We arrived just 30minutes early, the person that greeted us was very surly and made us feel very unwelcome..I appreciate that we were early but the greeting could have been little bit more pleasant. Also our first night it was absolutely freezing.

We were made welcome by our host and given all the details we needed. We opted out of breakfast as we are not early risers..Jake the cat was very welcoming also. Very cosy cottage and an ultra modern bathroom. Very quiet at night apart from the rain, the waterfalls, and the local Owl so no complaints there then. The nearest pub The King's Head was only 10 minutes walk but we only had one drink and left as they do not serve food on a Tuesday. The other local pub was shut on aTuesday so we walked into Cromford (take a torch or two as essential)to the Boat and grabbed something that was enough to fill us there. We awoke next day and it was lovely to see the waterfall directly in front of our door and the rain had let up. We took a tour of the large ornate gardens and had Jake the cat as our guide, very impressive. After a day out walking in Chatsworth taking in the festive market we returned and made use of the wonderful spa bath facility. We then dined at the Kings Head and the food was lovely, especially the Steak and Kidney pudding and the Chicken pie...but beware the portions are enormous. We left the cottage at 11.00 next morning Very satisfied and rested. A very nice stay.

Lovely property with character, in an ideal location to explore the Peak District. The property is set is 4.5 acres of stunning gardens. Host was very attentive and informative and provided excellent breakfasts.

Staying in a place surrounded by beautiful gardens was a unique experience. Plus we had a spa bath in our room which was very relaxing.

Nothing not to like Meets expectations

We stayed in the luxury suite with spa bath which is a separate ground floor building so is quiet and ideal for us as we were travelling with our 9 month old and didn't want to wake other residents through the night! The spa bath was a lovely bonus and the breakfast was good. The gardens are beautiful and a real gem. We went out of season so had the gardens to ourselves pretty much.

The annexe was heated by electric heaters which you will definitely need in the winter months. There is mention of tight parking for larger vehicles. The parking was adequate but it is a narrow gateway and driveway to the parking but it was absolutely fine with careful driving! The website stated it had a crib for our little one but on checking beforehand it is not something they provide so we had to take our travel cot which there was plenty of room for.

The spectacular gardens and the engaging host. The fridge and jacuzzi bath were a bit special too.

Host met us at the door and explained about the facilities and gardens. Bed was comfortable and facilities (kettle, wi fi etc) were fine. Service at breakfast was good and the food well prepared and sufficient in quantity

Channels on TV were a bit limited but we did not go there to watch TV!

Beautiful room with v spacious bathroom. Everything available and working. Lovely breakfast with a wide choice available. Great hosts, v easy and interesting to talk to. Great friendly local pub too.

We were made very welcomed upon our arrival and throughout our stay. Alan and Alesia went out of their way to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. The Indian Suite was very peaceful. The comfortable bed, chairs next to the window and the refrigerator added to the comfort and convenience. The choice of breakfast was personalised (especially useful because my husband is gluten and dairy free). We were also able to order a delicious packed lunch (including dairy and gluten free) to take on our walk. We were given a guide to the gardens. This helped us to appreciate the different gardens and at the same time enjoy their beauty. The gardens are beautiful – it was always a pleasure to listen to the trickling water, singing birds, sitting on the carefully-placed seats and enjoying the different subtle floral aromas and views.
