Absolutely loved this hotel!

This is a beautiful and wonderful hotel but do take note of the noisy karaoke performance in the month of The Hungry Ghost Festival, request for rooms far far away from the main road :)

There was no shampoo, but two conditioners instead. I called the front desk, but the shampoo had not arrived even after 15 minutes, so I went to the front desk to pick it up with wet hair. I was shown to the breakfast terrace and seated, but the lady in charge did not notice me, so I walked over to order tea, which resulted in the wrong coffee being brought. She was not focused. The female staff in the lobby restaurant was unpleasant, overbearing without a smile, I ordered a medium steak and it was perfectly well done, the meat was a hard stringy part at the edge, the male staff asked how the food was and I told him it was well done, he just laughed. I visited expecting Oriental Hotel service but was disappointed.

The E&O is a charming and beautiful property which is located right on the sea in Georgetown. It is an old and lovely property. The staff are very warm and welcoming. But it is in fairly poor condition with the rooms in need of refurbishment. We had rooms right below where the drilling was happening. They did change us out but only after several calls. The bar and restaurant are top class. The breakfast is excellent. But the menu was the same all the 4 days. Overall I would highly recommend it but please lower your expectations that the power outlets might not always work or the shower diverter might be broken. Take these things in your stride and you will be fine.

The TV is old and fuzzy, a throwback to the TV of yore. Pool is rather small, three strokes and it’s a lap. Staff was attentive though.

The room facing the sea was beautiful. Especially liked the afternoon checkin from staff to get supplies ie water bottles twice daily since the weather is so hot. Staff were friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed all the dining options available on-site.

Stay was lovely. Breakfast buffet was awesome. Lots of local cuisine as well as Western choices.

Booked seaview room…… hotel arranged a partially seaview + city room. Heard the traffic during at night because we were closed to the road side.

Great hotel. Either the Heritage or Annex victory is great.Rooms are huge. We stayed at the annexed Victory wing and have a great view of the sea. Breakfast buffet was spectacular. Rooms need updating especially the TV. Wall charges on bed side should include USB charges. The big negative is crossing the street from the hotel. Seems like this is a big issue with many guest trying to cross the street.

Lovely hotel, with every attention to detail. Breakfast and seafood buffet were exceptional. The view from my room was amazing. Happily recommend this to other travellers to Penang

Highly recommend

It is by far one of the best places I have stayed without spending an arm and a leg. We traveled from Australia and were impressed by the breakfast inclusion with room along with complimentary mini bar and bottled water throughout. We also had buffet dinner which was worth it. The place was so surreal and relaxing. The facilities and staff were excellent.
