This place is AMAZING! The decor and overall vibe of “brooding romantic” is done perfectly. The staff was amazing on every shift, the complimentary breakfast has one the best spreads I’ve ever seen, the onsite bar was lively most nights with good drinks, an experienced, friendly bartender and useful hours. The hotel was generally well booked and I rarely heard another guest, the rooms were unique and as nice as the rest of hotel was. Only downsides would be the parking situation which, is most conveniently, found across the street in the parking structure at $10/24hrs max, $1/hr and the tub/shower could use updating, at least in the room I was in. Put in a nice walk in shower with a rain head and side jets and I would’ve probably just moved in. I stayed here for a week total with 2 extensions because of work issues and the staff was so accommodating, service was amazing and I KNOW that I was a pain sometimes, they never made me feel like one. I stay in a lot of hotels while traveling for work and at this price point, as well as many above it, it was hands down the best I’ve ever experienced. Bravo to those involved in making this hotel what it is, I hope I return to Des Moines just for a chance to experience this place again.

We were welcomed kindly, given pertinent information, then we were free to enjoy our beautiful room. Also free to explore the very clean and interesting downtown area on foot.

Great area and close to all downtown shopping. A refreshing change from the big box hotels with a great atmosphere and above average breakfast. Would defiantly stay again if in the area.

Great place right by Court Avenue

The hotel is beautiful - staff was wonderful. Parking isn’t super convenient but they make it work and as easy as they can with their limitations! Our refrigerator was broken so we lost all our food, our fault for not checking before we used it.

This is the place to stay while visiting DM. Super helpful staff ready to accommodate bicyclists.

Was beautiful great free breakfast

We absolutely loved this hotel. First it’s absolutely gorgeous. No detail was forgotten. Even the hallways are beautiful. The staff was wonderful and helped us setup balloons and a surprise cake for our son’s 13th birthday! They went over and beyond! The martini bar was great too. We were really impressed with everything. We will definitely stay here again when in town!!

Love the historic building and beautiful decor! The room was very spacious - compared to most hotel rooms these days, and the bed was comfortable.

A stop-over on a longer trip. Front desk people were very friendly and great at making recommendations for dinner and explaining the hotel’s services.
