The river was right in front of the property

The place hadn’t been cleaned and there was no heat! There was trash and dirty dishes from previous tenants and there was actually hair all over the shower wall. No trash bags or toilet paper we had to go buy. So disappointed as the lake view is awesome but not worth the rest. We will be finding another lake view

I recommend reading the reviews! John likes to call people “woke” and blame others for the run-down and absolutely filthy dwelling that VRBO allows him to rent out. Upon arrival, the front of the property looks nice. However, the minute you step inside, the nice appearance is gone. Now, I don’t have a problem with a place being outdated, but when you combine that with completely rundown and dirty, that’s not good. Starting with cottage, the overwhelming smell of mildew was more than a person can handle. There was also a window unit that was AC only…no heat in the cottage and the nights were going to be in the low 40s. The roof had leaked and the ceiling the bathroom was black with mold and had fallen in around the light fixture. The shower was disgusting as well and the shower head was completely corroded. There’s a hot-tub that doesn’t work that is quite the eyesore. The main house…wow is all I can say. It was filthy. I was told that the cleaning crew would be in there until 3:00 getting the place ready for us. I am positive that they don’t use a cleaning crew…they don’t even bother sweeping the floors. The dog smell is pretty prevalent, there was dirt and dog hair pretty much everywhere…including on top of the fridge! It was so bad, I booked a different place down the river and left this dump. John offered half of my money back to VRBO but then later messaged that he was keeping it. Absolutely filthy place.VRBO should NOT allow it to be rented!Disgusting unit

Overall our stay was great! Picturesque view! The deck was a great place to hang out and relax. Plenty of room for several people to stay. I will say that it could have used some extra cleaning and airing out before our arrival. There was an odor that was not pleasant to smell in the main bedroom and bathroom. But we had a nice time regardless.

My wife and I enjoyed your staying at this place, it was exactly what we needed to wind down and a great start to our vacation that we just concluded. While the inside was rustic, it was exactly what I expected. The back porch was a great place to drink coffee in the morning and BBQ in the evening. We took advantage of the dock and fished and had a great time. The only negative was the TV, there were only a few channels on TV, and no way to get TV apps such as Prime, Netflix, Fubo, etc because there were no remote to get them or any other app. There were numerous controls in the house that did not go to anything, so we did other things besides watch TV. lol We enjoyed the amenities of the house. The kitchen had the right amount of everything to cook or BBQ. The dining room was bigger than I expected and was very comfortable. The living room furniture and bedding was satisfactory. The back porch as stated was the star of the show. It was a short 5-10 minutes to Branson which was nice to go see a show or shop. Overall we really enjoyed the place it was peaceful, quiet and comfortable and if it is available we will return next year and visit again

Great location, a good cleaning and some maintenance would make this a good place to stay. Neither TV worked Front bath room door would not close, back bathroom door would not latch. Patio roof leaks. Rotten boards on patio, lots of rotten boards on dock. Picture window broken, held together with tape. No response from owner.

We loved our stay here! We all loved sitting outside watching the boats go by. It was peaceful and just such a great time to spend with family.

A very nice location. A/C was locked on 72 degrees, we couldn't turn it up so it did get rather cold. Couldn't figure the TV out so we could only get the Food Network channel, but we weren't there to watch tv anyway. Wifi wasn't available but phones worked better outside on the deck. All in all it was a very nice set-up and we enjoyed our stay! The guest house door would not latch or lock.

Upon checking in we noticed the property wasn’t cleaned very well from the past guests. The gas grill was on, bedding dirty, drug paraphernalia found in a bedroom and dirty AC unit in guest house. I immediately brought this to the owners attention in which they shared they didn’t have time to clean it between guests due to it being a tight turn around. The listing boasts a Dock but you can’t park a pontoon in it, it also states shampoo and other bath amenities would be on site, which was not true. There was ample space for party of 11 with lots of parking. The outdoor space was the best part of this property. While the host was responsive they weren’t surprised about the condition of the property. We will definitely visit Tanney Como again but choose a different place to stay.

My family of 6 really loved the view of the lake from the back deck. The house was nice & clean. My son and his wife enjoyed staying in the small cabin and had their privacy. Short drive to town. Could have used a dresser in the room with twin beds to put clothes in other than that everything was great.

we loved the peaceful and quiet location. the lake is beautiful. It was the perfect stay for my kids with the separate quarters for the grandparents.

This place was perfect for our family. The house is older but still a great place to stay. The property is beautiful and the location is awesome. Definitely a perfect place for people who like to fish. We had an awesome stay all around. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe getting some pillow toppers for the beds. Other than that, everything was perfect for us.

A lovely spacious building with a guest house as well, could easily house 10 or more people. The view is amazing! We had a wonderful time!

Can’t be a place for 10 when the guest house has NO HEAT. They brought in a portable space heater, but apparently they don’t realize they are incredibly dangerous. Temperature was 15° when we left the area this morning. We spent 2 days floating from hotel to hotel and fighting for a refund. Still waiting on the refund…

Beware! This is the most unclean and unkept place we have ever stayed. Communication with the property manager is very poor as well. He never responded to one message through VRBO or a text but he did answer my call. Upon our arrival it was clear the place had not been cleaned from the previous guests. There was food in the refrigerators, sticky food droppings on the counters, trash was not emptied, trash under the beds and sofa, shoes left behind, the worst was one of the toilets wasn’t flushing and needed to be if you get what I’m saying. We had to fill the tank with water from the sink to get it flushed and open windows to clear the smell. When I spoke to John, the property manager, his response was “you have two other toilets” - he said he called the plumber to come out but he never showed. We spent most of our first day cleaning and buying sheets for the beds as this was the kind of unclean where you don’t trust anything was cleaned. The view absolutely stunning! Such a same as this could be a great property. I am in contact with VRBO as this property does not meet their standards and should be removed from listing until they can do a better job cleaning and sanitizing.

Wish we could attach pictures, couldnt stay there because it was filthy. We had to rent hotel rooms it was absolutely atrocious!

This property has the potential to be amazing, but maintenance and cleaning issues made it hard to feel comfortable. When we read previous reviews, we assumed people were being picky…. Nope. Floors, ceiling fans, and bathrooms were horribly dirty. Dirty cleaning rags left on floors of each of the showers. Guesthouse washcloths had pet hair and stains on them. Greasy black dust accumulated all over the white ceiling fan. It has been a VERY LONG time since there has been any cleaning under furniture in either the main house or the guesthouse. Found bright pink and purple nerd candy pieces all over the guest house floor. This lack of cleanliness explains other reviews discussing mice problems with this property. By keeping all of our food in locked bins, removing all trash immediately, and bringing our own sonic rodent repellers, we managed to avoid experiencing any mice this weekend. Toilet in queen bedroom half-bath wasn’t working when we arrived. Realized water wasn’t on, but when we turned it on, it sprayed in our faces and leaked all over the floor. Flooring around toilet shows evidence this is not a new problem. We left the water off and didn’t use that toilet at all. Toilet in the guest house rocks back forth like a rocking chair—might be the next one to stop being useful. Outside door of guesthouse does not lock. After actively pursuing communications with the host, we received check-in info 24 hours prior (not the VRBO protocol of 3 days prior). We never did receive any check-out info and the host did not respond when we asked. Probably won’t be back, but we saw some other nice places in the area that we might check out in the future!

We love coming hear for the personal dock, spacious house, and awesome deck. But a better cleaning job would be much appreciated. And there are so many broken things around the house and deck and dock. But to us it is still all worth it 🙂

I am sad to have to write this review. I have never left a negative review. However, I want people to know. The owner was impossible to work with. First, check in time came and went and I had no info on how to access the house. Vrbo nor myself were able to contact him by phone or message over several days and hours of attempts. Vrbo had to put us up in a hotel the first night. Next morning I get a message from the owner with access info and a message that Vrbo’s system was down, mind you he was supposed to send the info 3 days prior to check in, and he could of answered at-least one of the many phone calls IF that was the case. Once we receive the info we did decide to stay at the house as our main plan for the vacation was fishing from the dock and we were not able to find anything else available last minute that would fit our family of 10 plus a dog. We thought it couldn’t be worse then a hotel. Wrong…now, I have been trying to contact him regarding the refund for the first night that we were not able to stay there and no response from him again. To be honest I feel like I shouldn’t have to be asking for a refund. A good host would of had me a refund before my vacation was over. The location is wonderful, close to a lot, the outdoor space was peaceful, love the arrangement, in need of lots of upkeep but still enjoyable. We were able to enjoy fishing with the exception of the dock had several boards missing making it unsafe for our younger kids. The house itself COULD be such a great space if it was kept up and cleaned better. I’m a country girl and understand this type of location spiders and mice happen. But, mice droppings in the silverware drawer and in pots that still had baked food on them is not acceptable. We had planned to cook most meals and we had to cancel our grocery order because no way was I eating in the kitchen. We did grill steaks the first night and that was miserable because EVERYTHING had to be cleaned and we had to buy so much kitchen supplies to make ir happen. 2 coffee pots and neither worked right. Please, they are not that expensive. The living room rug didn’t seem to be vacuumed, lots of dog hair and the smell of the house was very musky, hard to get use to. Again the space could be so nice if it was just better taken care of. It appeared to be very neglected. Such protential I would love to stay here again but I will NOT. Just heartbreaking to see something that could be so great turn out so bad.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay! Love the deck and fire pit. Being so close to river was wonderful! Plenty of seating. House was clean, all was as described! Hope to come again next year!!

The property was beautiful, peaceful and secluded. Lake was magnificent. We arrived and was putting food on the counter and discovered dried food splatters, coffee cup rings, stove had spices all over it, kitchen table was dirty and mouse droppings. OK. I cleaned the kitchen completely. Even the nasty refrigerator. Went to the bathroom and there was urine and feces under the seat, wet bathmat with tree debris under the filthy mat and dirty shower stall. OK! Cleaned it. 2 hours after we arrived I got to start my vacation. Got home and emailed the owner. They said they were running a place in town and implied the cleaners must have not done a good job. Offered $100 refund to Venmo. We told them we don't have a Venmo account and never heard another word from them. If you don't mind cleaning before starting your vacation this is a beautiful peaceful place. If you don't want to clean find another place. Dock is also missing lattice to keep pets and kids from falling off. Can't wait to see what review I get after leaving this since they have not reviewed me in over 2 weeks.

This was my first VRBO experience, and I learned a lot. I didn't pay much attention to reviews as often times they are pretty one sided. My attempt in this review is to be accurate and depict all sides of my stay. First, the location was superb. It was far enough away from Branson proper to be out of the hustle and bustle, but still only a 10 minute drive away from everything. It was a fairly quiet neighborhood and the views from the back of the house were spectacular. That said, the interior of the house left a lot to be desired as far as cleanliness and function. It did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned in some time. We are country folk so a cob web here and there doesn't bother us, but when the air intakes for the HVAC and exhaust fans are caked with dust it's pretty indicative of the effort that went into things. A lost ball under the couch further verified the findings. It was filthy and other peoples lost treasures had established a residency under there. The guest bed in the guest house was broken to the point of no use. No problem, there were only 2 of us, but had I booked the house with the intent of using it to advertised capacity, there would have been issues. The master toilet wouldn't flush so I removed the lid off the tank and it was totally missing the chain from the handle to the flapper. Once I manually manipulated the flapper, it filled the bowl with black sediment from the tank. No doubt, some of the sediment got on the sealing surface and then the flap would not seal prohibiting the tank to fill and shut the water off. At that point I just shut the water supply off and didn't use it again. Perhaps the worst however, was that there was dried feces on the outside bowl of the guest toilet. Again, we aren't prissy folk, but that's not something I expected to see at a house rental at that price point... or any rented house for that matter. I wasn't even going to leave a review, but when I brought these things to John's attention, I didn't even receive an acknowledgement. I knew that I had over rented as far as size needed but it had everything else I wanted so I was willing to pay for the extra, un needed room, but this was a disappointment followed by a land lord that obviously didn't care about anything other than making a buck.

Very unhappy with this trip and it will be my last one through VRBO. We checked in and the cabin was ok for a cabin, cobwebs here and there and such. The shower in the guest cabin was not clean, but we bought cleaner to get it fixed. I contacted the owner through the app to let them know the WIFI wasn’t working and never received any response. We wouldn’t have rented this place if it didn’t have WIFI. We pulled our kids out of school for this trip and they had plenty of homework that they couldn’t access so they are going back Monday behind. We left for dinner and returned to find mice had eaten a couple packages that we had left out on the counter. Still no response from the owner, so I contacted VRBO. They wanted pictures so we took pictures of the packaging and food that was eaten and the mice poop on the counter, silverware drawer and other various places. Figured we would be leaving shortly, not wanting to stay in a house with mice. Then they said they needed a picture of the mouse. Unbelievable. But I downloaded an app for a motion camera for my phone, and caught the mouse that night eating some of the food we didn’t hide in the microwave. So I called VRBO back to send them the pictures. Guess what? That’s not enough. It has to be 3 or 4 mice. Getting a picture of 1 isn’t easy. So the next day we went and bought mouse traps. Caught 1 the first night. A second the second night. Took pictures of both. Caught 1 on the 3rd night, but my friend didn’t know we were photographing the casualties, and had taken it to town with some other food waste and dumped it. Then the last day we caught 1 but didn’t really figure it was worth taking a picture, as it was the last day. So we lived with at least 4 mice the entire trip. I also don’t think sheets were cleaned because when I got into my bed, you could feel sand down where your feet are. It took forever for the water in the shower to get hot and then it would just go cold for a while. Most of the electrical outlets are so old, they don’t hold a plug very well. Rotten boards on a dock are kind of scary, but rotten boards on the railing of a dock are REALLY scary. I honestly hate to complain, but I don’t want to stay in a mice infested cabin. And it didn’t seem to be an issue for VRBO. After the conversation with the VRBO rep, I was told I would receive a call from a supervisor 24-72 hours from then. Here it is Monday, a good 100+ hours from when that promise was made. Thanks for ruining my vaca

This property isn't anything like the description. Several mice ran across the floor, the beds were covered in dog hair (even the sheets), the cabin was not clean, it smelled, the hot water took 10 minutes to warm up, spiders and spider webs covered the back porch (several students were bitten including myself), the dock in places was rotten and I had a student almost fall into Taneycomo because of an unnailed board. I really had high expectations for this property since it was close to our high school bass tournament launch ramp. Also great location on Taneycomo within minutes to some of my students favorite restaurants. My students were not comfortable and were constantly telling me, "Please do not pick this location again."

Our stay was Pefect. It was nice relaxing by the fire overlooking the lake, traveled with a group of 7 people and there was plenty of room. A/c was on when we arrived and the weather was hot outside so that was a bonus. Plenty of parking for 6 motorcycles and a car. Thanks again!

Cabin had everything we needed to have a great time with our kids and grandkids. We loved sitting on the deck every morning watching the fog come and go on the surface of the lake.

Let me start off by saying this BOOK IT ALREADY ! This place was amazing and so peaceful. With the private dock on the river we were able to fish every morning before the 100 degrees weather. Everyone had an amazing time in the cabin as everyone had a bed this time lol. The cabin is pretty good size with a guest house that is perfect for privacy. Plenty of parking was a must and the dogs enjoyed the stay also great place will definitely recommend this place

Host responsiveness was nearly zero. Frustrating to not be able to resolve what otherwise would have been minor issues.

We found the property comfortable for the 9 of us. Only real complaints were outside garbage can was 3/4 full when we arrived and the hot water for the home is VERY slow. The house was centrally located to all the adventures we wanted to experience. We enjoyed our stay completely!

When I first pulled into the property I thought there wouldn’t be privacy because there are houses all around. As soon as I walked around back, it felt secluded. It was beautiful and the kitchen contained everything we needed to cook. There were plenty of towels and it was clean. We enjoyed our stay. I thought we would be able to swim and was disappointed that wasn’t the case. However, there is a beach close by. I would recommend the cabin.
