First, we had to wait 30 minutes before someone arrived to let us check in and at midnight the receptionist came in because the "room didn't seem rented in his system" eversince we have severe issues sleeping in hotel rooms

The service I received was terrible the staff kept getting food and drink orders wrong, the room I stayed in I was expecting a lot better for what i paid! All the walls were covered in scratches and marks the cleaners did a rubbish job of cleaning the room everyday, they was not cleaned properly leaving rubbish etc in the rooms, the rooms need painting and refreshing I will not be staying here again

I liked the accommodation . I didn’t like to wait at the reception desk when checking in where nobody seemed to be around . I suggest to install a plug to load a usb stick in the room

Good standard hotel which is clean and comfortable. I have stayed here before and will use the hotel again in the future

Not a very good hotel. Room was not clean but dirty and a lot of dust. Bad noise cancellation, you could hear a lot of noises of other guests. But the worst thing, when we checked out at 12pm, we wanted to have lunch. I looked up on google what Bastions lunch menu was. Turned out they dont serve lunch at all. Very disappointing. Wehadto leave starving. Overal not a great hotel, they charge too much in comparison what you get.

Don't even think booking a night there... unhelpful. Sleeping under a bridge might be a better option.

I booked 10 rooms for my colleagues and I with the option to pay at the hotel premises, However the hotel system did not show this in our reservations. At the end all rooms were prepaid with my credit card. I don't know if this is an error on the hotel side or hotels.com. In any case it is now a mess to settle the payments for so many people. The hotel corridors need some maintenance, the rugs have big spots on them, almost resembling someone bleeding all over and then the area being bleached. The towels had big holes in them. The people at reception were polite and apologized for the towels, however this is not the level you expect for this type of hotel. Utrecht is small and transportation is easy, so only reason to stay at Bastion is if you must for location and logistics reasons, otherwise not recommended.

Great location for buses and trams or via a walk along the canal. Friendly and responsive staff. Clean and secure. On the downside, out TV didn't work. We switched remotes and discovered the problem was with the plug socket. It wasn't fixed while we were there and there was no offer of a room change. TV problem apart, I would definitely stay there again.

Staff was great. Towels smelled like not clean. Room and walls were not very clean. Tables had prior cup marks/spills not cleaned off.

Very nice staff, great location & the free parking is a huge bonus, easy access to the city (about 10 minutes on tram). Bathroom great, air-con great, fridge perfect for beer & real milk for tea & coffee, unfortunately there is no kettle, just a useless coffee machine that is horrible to use & fails to work, more than it works. Bed comfortable, room clean & tidy, plenty of hot water for the shower.

Overall it was fine. We didn't like the way the bed was made it looked like it was done in a hurry. The mini fridge/cooler was not working properly. A planchet in the shower would be nice we had to put our things on the floor. The bathroom was clean and comfortable though. Extra pillows were nowhere to be found in the (empty) closets. Because it was weekend the dining was limited with only a few options. The taste was ok. The breakfast on sunday was very good.

Nice that you can park hotel is clean and nice Environmental to abstract , it’s good if you are passing through.

Hard to regulate heating otherwise good room. Too much perfume is used in the detergents in hallways and fumes from the kitchen in the staircase.

basic hotelrooms, no shower gel available, so bring your own. (i would believe this is standard nowadays) Restaurant i would rate 5/10. waiters unknown of what they have or how they need to serve. Asking for alcohol free beer. answer is sorry i don't know anything about beer ... then get a bottle without a glass ... But as a positive note they stay polite and you can see they try their best. So probably more a management/training issue. Food is not fresh, mine was still frozen in the middle and the fish didn't smell very nice to be honest. If this is just for a 1 night stopover its good enough, but for a longer stay i would look for something else

Check in and check out was extreme slow. Breakfast was empty at 8.30, no juice, no egg, no bacon, seems to be understaffed. Will never come back.

it's was a nice stay, only the service in reception was not that great. I have been waiting minust before someone came. she had costumers at the bar, it's okay but ik you ring the bell to chek in, and she is talking without giving service. that's not good, i was not the only at the reception. My card did not work in first place to the room, but when i came down. the same happend agine. i had to aske two-three time, still with other guest waiting to check in. and the service in the resturants was also not that good, same as the reception. But the room where nice, and good location for business trip. Food also OK it's what you can ask for the money, so that really good.

I was running late for a meeting. So, I didn't check my hotel room for the moment I walked inside. The next morning, I found a big male underwear on the floor close to the window area. Since I was in hurry, I left it on the floor. When I came back to hotel in late night the 2nd night, I found the underwear still was there. I brought it down to reception. The manage apologised, and asked me whether I want to change room. It was late at night, I was too tired to do so. So, I declined her offer. I really feel uncomfortable with this accident, and wondering whether they have clean the room.

The hotel was nice, clean and the employees were friendly, but we had a situation that made the whole experience pretty bad. The fire alarm system went off in the middle of the night and woke us up. We headed downstairs to get further instructions and information. We found some hotel guests standing in the lobby, and no employees to be found. We decided to at least head outside in case there was a fire. After a little while, we saw that some of the other guests were heading back to their rooms, and we finally saw the hotel employee that was working the night shift. She was extremely stressed and was running back and forth while talking on the phone. This went on for a little while, and most of the guests were heading back to their room at this point with no info. We were reluctant to head back before we got an update on the situation. Nobody got in to their rooms again because some system had locked everybody out. The hotel worker was letting people back in, and we decided to do the same. I talked to the employee as she was unlocking our door to understand what had happened. She informed me that it was a system issue with the fire alarm, and that she thought it had happened three times before, but this was the first time it had happened while she was working. I informed the employee that I was very displeased with the way she handeled the situation, and that if the fire was real, her actions could have made the situation much worse. Most guests never left their rooms at all.

Stayed here for one night with family. The receptionist was moderately grumpy although the bar woman later much friendlier. I used the stairs and on every floor the cleaners cupboards were open with the trolleys sticking out not properly put away. The rooms were on the small side and the bathroom pokey. the beds were comforable and the room temperature fine. My biggest gripe was the smoking lounge which is situated in the lobby immediately as you walk in. the door was never closed so the downstairs smelt of cigarette smoke. Im an ex smoker but still found it offensive, I thought wed moved on from having to breathe second hand smoke. Also the pool table and television were in there but I didnt let my kids go in because of the smokers. We went into utrecht by tram in the evening and were up and off without breakfast in the morning so it was really just a place to put our heads down , so it served that purpose. I would not stay there again .

Staff are good, food is good, bar is good. Rooms are old, beds are worn out. Cobwebs in the room. Stayed quite a few times at this hotel over the past years, but the rooms really let this place down. Dont know quite why it has got this bad, but I wont be back.

AC did not work in the middle of July with 42°, wifi did not work, no answering the phone in the front desk desk. They gave us no solution. Refuse to switch rooms, refund or even provide a fan.We slept with the window open with all street noise and sweating all night. The only positive thing was the Free parking
