Wir hatten nicht damit gerechnet, dass es ein ganzes Haus ist das man da mietet. Alles war sauber und ordentlich. Wenn man erstmal mit der Heizung umgehen kann ist es sehr gemütlich. Das abendliche sitzen am Kotatzu ist sehr schön. Der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Man kommt gut in die Stadt, auch zu Fuß. Die Lage ist schön ruhig und der Supermarkt ist nicht weit weg.

自宅で過ごすかのように過ごせて大変くつろげました！旅先でこんなに至れり尽くせりたと帰りたくなくなります！ ホントにありがとうございました！ お風呂も広く脱衣所も広く身支度や入浴などホントにしやすかったです！ ドラム式の洗濯乾燥機もあり洗剤や柔軟剤も用意していただき帰ってからやることを減らしながら旅行が楽しめるのはホントにありがたいです！ また利用したいと思います！

Close to everything we needed: combini, Fresca grocery, Kyoto University, bus to bigger tourist sites. Around the corner from a gorgeous cafe - Woven. Homey decor, including a kotatsu. New AC and appliances. Helpful owners.

We really enjoyed our stay at Machiya Kyoto Shogoin. Thanks very much to our kind and helpful host. We were sad to leave and would not hesitate in coming back again to stay or in recommending Machiya Kyoto Shogoin to others.

I regret not staying longer. Kyoto is an amazing place and certainly one of the best places I have visited. I look forward to my return some day as there is so much to do there.

This is a historic machiya house within walking distance of many Kyoto sights. The house has great atmosphere. The host was very welcoming, the house was well stocked. The house has many rooms and can accommodate a larger group of people. There was convenient parking for a small car. Bicycles were also available. We really enjoyed our stay!

It can get a bit cold in the winter in the historic house, but heaters are available in most rooms The stairs to the second floor are steep, but most facilities are on the first floor.

1. The host kindly offered us a ride to the subway station upon checkout. It helped us massively to move smoothly to Osaka! 2. The facility is great. All the cooking utensils + free laundry machine, incl. detergent & softener. If you plant to stay in Kyoto more than just a few days, this Machiya can make a great home to you! 3. History. I talked to the host and he shared the story that the house is 130 years old! However, they renovated the inside with lots of modern touch, incl. floor heating system and modern bath. I stayed quite comfortably!

The only minus point is the proximity to the public transportation & convenience store (still just 5-10 min walk to the closest bus stop). It's rather residential area, so if you're looking for something quiet, this is a great place!
