Great home with all amenities in a quiet area and on the beach

Beautiful home on a beach that felt very private. Watched sea turtles and sunsets on the beach right in front of the house. Had everything that we needed at the house, including beach chairs. Was a couple block walk to the grocery store and restaurants. Perfect house in the perfect location! The host was very quick to respond to any questions that we had. Would definitely stay again!

Our view from the home was incredible. Each morning we were greeted with a slight breeze and blue skies. We toasted each evening's sunset with champagne and enjoyed the ocean view from the patio.

We loved our stay! Beds were comfortable, house was exactly as described, communication with the manager was excellent! The beach is right over the the grass hill and the sand was so soft! Easy entry to the water if you want to swim or rent paddle boards. We had a great stay!

This property delivered on all of the promises of the listing. The location offered great privacy, sunsets, and access to food and shops within walking distance. It was well equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen and for the beach. Nice architecture and construction. Great communication from the host. I highly recommend it!

Had a great stay at Doug’s townhome! Doug was very responsive and proactive in his communication. Really appreciated the 70’s vibe and quick access to the beach. The house was well appointed with everything we needed. We were grateful for the beach chairs, towels and umbrella. Primary bedroom was so light and breezy and the bed was comfy. We stayed in late April and had absolutely no need for air conditioning. The layout of the home is a little quirky and there’s a few steps to the kitchen without a railing so anyone with mobility issues or with small children may have a bit of trouble. Also there are sand dunes and a rolling yard to navigate so that to could also be a challenge. As others have stated, there is a large empty lot with public access to the beach next door (separated by tall bushes) which did get a bit loud a few times with cars revving their engines, or loud music , but it really didn’t last that long. We expected random people walking through the lawn between the house and the beach because of the previous reviews , but it was definitely something we had to get used to. The beach was beautiful and serene. We could walk out into the ocean for at least 200-300 yards and water was only to our waist. Would definitely recommend some water shoes! We enjoyed snorkeling and swimming with the sea turtles! Kihei is a cute town, but we were a little disappointed in the walkability of it. Yes, there is a grocery store that you can walk to, but as far as walking to shops and restaurants, everything seemed to be in a strip mall. We honestly spent a lot of time up the coast in Lahaina when we wanted to eat out and shop. We would definitely recommend Doug’s home to families with older children or for any group of able bodied adults.

We are so happy staying at Doug's house in Kihei... The location is great, the house itself is comfortable, and communication with Doug and Marti (the property manager) was excellent. I 100% recommend staying here! Waking up every morning to the sound of the ocean and seeing the palm trees swaying in the wind was a true dream come true.

What a dream!! Loved everything about this home. The home itself has that 70s vintage Hawaiian vibe (that I absolutely love), the breeze throughout was wonderful, the sunrise and sunsets from the deck incredible. Turtles and whales right out in front!!! Our family of 4 was very comfortable. We hope to stay again!!! Thank you Sherman’s for sharing your perfect home - Small family

Third stay at this property and does not disappoint! Access to beach right out front! Turtles, whale watching, swimming, paddleboarding right from the shore. Easy walking to grocery store and restaurant's. Already booking next year!

We are so glad we found this property. It was exactly what we were looking for to be centrally located for the activities we wanted to do during our stay and away from the dense tourist areas. The house was as advertised and well-appointed with the necessities: towels. toilet paper, dish soap, paper towels, bathroom soaps, etc. We only needed to buy some laundry detergent with our groceries. The location is peaceful. We rented SUPs for the week and went out for a paddle almost every morning. Paddling out past the reefs, you have calm waters and no risk of reef/rocks if falling. The house had 4 beach chairs and a beach umbrella for lazy beach days as well. The water in front of the house has some rocks and reefs with a small sandy area, however I recommend some cheap water shoes if you have sensitive feet and want to be in the water a lot. The land next to the property is a public access to the beach and you may have a few people walking from there in front of the house, but it is still much quieter than the resort beaches and it is really of no detriment to the privacy of the property. Maui has a growing homeless problem; however, this location wasn't a big issue as I believe local security helps manages this well. I'm certain if we had any issues, Doug or the property manager would have handled them immediately. Doug proactively reached out multiple times during the week to ensure we were having a great time. Highly recommend.

Beautiful spot, lovely sunsets and stars, shopping and swimming facilities near by, great communications by owner. It's a small rustic place in a lovely place. Property itself was a three star experience in a 5 star location - also note that the garden you see in the photos is open to the public.

The pictures are very accurate. The property is right on the beach and provides great sunsets. The west-facing direction of the townhome is a plus in the morning because the rooms stays cooler. The lack of air conditioning is not a problem at all due to the trade winds. There is an emplty lot to the immediate right of the townhouse which provides an sense of openness to the property. There is a well-equipped full grocery store one block away which is very convenient. The roosters can be annoying at night but that is an issue all over Maui and there is nothing the owner can do about it. The property is very clean, well supplied and well maintained. The communications with the owner were excellent. Highly recommended for a family.

This is a wonderful place to stay in a friendly village that provides numerous convenient amenities within short walking distance. The property is located in the middle of a particularly long stretch of sandy beach, so it is really enjoyable for long beach walks both north and south in Kihei. The host/owner was prompt and responsive to all inquiries. We had no needs or complaints arise during our weeklong stay; so, my communication with the host was merely to facilitate check-in and check-out, both of which went quite smoothly. The proximity to the beach made it convenient to equip ourselves with weekly rentals of kayaks and boogie boards. I could haul the kayaks back and forth by sliding them across the lawn (about 30 yds), and 2 young teens could do so with teamwork by carrying them by the handles. There was space to store this gear securely underneath the deck when we went elsewhere for adventures. It was nice to have a large charcoal grill available, and we used it several times during our stay. We were 4 in number, and the grill was probably large enough to cook for 6, including all the burgers and pineapple slices you might need for that number. Besides the grill, we cooked inside several times, and the kitchen was equipped suitably with various utensils, pans, containers, etc. for our needs. Having the neighborhood grocery store within walking distance contributed to a relaxing nature to our dining experiences, because we simply walked back and forth in 3-4 minutes with what we needed for the day or the meal at the time. I have nothing besides gratitude and thanks for this property, the hosts, and the time we had as friends and family to vacation at their home in Kihei.

Check in process was easy. House was very clean. Views are spectacular. Fans help since there is no AC. Windows and sliding doors are a little difficult to open/close as they are aged. Kitchen is very nice and functional. Plenty of bathrooms. Having kids in the room on the first floor and parents in the uppermost floor worked out great since they are teenagers. Location is central and convenient. Would recommend this to others.

Having breakfast with the ocean view every morning was amazing and falling asleep with the waves of the ocean was a dream.

Everything about our stay was fantastic! The property was exactly how it was described and in the photos (even better!) and the location was perfect, right on the beach. We really felt like we were miles away from the hustle and bustle of town, yet it was right around the corner. We traveled with our 2 teenagers (16 & 19) and they always had plenty to do. And did I mention the sunsets and turtles? Amazing. The property came with 4 beach chairs and an umbrella which were perfect

Perfect location. Right on the beach and provides easy access to everything you’ll want to do on Maui or you’ll be happy just hanging out on the property. Views are amazing. Walking distance to grocery store, good food and shave ice! Owners very responsive. Home is clean, spacious and has all the amenities you need.

We enjoyed the beautiful beach and sunsets right in front of the property. It was close drive to all the other adventures on Maui. The restaurants and grocery store close by were all great! The house was clean and the owners communicated well!

This is a fabulous location with beach access a short walk across a front lawn with palm trees. The house is older, with great architecture, but darker wood paneling and the lack of good lighting make it near-impossible to read at night. Kitchen appliances are dated and problematic (dishwasher doesn't close properly, ice maker doesn't work ).

Very nice duplex house. Happy with stay, but biggest drawback was Roosters crowing all night long (not just at dawn) every night 20 ft away from house. Should do something to remove roosters.

Perfect spot to watch the beautiful sunset in Maui. Kids could play in the sand, in the lawn. Kitchen has good amenities for a mom to cook for the kids! The check-in process could have been better with more light over the safebox area. Very happy with the owner and manager of the property!

Location to beach and ocean is world class, with accommodations that are just right for what we were looking for. House very comfortable and practical for the 4 of us.
