With just 12 rooms this really is a Boutique Hotel. On checking in the first Manager was not particularly friendly or informative but late we came across another, Kumar, who was exceptionally helpful friendly. He made our stay at Campbell House very special, many thanks! The small things in the room (attention to detail) like cold Lemon Tea and baked cookies as well as wonderful cosmetics make a big difference. All the rooms are individual in character, we were in Opium. The location is perfect for restaurants and not too noisy. On foot you can reach everything of interest in George Town. The wonderful Italian restaurant on the ground floor is where the breakfast is served. We would love to come back again and we found it to be very good value for money.

This property felt like a home away from home. The rooms are so beautifully decorated and each and everyone of the staff is super friendly and helpful. The daily evening deserts are a nice perk and the hotel location in the middle of Georgetown means nothing is too far away.

I wish the toilets had bidet showers.

Location was close to the main bar Street and restaurants. We are both vegan and they gave us a very good breakfast and offered soy milk for our morning coffees. One night we needed a rest night. It was brilliant. Strolled down the road. Purchased falafel, went back to our room and watched one of the many DVDs for guests (if you are wondering. It was Topaz, part of the Alfred Hitchcock collection). Just a tip. No shoe policy. It may help you decide on what shoes to pack.

We loved the small, personal touches from the whole team. The recommendations from Hema and Kumar about where to visit/eat were great. The drinks in the fridge were most welcome after a hot day exploring, and the general atmosphere was extremely welcoming. The room was comfortable, location was excellent and we loved the general styling. Clearly a lot of thought has gone in to how to make the stay as enjoyable as possible for each guest. We will definitely book again if we ever return to Penang!

There was only a western breakfast available which was tasty, if a little slow coming out. Not a big issue as there's a local breakfast market which is only 2 minutes away.

Breakfast is a bit inconsistent depending on who is in the kitchen each day. Just a tip to others, you have to request things like yogurt or bread. They don't come automatically. No local dishes or drinks for the breakfast.

great breakfast not buffet style a la carte, location right in the center of historic areas and many retaurants, around all the employes were exceptionally hepfull and very pleasant. I would definately go back there.

I moved out earlier because my room had major problems with the air condition. Seemingly it sucked in some exhaust air which made my room smell really bad and rotten like in a toilet. Staff tried to solve the problem but couldn’t. Solution was to put over it some parfume but of course that doesn’t solve the underlying problem. Furthmore the air condition was an old, cheap model and made a loud rattling sound as it would fall apart every second. after several attempts the staff could solve the problem by applying lots of tape. If management can solve this issues and put in some up to date and high quality aircondition it would be a great place but I just can’t recommend staying in there when this problem is not fixed. No redund was offered to me.

A really lovely characterful hotel with very professional warm and welcoming staff who met our every need from the moment we checked in until we left. Attention to detail is wonderful. They gave us a wonderful introduction to what to see and do in Georgetown and organised a great driver/guide for day exploring the sights of the island. They provided a great packed up breakfast for our early start on checkout. A very enjoyable stay.

The standard room was a little small with limited seating - although plenty of public space to sit. The bed was a little small too. There is no view from the room but that is more than compensated by the chance to stay in a beautifully furnished historic building. Georgetown itself wasn’t quite what we were expecting but interesting for a two night stay.

An absolutely flawless stay! Right from check in itself- we were made to feel right at home. We were welcomed with a refreshing beverage and happy smiling faces. The room was spacious, gorgeous and extremely comfortable. The property itself is mere minutes away from Love Lane, Armenian Street and other tourist hotspots- there are so many excellent bars and eateries around, that we were spoilt for choice. The complimentary breakfast provided at Il Bocaro was divine, and the little touches (like sending a free dessert to the room every evening) really elevated our stay. The hosts provided excellent recommendations of places to see and activities around town. Overall- we had an incredible time!

Perfect location, walking distance to most attractions in Georgetown. Staffs were very kind and helpful!

The bedroom and the bathroom/toilet are essentially contained in one room for Standard Room, only glass partition.

The entire experience was wonderful. The owners and staff were warm, friendly and polite. They gave me recommendations for what to see, do and eat. This was particularly helpful as it was the Lunar New Year and many of the street vendors, restaurants and sites were closed for the holiday. The room was both beautiful and comfortable. I loved the coffee machine and the extra touch of finding a cake or something sweet in the mini-fridge each evening. The hotel itself is in an excellent location. Everything I wanted to see in town was in walking distance. They arranged a car for me to the airport as well as a takeaway breakfast as I had to catch an early flight. It all made for a memorable visit and I hope to return again in the future.

Everything was brilliant.

This location in Georgetown proved to be perfect. Staff at this hotel could be the most attentive I have ever experienced. Breakfast was okay, but did not start until 8:00AM which is too late for the way we roll. The cleaning crew work very hard and are exceptional. Pure comfort here, and would surely stay here again if ever back in Penang.

Not a big deal, but I'd opt to not purchase breakfast with the room package next time as there are many more exotic dishes from a plethora of stands along the street that open much earlier.

At night it was a bit loud outside in the street.

The old world charm exudes from this place and it is located right in the midst of the bustling Georgetown heritage area. most things are a comfortable walk and the hotel is surrounded by restaurants, hawker centres, bars and Kopitiams, making it an ideal choice for tourists. The cherry on top is the super attentive staff at the hotel and the restaurant making sure that travelers are well attended to. The rooms are comfortably sized, super comfy beds and each boasts of a theme. We stayed in Rose and loved the way the sun streamed into the room through the coloured glass via the slatted windows. Despite being on a super busy street, the sound proofing is commendable. There are also other nooks and crannies in the hotel that are lovely, thoughtful and beautiful. The restaurant breakfast is a set of modest choices but very delicious. We also had dinner at their Italian restaurant and ended up being very impressed.

Parking is a massive hassle as for any other place in the heritage town. If you are driving, you will have to spend sometime looking for a spot. Download the Penang parking app which is a must. We were absent minded about it and duly got fined by the authorities on our first day in town.
