Brilliant staff, delapedated rooms with falling off skirting, ceiling tiles and bath seals which make a proper clean impossible. Stuff were kind and responsive and moved us to a slightly less than terrible room. Only stay if you don't mind exceptionally loud banging music. To be fair it switches off completely at 11 but up until then very noisy.

Felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The receptionist was very professionsl and polite but the reception area was drab and slightly sleazy. Very noisy bar downstairs and outside the front of the hotel just below my window. Very noisy neighbours. Shower fixture and light over sink broken in bathroom. Carpet worn. Bit of a joke considering you had to pay an upfront £50 damage deposit! Would not stay here again.

I'm very familiar with the area and it's a great one. I stayed in a single bed room this time and it was lovely, efficient and clean as per usual (albeit it's not the most modern fittings). This time around however I was genuinely worried about how stable the room was as the room moved a lot as I walked across the floor and I noticed a lot of jaunty angles in the plaster. It was enough motion to make me feel dizzy and somewhat sick. I'd hate for this hotel to have some sort of instability.

If you want a quite place to sleep and receive what you paid for, avoid this hotel. The hotel description is misleading. The booking says that includes continental breakfast, but this was not offered and the explanation of the hotel stuff is that they don't offer it any more but this is not described online. They just offer a poor bag to go with an apple, cereal bar, small chocolate bun and small fruit juice. Furthermore, they claim offering car park, however this is checked by an external company and we had to register the can in a tablet device in the reception that was not working properly and did not provide any receipt that this was done. Due to that, we may get charged a fee for something we had already paid for. Additionally, the hotel has a pub underneath, the rooms are not properly heat and sound insulated and as a result the room was too noisy to sleep until very late midnight. Furthermore, the floors were on bad condition and we could strongly listen people moving around in other rooms and on the corridor making it hard to sleep. Clearly not recommended for people want to explore the city and relax.

Don't bother of you value sleep. Being situated right over a bar, not to mention the whole of Osborne road is literally lined with clubs & hotels, you will not get much sleep at all. Loud music below you until 11pm, people yelling outside and someone constantly slamming doors will be what you can expect. The staff are lovely & I received a warm welcome but they can do little for the noise. Bring earplugs!! £50 deposit required upon entry in case of damage to the room although the room is very outdated and falling apart anyways so not sure you could damage it much further (see pics). Bed & bedding was lovely & clean. The rest has clearly been attempted to be cleaned, but at this point it's just glossing over the cracks. Would describe this hotel as "extremely budget" and wouldn't recommend. Edit: was moved rooms when i complained and the noise from the bar & dj was a lot less however noisy neighbouring rooms meant I still got little sleep. Shower was not clean & riddled with black mold.

If I had really understood what the hotel was like I would have chosen somewhere else. I was in the area overnight to visit my son at university and it was not suitable for me at all. The hotel is above a sports bar. The restaurant is located in the bar so it's not a great place in the afternoon or evening, especially for a female travelling alone. The room was so small that there was no door on the bathroom in my bedroom, so I got a great view of the toilet from my bed. The wallpaper above the bed was peeling. The walls were extremely thin. It wasn't an experience I want to repeat. The night staff were very helpful and friendly, though, and the room was clean.

The rooms are outdated need a good paint job no door on bathroom , checked out 0700 no sign of any break fast

The staff were polite and helpful, though I arrived late. Single room was quiet, all necessary items there. Good value. Could have had a large breakfast of toast and pancakes.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean but a bit tired with wallpaper peeling and a phone line not yet properly installed creating a trip hazard as you walked in. The tea spoon of the room’s coffee set had already been used as it was covered in a sticky coffee residue. Breakfast was a bit lacking - toast, a small selection of yoghurts, flapjack and some cut melon. Both juice dispensers were empty and an offering of cereal would have been nice. In fairness the hotel was at capacity for the Great North Run so I might just have been in a room that’s normally less used and due a refresh - it was otherwise quite comfortable. I can’t grumble for the price and it did the job for a business trip.

First the good stuff, the staff were lovely and helpful. The onsite bar is really good in the evening. On arrival, we were asked for a £50 safety bond to Guarantee we didnt damage the room! Our first room was not good, dirty marks on the wall, and tiny. On asking, we were shown another which was also small. Third attempt was a bigger room. By this time, we were fed up and agreed to stay after considering leaving. Continental breakfast is a toaster, bread, pancakes and a small bowl of assorted fruit. In short, this is a hotel crying out for modernisation and some TLC in a prime location too. Do this and we would consider returning but until then, sorry just cant.

Very dirty hotel!!! Food cheap for a reason. . . . Out dated, dirty, cheap. . . . Never again! Staff really lovely they have alot of challenges . . . However hoovering the carpet is not 1 of them

Very shabby, curtains were hanging off. Generally very tatty but dud not spoil our stay.

Bar and food prices very reasonable

The hotel was terrible. The shower was mouldy, the bed springs had collapsed, the bedside tables were hanging off the wall and it was noisy. We had paid for 2 nights but left after one as we could not face another night.

The room was directly opposite the bar and on the same corridor as the toilets so was very noisy until after closing. It was possible to hear every word of conversations in the ladies as well as other noises. There was no soundproofing on the door and frankly it was a bit intimidating having people crashing around outside the bedroom. Also there was only a blackout curtain on half the window so it was light in the room from 4am.

Had a lovely stay at the White's hotel, staff were amazing, especially Rebecca the receptionist. Lovely bar, lovely food and a range of vegan food.

A bit dated and the lack of a secure place to leave luggage is a bit poor. I got a night’s sleep but that’s about all I could say for the place

The property was well located. Sadly, it was in rather a shoddy state (worn carpets; generally tired look; poor water pressure in shower with water supply to shower running out on occasion); rather ungenerous breakfast.

DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START REALLY. rOOM SO BASIC. nOHEATING ON A COLD sATURDAY AFTERNOON. Reception said they would check the room. Speaking to other guests , they had the same problem. One lady slept in her coat. Agentleman couldn't get the showere to balance the temperature. Bare wooden floors. Evidence of damage in the room. You have to pay£50 damage deposit up front. Downstairs bar is full of students. BREAKFAST WAS A DISGRACE. CRUST OF TOAST PLUS A SLICE OF BREAD ON A PAPER TISSUE AS THERE WERE NO PLATES AVAILABLE. THE RECEPTIONIST WAS COVERING THE DINING ROOM

Arrived at Whites about 5 o'clock and cancelled my stay within 5 minutes. Staff apologised for the excessive noise from the crowd in the bar and beer garden. Room was freezing cold and damp - no heating. The hotel’s website boasts it is a warm, cosy and comfortable place to stay and claims boldly and loudly to be “A WARM WELCOME TO WHITES HOTEL NEWCASTLE“ This was clearly not what I found so I cancelled and asked for a refund of my booking fee. The booking was made with certain conditions about the payment being non-returnable, nevertheless, I always believe the conditions that prevail when a guest arrives to stay, eat and sleep need to be acceptable when seen. I tried to discuss a refund but got no response to emails - I sent 3 emails to each of the following addresses [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] I did not receive any replies. Clearly the management at this hotel do not have anything but contempt for their customers. I found better (warm and quiet) alternative accommodation nearby.

Parking was good. Cleanliness of hotel was very poor.

Comfy night

Not like photos, very dated even scruffy looking, sick on the pavement outside and very loud, okay I guess for lads night out but would not recommend for family even if you dislike them.
