out at 11.00am, their was no hot water & I had to depart for a 10 hr flight, not be (able) to shower? On the 31st January am time, staff was been not been honest with me, in regards to (me) getting hot to my (room). I wouldn't recommend Anyone I knew, to the Sand And Tan Beach Hotel.
