Nice hotel and location…room could do with an update though

After we arrived we were informed that there was no elevator to our room. The beans in the room were so low we couldn't move about the room without hunching over. We were supposed to get VIP status but the front desk knew nothing about it and to top it off or new car was broken into on our list night and the rest window completely smashed out. This is apparently a common occurrence at this hotel. Would never risk staying there again.

We had a great experience at the hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Small issue with the curtain that was quickly resolved. Curtains and bedding were dated but clean as was the rest of the room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great stay. Very reasonable price for a large but cosy attic room, complete with a fireplace, and a jetted bathtub. Breakfast was included but was pretty basic for the quality of the hotel, but everything else was great!

Lovely building, quiet, and comfy bed. Staff was friendly and courteous. Towels, bedding and overall room were clean but there were visible water streaks and handprints on bathroom walks. Just felt a little neglected. Room could also use some optional brighter lighting.
Enjoyed the location - was able to walk the area and find nice shops and restaurants. Would stay here again and do more exploring by foot.

My stay was truly great Only thing I found was there is a smell in certain areas of the hotel and I believe it's due to the carpet being old.

We were on the 4th floor woth a view of the parking lot. It was very noisy on Sat night and didnt queit down past two the morning. Also no elevator service to the 4th floor so you gotta take the stairs from the 3rd floor.
That said, location and the cost for the stay were excellent.

Staff was pleasant and location excellent. The rooms need some updating. The furniture placement is awkward, the bed is right next to the door to the hallway.

Very clean hotel and room. We were very comfortable. Only negative was the room had a strange set up with very little natural light.

I booked the room in part because it had a beautiful big bathtub but we never got to use it because the plug was broken. We reported the problem and were told it would be fixed the next day but it wasn’t. Otherwise it was a lovely stay but that one detail was a disappointment.

What a beautiful stay in downtown St John's!
Room was great size, comfy bed, good shower. Location is great. Only downside is their elevator only goes to 3rd floor. So if your room is on the 4th floor like ours then have to hike up extra level by stairs

Front desk did not tell me that I had to walk a flight of stairs with my 50lb luggage. Had to go two floors to get ice. And the bath towel in the room looked like an old rag as it was all tattered. Pic available if needed

Room was large & comfortable. Had everything we needed. The location was perfect walked to pubs and restaurants, Jellybean Row, the Rooms…..

Perfect location! Place is a little dated with stained carpet.
Breakfast « to go » was the worse I have seen. Muffins and croissant were wrapped in cellophane plastic and were gooey. They offered oatmeal but no bowls so coffee cup it was. Not toast, no toaster.

Rooms are tired and in need of an update, the continental breakfast was disappointing to say the least, croissants with no filling, no eggs, no meat & cheese, no toast, the cereal was microwaveable but no microwave. The breakfast really let the hotel down.

Best location in town for every activity you could imagine -,food , george street , and waterfront all within 200 feet . Historic building , natural heavy timber structure, 2 ft thick stone walls . Always stay there when in town . Love it .

Great historic building with lots of charm. It was very convenient. We were in room 211 and could hear all convos directly above us clear as day. Very dark dated room. We stayed for 3 nights and on the 1st morning we complained that the door latch plate was broken and nobody came to fix it. Lastly the breakfast was a disaster. Tiny room so never a spot to sit. No plates or trays. No bowls for instant porridge and even if you made it in the paper coffee cups there were only individual milks for coffee to put on it.

Great stay as usual. Breakfast is basic but what you would enjoy as a cold breakfast. Rooms are a little noisy but always great service and right in the heart of downtown.

A great boutique hotel well located to drive around or just walk, it was too bad that the view was ruined by the restaurants across the street though.
Why they were allowed to be built there is sad.

If this hotel had HVAC from this century it would have been an excellent stay. 71 decibels (blow dryer / vacuum level). It ran all night the first night so we asked to be moved. The second night it only ran for 15 minutes every hour. Still tough to sleep.
