This home is just as advertised. Great views of Penn Cove, very private beach (when the tide is out), and enough amenities all around. We really enjoyed the patio fireplace and having access to the beach, it was great. Great communication with the property managers as well. Only non-ideal items were the parking...it's right off a popular road so pulling out isn't idea. They also don't have basic cable, so it was a bummer when we could not watch the College Football Playoff. But, we still had a great stay and it's a great house.

This rental is handled by a property management company instead of being lovingly maintained by a passionate owner. Details that an individual owner would have probably taken care of are not tended to by this management company. An example is the box of dusty, disheveled DVD's which was really unappealing or the random box of puzzle pieces and random game pieces. There is a binder with information but could be more tailored to that specific property for the sake of clarity. We were excited to sit in front of the fire and look at the water but there is a switch (they are everywhere, it's kind of a hassle to get to know what switch does what) that has a note on it that says it HAS to be on when the fireplace is on. Problem is, it makes a terrible motor sound. The opposite of relaxing! When we first came in it smelled musty but we didn't notice it after that. We did see several pee stains from pets on the carpet, which was a turn off. PROS: Hot tub is really great, there are plenty of towels to go around, and there is a lot of sunlight.

Grandparents to 6 year old stayed and all loved this place. The steps down to the shore were awesome. I was thinking they might be a bit steep or rickety but not at all! They led down to an awesome lawn shielded by the bulkhead for sitting and enjoying the shore regardless of the tide. My daughter endlessly loved spotting crabs and seals. The views, sunset and sunrises were spectacular, especially from the hot tub. Watching the penn cove mussel harvesting was interesting. It’s so close to Coupeville but also super private. We didn’t see another soul on the shore the entire stay. House had everything we need and was a comfortable retreat. Can’t wait to return!

The house was exactly as the photos showed. It has a beautiful view. All the bed were comfy, even the bed in the loft. Although difficult to climb up the ladder. It was awesome to wake up, have your coffee and walk along the bay. There was a very musty smell in the down stairs. Not alot of towels for the amount of guests it sleeps. But there were specific hot tub towels. Only 2 wash clothes. The kitchen was great, fully stocked with dishes. The water pressure however isn't very strong at all. Tough for washing shampoo out of your hair. But all in all a great experience.

We had a fabulous stay at this home. Took our paddle board out on the bay, kayaked to the Captain Whidbey for lunch, rode our bikes to the ferry terminal and enjoyed watching the seals sun bathe. We want to clarify that one bathroom is downstairs between the two bedrooms and the second bathroom is on the main floor. The third bedroom is a loft up very steep stairs. So can be challenging if you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Overall, we loved the Evans home and the location is wonderful!

Beautiful views from the amazing decks! Great location only one mile from town and the Captain Whidbey. Ebby landing and beach hiking just 5 minutes away. We had a great 6 nights!

My partner and I stayed at the Evans Beach House for eight days in July. The property is centrally located on Whidbey Island. The bed was very very comfortable. The house was well stocked with everything we needed to make dinners at home. We would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at this home. However, the owners request that the heat be turned down to 50 degrees so the lower bedrooms smelled musty. The maintenance staff needed to wash the exterior downstairs windows as they were extremely dirty. The kitchen is well maintained with lots of dishes and cookware. However, there were only 2 coffee mugs so perhaps they can be replenished. I also suggest that you add a pancake grill. The outdoor BBQ was very clean and we used it on two occasions. The home is within walking distance to town and has a wonderful view!

There is a bunch of sea life; tiny shore crab and fish, mussles, barnacles, seals, and numerous species of bird including quail, heron, and bald eagle. The decks make it feel as though you are in a tree house. The location was perfect for us as well, only a short drive to the "big" town with grocery store, Walmart, dining, etc, but less than 5 to Coupeville, quaint little village with fine dining, bakery, wharf, and shops. My 14 year old absolutely adored the loft and said it w as the perfect place for her. She loved waking up to the gorgeous view.

Fabulous home! Great weekend, centrally located to Coupeville and Oak Harbor for the marathon weekend. We were able to bring our dog (thank you!). There isn’t a great place to walk the dog; he didn’t like walking through the shells on the beach. But this didn’t detract from the weekend! Good amenities: gas fire stove plus fire pit at the beach, comfortable seating on the deck to watch the sunset!

Went up for a few days over spring break with my 9 and 12 year olds. In general the house was decently clean compared to other VRBOs we have stayed in. Linens are getting worn/ stained and need to be replaced soon. It was also well stocked with the basics so we didn’t have to run to the store for stuff like paper towels and coffee filters, which was much appreciated. They could use upgrades on some items (the hairdryer didn’t have any heat) and we were disappointed the hot tub was as dirty as it was - we rented the house to test out our new paddle boards out back (house was set up great for that!) but with the chilly weather we really wanted the hot tub at the end of the day and it was so dirty even my 9 yr old wouldn’t get in it. We called for service and I spoke to a woman at the rental agency who said a service company would come out, but they never showed up.

We had a fantastic stay for Musselfest at this bright and beautiful Coupeville home. The house looks out over the mussel farms in Penn Cove and we enjoyed gorgeous sunsets both nights of our stay. Property managers were very responsive. Highly recommend this lovely house!

Private and secluded. Management went out of their way no matter how small. One even came after hours to help. She was great. Great location. Thank you

The beach is many steps down and very narrow if the tide is high, not at all satisfactory when dark. Also, bed location should be looked at carefully by prospective renters.

Great experience for a Thanksgiving weekend

Wonderful property! Expansive views of Penn Cove from the living room, kitchen and bedroom. Very comfy beds. Wonderful deck to sit and enjoy the view. And BBCat night the fireplace is nice and toasty. Great place to unwind and relax! The hot tub was a great plus.

We were in town for a wedding, and were pleased with the location of the house and the ease to check in and out. The house was what we expected from the listing and we would definitely stay here again!

From beginning to end it was a beautiful stay and a perfect location to see everything on the island. Our party of five adults thoroughly enjoyed the house. The seals were swimming right in front of the deck everyday & we even had the resident eagle make several appearances including a morning breakfast of crab right outside the deck on the beach. So awesome being so close to Nature!

We spent a lot of time down by the water Harvesting Mussels, clams and Oysters which can all be found at low tide just down on the beach below. The only thing I would have changed about the stay is the weather. This water front property is no exception that when the forecast says it will be cold and windy it will be colder and windier next to the water. We were hoping for a little more warmth during our stay but never really got it. Thanks to the Tara Property Team for having a little gem like this on the market. It was a great extended weekend home away from home for our family to hang out to celebrate my sons graduation.

When you first enter the home, you are greeted with a full-blown view of Penn Cove. Our mouths dropped at the sight of that view. While we spent a few days wandering around the BC area, we spent the rest of the time on island and relaxing at the home, which fit our needs very well.The only downsides were that the cookware needs an update. Because it is supposedly non-stick, it should be changed out, but the pans are very worn, so everything we cooked stuck. Aside from that, we had a lot of luck using the outdoor grill and had wonderful coffee every morning. One other thing that should be mentioned is the windows. Since they are the main point of the home, they could use a good thorough cleaning inside and out. But...hanging out on the deck sure made up for the lack of clean windows as well as listening to the birds in the morning. Lastly...and this is a very happy discovery...but, the eagles! We were wowed one early afternoon as we watched one of the resident eagles swoop down into the cove real close by and then fly right in front of the deck on its way to its nest. It was absolutely awesome. Afterward, my hubby and I took a walk along the beach to the Coupeville wharf and on the way noticed two more eagles. One in a tree above our heads and the other a juvenile eagle along the shore. I shouldn't have said lastly above...but now it is lastly. On our first night at the house, we were all in the hot tub when I heard a blow hole in the cove. I turned to see the back of what I believe was a hump back whale peaking up and then disappearing in the water. Now, that's a warm welcome to Penn Cove if anything. Since we were unable to stay in our previous rental we decided to give the Evans house a try. The location was wonderful, right on the water, beautiful home and very quiet. We were disappointed with the cleanliness and lack of maintenance of the home. This very much surprised and disappointed us. We realized a group checked out the morning of our arrival which can make for a quick turn around, but the fridge and stove hadn’t been touched. I had to clean both before using them. Kitchen drawers and cupboards were full of crumbs and just plain a mess. This home really needs a deep general cleaning which we would think it would have received during the slow season. The hot tub was not working, but the property manager did work to resolve the issue, we were able to use it the last night of our 8 nite stay. Also the keurig coffee maker and dishwasher did not work at all. It seems the owners may need to visit their home and see it through a renters eyes. We will not stay in this home again.
