The room was beautiful and large. We had two rooms adjacent to one another in the bungalows. Villa Thakhek is part of a bigger hotel complex that includes a hostel, some cheaper hotels, and the air con villas. We had villas and were very happy. The hotel has a cafe in the registration area that had really good food at a reasonable rate. They didn't up the cost of water, for example, so it was affordable to eat there. We stayed two nights and ate two breakfasts and two dinners there because we didn't want to deal with going in to town with two little kids. The banana pancakes were delicious!!! Staff are lovely! They speak pretty good English and helped us with information about a reasonable day trip from Thakhek with kids (we did some caves and a swimming hole on the first leg of "The Loop") and helped us arrange a tuk tuk. The day was great. Rooms are very clean and beds are comfortable. Bathrooms function well. No shampoo is provided, so you either need to bring it or buy it cheaply from a nearby minimart. We don't mind this as we then get what we want.

The air con worked poorly in one room (and dripped into the clothing cupboard) and hardly worked at all in the other room. There are no safes. It's a few km into town, so we didn't bother going. If you are here for outdoor activities, this doesn't matter at all. Wifi wasn't great.

Spacious and clean room, very quiet, Pokémon Go scooter rental is directly attached. Very cool loop logbooks to read!

Quite outside town without any restaurants nearby , wifi was slow.

Staff can not speak english.
