This home is a perfect place for a family to gather.. pool,, hot tub, game tables and a well stocked home made for a great home base for our trip to Santa Barbara. Thank you Wendy and Chuck!

Very quiet location. The backyard pool and spa are fabulous!

We came to this house for a quick weekend from LA with another family. The 8 of us were very happy. The kitchen had everything you needed and then some. The pool was delightful. Aside from the record breaking heatwave that weekend it was a success and we would come back.

We loved staying at the property. Feels like our own private oasis away from everything. Wendy, as always, is friendly and helpful. House is big and clean, and the backyard is amazing. I'm sure we will be back again soon.

My review is a bit biased because had to leave 5 days earlier for an emergency situation and got zero refund. I understand this is business as usual but some humanity and less regard for money would have been appreciated, specially on difficult circumstances. In any case, this listing is not what it looks like. First, the owner lives in the house next door; while some renters don’t mind, we do as we like full privacy; this was not disclosed. Second, the house has no AC and in summer days you do need it. Third, the house is old and outdated; if you like grandma style, you will be fine, but if you value modernity, this is not your house. The outdoors are nice, pool is good, house architecture cool, but road is next to the house and does not feel quiet or isolated enough. In summary, it’s a fine rental for half the price. At the premium rate they are charging this is not a good deal. They should lower the price or fix all issues above.

We chose this property as it had a lovely pool, 4 bedrooms and was close to the SB Woman’s Club, the location of a family wedding. The rental process was very simple, communication was great, and it was wonderful to be able to relax and enjoy the sunny days!

My family stayed at this beautiful Mission Canyon home in June 2022, hosted by Wendy Rockwood. Wendy was very easy to communicate with and was incredibly accommodating to all of my family’s needs. The property is perfectly secluded, yet conveniently close to all one would want to see in Santa Barbara, including the Botanical Garden and several parks. The surroundings are beautifully landscaped, with a bounty of fruit trees surrounding the pool and hot tub, oranges, tangerines, pears, apples, blood oranges, limes and lemons ready to garnish a perfect glass of sangria. The house and property with producing fruit trees were a real pleasure. The well-equipped kitchen and play things for our 5 year old grandson and the swimming pool were very much enjoyed by all of the family. It was a restful and needed holiday. Thank you.

Even in the midst of all the beauty of Santa Barbara, this is a very special property. Lovely and bountiful (so much citrus!) gardens and has a very nice pool. The house is large, the kitchen is well-stocked and is was very comfortable for our group of friends. Thank you Wendy and Chuck!

Renting from Wendy is super easy. She’s helpful and communicates well. The property was just what we wanted and exactly as the pictures showed. My kids loved the pool. My wife and I relaxed in the garden. It was super close to restaurants, grocery stores and the botanical gardens. We will be going back soon!

Marvelous! Tons of space inside and out, the Hourglass was stocked with everything we needed for a family getaway, very comfortable, and adorably retro and funky while still feeling luxurious. The pool is gorgeous and clean, and great for our kids who are learning to swim. Wendy & Chad were very welcoming, ultra responsive and friendly hosts, but never intrusive. Located in a wonderful neighborhood right next door to the fabulous botanical garden and just a few minutes drive from everything else. Absolutely nothing we would have changed, we had a fantastic time and would come back in a heartbeat if the fates allow! Thank you, Wendy!!

Wendy and Chuck are exceptional hosts, have intimate knowledge of Santa Barbra and can recommend great hikes, restaurants and shopping. The property was clean, even though they allow pets there was no odor at all. The garden is absolutely beautiful!! You can pick your choice of citrus from any tree, which was great for cocktails or breakfast. The backyard was so serene that my husband and I spent the first entire week relaxing back there instead of exploring around the town. I highly recommend Poolside for family gatherings or visits with friends.

The house is absolutely lovely and even bigger than the photos suggest. There was tons of room for our 8 person family group. As well as the pool, there is a terraced garden full of fruit trees. The house is very well equipped, from the kitchen to the living room with toys. The location is excellent, a short drive to the beaches and downtown. We enjoyed the short walk past the fire station to a local park and playground. We stayed for 2 weeks and loved every moment.

Wendy and Chuck are amazing property managers and really made our stay wonderful. Super responsive and Chuck is one of those guys who takes great pride in all their plants and can pretty much fix anything. We spent 3 weeks and just absolutely adored the space. Our dogs loved exploring every nook and cranny. There was so much for our 13mo baby to explore from picking apples and lemons and carrots to playing with the water fountains and baby piano or antique doll house. This home is wonderfully stocked so never feels the need to leave. The location, while not really walkable to downtown or funk zone, is walkable to the botanical gardens and natural history museum. We loved both! The home is more spacious than the pictures show. There is a separate dining space and 2 living spaces, along with lots of little areas outside. High recommended for families and larger groups. As one should clearly expect from the pictures, the architecture and design are unique and definitely a period piece. Extremely well cared for and a great place to enjoy nature and the outdoors!

The house is large enough so a family can spread out and all have their own space. TV/internet situation is solid. The pool and hot tub are terrific features. Kids and Pets are welcome here, and effort has been made to keep the house and yard safe for them (gates, etc). The house is clearly well-loved and well-used over the years by happy, active families, so it is a comfortable (not luxurious) space. The kitchen has everything needed to cook and eat meals at home. House decor is eclectic (1970’s - 1990’s) and reflecting of the presence of loving children and grandchildren through the years. The backyard/garden was a little worn out and tired looking during time of our stay (August = HOT) but probably looks super fabulous in the spring. Lots of games and books on site for little ones. Functioning Washer/dryer was appreciated. This is definitely the place for families with pets and or little kids. The owners are nearby, friendly, and responsive. We enjoyed our stay. Santa Barbara is beautiful!

Our family of 5 had a wonderful 2-week trip at this house. Our three children (ages 3, 6 and 10) loved the pool and hot tub, which we used multiple times a day. The kitchen was well-stocked for cooking meals in, and the huge garden on the property was fun to walk through and pick ripe fruits and vegetables for eating. Beds were very comfortable. Wendy and Chuck were terrific hosts and took care of anything we needed right away. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future.
