Room was comfortable enough. The place is obviously not the newest but the bathroom and shower looked new and were very nice. There was a dead cockroach in my room when I arrived but everything else was otherwise clean. It seemed a little annoying that you have to request the key to take a shower. I also felt a little annoyed by the 'don't talk on the phone in your room after 9pm' rule since I chose a hotel specifically with private rooms because I planned to talk on the phone and the booking page didn't say anything about that. I read that the local area isn't safe but I didn't have any problems there. It was convenient enough for places I planned to go to.

I was happy for only staying one night. The room was like a prisoners room with a stealen door and the environment of the hotel was kind of disturbing. For only one night completely without any requirements of comfort it is fine. For alone travelling women it could be a strange experience.

Good location, good staff, good room. I was impressed Tatami bed style. It's feel Japan. But toilet not good, better to use Spa world nearby. Totals good for new experience.

The hostel has a public bathroom and only one private bathroom, if you want to use private you have to wait

Only bad thing is if you are a woman you need to get a key for the bathroom everytime at the reception

Considering the price, the location, cleanness and room facilities are all great and I would recommend staying here BUT we found bed bugs. Its probably no fault of the hotel on its own as it could have just been the guest before us. Until other positive reviews come through bed bug free, Id avoid staying here.

I found that, his place is used as some sort of homeless shelter for someone on welfare checks. This hotel is located in the middle of trashy part of town with full of homeless partying day and night on the streets nearby. Several minutes walk to nearest train stations through street full of trashy day workers and mentally ill people. Bed sheets are changed once or less a week. Room needs to be cleaned by passenger himself. Bugs are found here and there at times and rolls of newspapers could become quite handy. Some hotel staff are kind, though some staff could be quite nasty and mean. Good enough for some place to crush in, after a day long hiking. The place provides a good enough privacy compare to a sleeping cubicle at some capsule sauna. Good price for someone who wants to save on place to stay and wants to spend money on food and sight seeing.

My stay at Hotel Wako is very pleasant and I recommended to especially solo travelers and backpackers. The staff very nice. It just that you have to share the shower room but believe me, the shower room is very nice and clean.

As this price, what will you expect? It is the first choice of low budget hotel. It has air condition, TV and fridge in your room. Although it has time control in the shower room, it is clean and tidy. (It is closed at 00:00 daily.)

Filthy room and building reeked of human filth and mold. Rude staff, dangerous and noisy neighborhood filled with drunks and/or homeless people. I was glad the police building was across the street because I feared needing them urgently at any moment!

The residents share one public bathroom and one private shower room. They are clean and comfortable but it will be better if there is a fixed hair dryer in it but not in the reception. Also it is better to extend the opening hour of shower room to 24 hours.

This hotel is not in a good location . It is situated in the poorest area of Osaka , so you will notice alot of scruffy and homeless people roaming about . The red light district is not far away from the hotel location either. A police station is situated directly across from the hotel. I would not suggested young women traverse the area in the evenings. It's Japan so it is generally still safe but perhaps not the wisest decision and certainly not the most comfortable. The staff were helpful enough. You will find the complex feels a little like a prison, steel doors on the rooms and some rather messy toilet areas. The rooms are tiny , unusual smell also. Probably due to the type of people frequenting the area.

... this hotel review is mostly being reviewed by someone easily pleased so decide for yourself based on what comfort you like in a room. The room is really small and consists of a thin futon on a tatami floor (but there are rooms that have a twin size western style bed - I saw them cleaning one once when I went back to my room) and with the futon supported by a foldable cushion to make it softer. It has a small table that you can only use by sitting on the floor, a cupboard for clothes with a few hangers, mini fridge to store your food and a really old tv. The view from the room only let's you see the windows from other rooms so of you like privacy you might want to draw the curtains closed. There's also a heater in the room with a remote but the buttons are, of course, in Japanese so you might want to look up an online translation for the buttons to avoid using the cold air feature (I had to do it since I accidentally used the air conditioner feature once). As mentioned, your room doesn't have a bathroom so if you need to use the facilities you go to another room. It's a same sex bathroom so you might end up seeing a male peeing in a urinal on your way to the toilet. But it has a western and Japanese style toilet with a nice Toto bottom washing, bidet and warm seat installed. There is a woman's and a separate men's shower so you won't need to be worry about someone coming in. The front desk gives you a key to access the room and then you can lock it behind you.
