As soon as you enter the front door, the smell of cigarette is so strong and reaches to our room. I wish I paid a bit more to stay somewhere else

The hotel smelled of smoking, (supposedly smoke free..., due to allergies I could not stay...) the rooms were not so clean and just not what was reflected on the internet. But the issue was not not hotel...if you want a really affordable place to stay in Montreal and you don't mind the area and the goings on, its probably great. However, our issue was with Booking.com and the fact they did not give ANY credit when we wanted to cancel. We came to the property and my wife was appalled by the conditions and we asked for a cancelation or refund. The young fellow at the desk was more than accommodating, but then he said he could not do anything for us because we BOOKED through Booking.com. He said to contact them. We did try to contact them twice through our phones. Both times the call was disconnected through the other end - after at least 15 minutes on hold. No attempt from Booking.com was made to call back to my wife or me. I can not emphasize enough, the young fellow at the hotel was more than willing to refund us the stay for two nights...I only asked for the next night as it was was after 7 pm when we showed up. However, since we booked through Booking.com....there was nothing he could do and referred us to call Booking.com. Did not work out...very sad and the only good thing was that when we were left stranded , since we were dropped off at the hotel, we were able to get a ride to another place....different story.... MORAL of the story...beware of BOOKING.COM........For better service I will wholeheartedly recommend Expedia.ca.....they help you.......
