The view from the resort and from the villas is phenomenal, to take your breath away. Most villas have a swimming pool with a view. The interior of the villa is okay, but it is already a bit old. The inside of the villa is well cleaned. Villa Malee's huge terraces and hot tub. WiFi is good. The staff is friendly and responds immediately to watsup and solves problems and requests. Since the resort is in a hill, the hotel has a taxi that takes guests to one of the two beaches once a day and picks them up free of charge. A ride to the nearest market and return is 150 baht. The villas have microwaves, toasters and kettles. It also has an excellent, solid-sized refrigerator. You can bring your own food and drinks. You have extra towels for pool and beach. Villas no mosquito network on the door and vindow. The hotel organizes taxis to all destinations at reasonable prices.

Renovation is needed, especially on the outside. Also, the exterior of the villas is not sufficiently cleaned (terraces, public areas of the resort, etc.). The prices in the restaurant are too expensive, pad thai with shrimps is 400 baht, and it is nothing special. Room service is also expensive, 100 baht. Not for 5 star, maybe 4.

10/10 Booked a 2 room poolvilla but got a free uppgrade to a 3 room poolvilla, fabulus villa and pool, very good food in hotell restaurant, good service with friendly staff. Will return here sometime.

Absolutely everything! Gorges view, very spacious and in authentic style. Great pool, the sofa! My favorite after being more then 3 months in Thailand.

We enjoyed a lot our stay at Sandalwood! We had a private villa with a big pool and a view to die for. It was clean and very private, perfect for relaxing. The stuff is very kind and they are trying to do their best in order to make you feel the most happiest guest :) We can just recommend this place for all who are searching the perfect spot to relax.

Great views

Room and Facilities are extremely tiered and need updating. Not sure how this has got a 5 star hotel rating. Feels more a like a 4 star hotel with a good view and very accommodating staff.

We stayed in the three bedroom pool villa, and everything was great. Fantastic spacious villa, with gorgeous baths, good sized kitchen, infinity pool, and outdoor seating areas. The food in the restaurant was pretty good and not too expensive too.

The staff could have been a little more attentive and friendly in our opinion. We ordered a floating tray lunch on the first day, and the tray with dirty cutlery and plates remained in the villa until we asked 2 or 3 times, when it was eventually taken away the following day. All in all we found the staff to be a little cold, and not to the standard we'd expect in such a beautiful resort.

The room was so beautiful and roomy. We loved that it came with a mini kitchenette. The view from the pool was spectacular. You can watch the sunrise from there. We were glad that the hotel came with their own taxi service because the it sits on top of a very steep hill so that made going to places much more convenient. The staffs were also all very kind.

Nothing we didn't like.

The staff are friendly and very responsive. Helped us arrange transportation (ie. Taxi request, airport pick up/drop off, scooter rental) in a snap! The vibe of the resort is cozy boutique tucked away up in the hills with spectacular views. Our accommodations (we had the Lotus suite) were very comfortable & spacious & we had everything we needed including a small kitchenette area with kettle, microwave, fridge (no cooktop). We also had a cozy extra bed in the loftspace above which we didn't expect to use but ended up finding the upstairs bed more comfortable (softer) than bed on main floor. Definitly the highlight of this suite was the amazing view and we enjoyed breakfast & cocktail time on our balcony drinking in the views. We ate at the Blue Ginger restaurant one night and although we arrived minutes to their closing time they still graciously served us and the food was very good. Areas for improvement: -The shower curtain had quite a few rips in it - didn't pose any inconvenience but it doesn't look 'polished'. -Our in room safe didn't work -The restaurant might want to consider adding a little more authentic Thai 'vibe' to their decor & music selection (maybe some decorative patio lighting & artwork/plants) . I don't mind TOP 40 music but we're in Thailand......I can get TOP 40 back home:) We would definitly return to Sandalwood. As long as you have wheels you won't regret it!

The view was even better than the pictures, it was truly amazing waking up to probably the most beautiful view i have ever seen. The room was also very spacious and clean with an authentic thai touch to it, which made it even better!

Everything was perfect, the only problem is getting up yourself from the main road since you need a car to go up as it is too steep. Having said that, the hotel had a taxi available at all times to assist you whenever you needed it which was great!!

The beautiful sights and the service!

Amazing villa, felt classic Thai decor but modern at the same time. Bed was super comfortable and we loved waking up to the views over the ocean. We stayed in Jumpee and the pool was a great size and one of the highlights. It's not completely private as you can hear the villa above, but at the same time you don't feel watched or intruded on. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and we never had to wait long for a shuttle down the hill when needed. Also make sure to always WhatsApp reception first for a lift home if it's not too late in the evening as the hotel rates are way better than the recommended outside taxi cost. We ate twice at the onsite restaurant Blue Ginger which was quite pricey but the food was perfectly fine, the fruit shakes were phenomenal though.

I'd just be aware of the location as you cannot simply just walk out of this hotel into the town. The hill is very steep and long and you really wouldn't want to walk it either way. The hotel shuttle is so easy though and if you get dropped off at Crystal Bay there are restaurants and a massage place a 5 minute walk from here, or it's about a 30-40 min walk to Lamai itself.

it’s up a very steep hill so you can’t walk anywhere and there is a charge to get up and down the hill after 5pm. ok if you have your own transport. Pool gets limited light.

It is rather inconvenience as we cannot get a taxi or find transportation because the villas are located very steep up in the hill. Every time we need to get the staff to send us down to the Coral Cliff beach point to get a taxi or transport. Likewise when going back. There are charges for this service after 5pm and so we incurred quite a fair bit due to a family of 8.

The Villa was spacious & well decored. The pool was really good.... But the best were the rock formations in the hall & the bathrooms.

Property looks quite old.... Restaurant open till 8 pm... Though we had booked an ocen view villa we got Villa with an obstructed view of the ocean as there was a Villa bang in front of ours..

Extremely comfortable, reachable and cozy

The view is spectacular! We stayed in 3 Bdrm Grand Pool villa and enjoyed every moment of it! The pool was great! The staff were most hospitable and nothing was too much trouble, they helped us whenever we had any questions we had with restaurant/activity bookings! The restaurant/room service was delicious! The property is located up a steep hill, however easy to get up and down with motor transportation. The staff were the icing on the cake, everyone smiles and were very welcoming polite and most professional! Highly recommended!

location is a bit a climb up a hill, not easy to reach on foot, but as there are shuttles this is not much of an issue
