This place has a wonderful location near the river where kids can run around and there are lots of birds. I only wish we had spent more time near our room. Sulochana can also teach you how to cook curry and she makes great breakfast too.
It's a bit outside of Kandy, it was not a problem at all for us, but some people might want to stay closer to the city itself.

We took a cooking course while we stayed there and had so much fun. Rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. Beautiful view down the river.

Super nice and comfortable place next to the river, feels as you are in the nature. If you are looking for a quiet place outside of the busy town, this is a good place to go. The owners are a very friendly family and they give the best that you feel comfortable. They are also offering a very tasty and fresh dinner, even if it's a bit expensive for Sri Lankian standards.
Would be nice to have a bottle of water inside the room.

Beautiful place to stay. We stayed one night in the family suite and absolutely loved it. The continental breakfast made by Sulochana's Kitchen is amazing. The place resides on the shore of Mahaveli River and provides beautiful view. In the morning you can see the local fishermen going to fishing. The staff including the owner Mrs.Sulochana is very friendly and treated us with great care and love.
The place seems bit hidden one to the main road. Especialy guests might find difficulties to find it in night. Would be better if you can upgrade the garden, entarance and the name board bit.

Everything was perfect except the lady in charge of the place when the very nice owners are not there. Not friendly at all, she even refused to say « hello » in the morning and would avoid us for no reason.

Great view of the river
Thotupola Residence is approx 20-30 mins from central Kandy on a tuktuk. When we booked this accomodation, it stated it would give us a free lift into the city. This didn't happen at all and we had to pay 500 rupees every time we leave Thotupola Residence and come back. We stayed at the 'treehouse' which was cute but I wouldn't say that it is suitable for 2 persons due to the layout of the bedspace. The bed was awkward in a way where one would have to lay on the edge where there is no rail to stop you from rolling out and on to the floor (there is quite a bit of a height). A new mosquito net could be purchased as there were several holes in the one we had.
