Great location, friendly welcome, lovely terrace

Communication prior to arrival confirmed a Dulce Gusto machine so we went out and purchased pods to take with us. On arrival, no coffee machine. Contacted the hosts via booking,com (they stated their preferred method of contact) and no response. Messaged 3 times and absolutely no reply. Appalling to just ignore me. Also, I had confirmed by messages that there were 7 adults and was told no problem. On arrival, only 6 beds made up. They resolved it quickly, but not sure why it wasnt sorted before we got there. Also, flat needs hooks - nowhere to hang towels, clothes, etc when in bathroom. Could do with a few more mirrors too.

The hosts didn’t return our deposit in full, despite us leaving the apartment in pristine condition, blatantly stealing money from us. The deposit process (which, imo, shouldn’t be allowed in the first place) meant that we were charged a commission fee by PayPal. After raising this with the hosts, they said it was out of their hands. If you can’t handle a deposit, maybe don’t take a deposit? There were many other issues we experienced in our time at the apartment: - we were told there was a surcharge for checking in late, and then on check-in, they didn’t complete the required admin, requiring us to do further work afterwards. - they told us if we got the towels dirty they would ‘hate to not return our deposit in full’. What do you think a towel is for? Softly stroking my clean arm against?! - there is NO AC. In the PEAK HEAT of a Portuguese summer, this led to terrible sleep at night. In summary, some of the least flexible, least helpful hosts we have ever experienced. It’s marred our holiday and put us off using booking.com in the future. It’s a shame to see people using this platform to abuse the mutual trust between hosts and guests.

45 minute wait to get in

We liked that the facility had a kitchen and two bathrooms. The host made a phone call for us, upon arrival, to have pizza delivered to us, so we did not have to walk through the streets looking for open places to eat, at 2300hrs. The apartment was walking distance to eateries and sites to be seen.

We did not like the floorboards were uneven and gapped, allowing nails to stick up when board was stepped on, the shower by the front door was ridiculously small, the host forgot to tell us the exterior door code. But, we were able to get it the next day. One of the bathrooms is inside a bedroom, with a glass block wall. Not convenient or private. The dishwasher did not have any washing detergent. We had to buy some. The windows in the bathrooms opened to the walkway outside the apartment. Anyone could walk by and snap a picture of who was in bathroom. The shower inside the bedroom was poorly sealed and had evidence of water seeping beyond the shower pan. Poor construction, Micky mouse.

I think the location couldn't be better. Walking distance to all major attractions and transportation means. Facilities of the room were quite ok.

There was an almost constant bad smell from the plumbing system of the building which maked the whole stay quite uncomfortable. Cleanliness should have been better.

The location was perfect, the views incredible, the apartment was clean, well furnished, well equipped, the beds were very comfortable. The person who met us with the keys was great, really friendly with excellent suggestions for our stay. We had the best time!! And want to come back as soon as possible! Also, we had an airport transfer through you when we arrived which went so smoothly and with a lovely lady who made us so welcome. Thank you for everything!

There is nothing that could have been better, we loved all of it!
