Awesome once again

Lots of character. The lady in charge, Mary, is very efficient, friendly and a wonderful cook. Our room was on the 3rd floor. Lots of stairs to climb with or without luggage. Spacious room with 2 queen beds and modern bathroom. Not too bad walking downhill to Water St but brutal walking back. Lots of steep hills.

This is a bed and breakfast in a beautifully decorated, ornate, historical mansion. Don't expect the same level of service as a hotel. The bedrooms are nicely updated to today's standards, but both the inside and outside staircases require maintenance attention. The proprietor is friendly and was avaliable in the mornings to regale us with information about the mansion and the city. We enjoyed our stay.

Phenomenal historic architecture! A service and welcome. Amazing location. Number one place we stayed during our trip to the Maritimes. Very private and cosy beyond expectation.

If you want a relaxing stay in the city, then book the Ryan Mansion. Owners were knowledgeable about the history of the property, as well as St. John’s. The room was immaculate like the rest of the house and the breakfasts were copious and delicious! The hosts are so personable and friendly-super nice! We strongly recommend this inn and will be returning!

Not as advertised. Deluxe king room turned out to be an attic with a tiny window and a free standing ac unit that was to loud to leave on. The advertised bath with TV was missing the TV Also missing the advertised fridge. At best this is an overpriced B&B. Overall we paid way to much for a very unpleasant experience.

Fabulous property with lots of history and a gorgeous location close to downtown St. John's. If you're looking for something a little different than an ordinary hotel, this is definitely the place to stay. The woodwork is astounding - and Royalty has stayed here. Fabulous!

Outstanding! Newfoundland hospitality at its finest! The House, as they call it is absolutely magnificent, rooms are spacious with gorgeous bathroom, super comfy bed and nespresso coffee maker. Everything was absolutely spotless. The House oozes of history and is an experience in its own right. It’s at a great location to walk to downtown, the Harbor or to the Rooms. But what stood out the most, was the love and kindness that Robert and Mary showed us. We were welcomed like family and felt so at home there. Mary cooks beautiful and delicious breakfasts. This is a special place and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone.

The bad - Overpriced for this facility. Online advertising deceptive. Represented as 550 square foot room. Actual may indeed be 550 square feet BUT.... actual bedroom was closer to 200 square feet, in fact bed was barely 18 inches from entrance door. Rest was hallway connecting to another 200 square foot room containing bathtub, 1 chair and TV. For us, not useful at all during our 7 night stay. In short, not worth the cost. The good - Only one staff person, Mary, who did everything. Mary is outgoing and pleasant and always helpful. The hotel is well located for just about everything. Breakfast was always tasty. Summary - At a lower price, to match what is offered, and a more honest representation of space being offered, I would recommend this hotel. Mary was delightful! Breakfast was always good despite the fact that we had dietary and allergy issues.

A great experience. Accommodations were excellent and the staff extremely friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend the Mansion an plan to return again in the future.
