Great hut and hot tub!
We'd of loved of been able to arrive to the hot tub heated. This isn't a free service and we would have definitely of paid money for it, would have meant we could have spent longer in there.

This property isn’t advertised correctly.
It is listed as an apartment. It’s actually a small, wooden glamping pod. Very basic and I would imagine very cold in cooler seasons. It has a small
heater that was just about adequate, left in all night on a fairly mild September evening.
You don’t get to find out that this is the actual accommodation until they message you to say that they have taken payment and that it is non refundable.
Very naughty. Misleading advertising. The couple in the pod by us had the same experience with the
booking. There are also metal pods. A poor soul in one of those had to suffer 35 degree heat when the sun hit it, and that is in September!
The showers are a trickle and only supply a brief amount of water before they need to refill. Not adequate at all.
It’s really not right to advertise these as apartments.

Food is good but expensive. Like location and have liked pub rooms. Only suitable for couple or extremely good friends due to space and bed position.
I booked an apartment for single use but was allocated a hut.
Considering I am a 76 year old the steps were not great especially when wet. It was 50 yds to car park and I did not feel safe with a public foot[path just over the wall. Bed was high for me to climb into and light switches were not close to bed. Shower very tight with no hooks or ledges to put toiletries ,robes on.
Sheet was marked but as I was latish there after an hospital visit and completed work there was no one around for me to notify. Photos below. I remade bed folding sheet . I have had a negative response from the inn but do not think they would have liked being awoken at midnight for me to ask for new sheet . Wood burning hot tub took 3 hours to heat. Chickens adjacent to hut and woken each morning at 4-4.30. Not ideal.

The room was warm and cosy and very clean. Had everything I needed and the bed was amazingly comfortable!
Breakfast was fantastic as was the food served in the evening and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful.
Great location for starting walks but also well placed for driving further afield.
Will definitely stay again when I'm in the area!

We arrived slightly early but our room was ready and everything was smooth & easy for check in.
The pub & restaurant were great and the food was good. Breakfast was also good, the one hour time slot didn't work for us on the second day but we had toast & cereal available.
Everything met our satisfaction and lived up to what we expected.

The bed could do with an upgrade, wifi coverage particularly in the bedroom was patchy. With breakfast at 0830 it would have been good to be a blessing to make a cup of tea in the breakfast room

Beautiful location, ample parking friendly staff good food. Great selection of quality real ales. Dog friendly lovely scenery peaceful. Was not what we expected however very cosy underfloor heating was great. The bed very comfortable ( pillows not so good). The location was very good for travelling around the area.
Slight lack of privacy when using hot tub, nowhere to hang robe or towel when using hot tub. Hard chairs inside could do with cushions. Pillows warn out could do with replacing. Towel Rail not working in bathroom ( had been reported many times by previous guests). Hot tub great bonus although the extra cost for the logs was not highlighted before the visit. Anyone who plan to stay purchase extra logs as £7.50 a bag can be an extra cost not budgeted for.

We had an enjoyable stay in a comfortable pub. The food was good and the service was excellent. Our room was quiet and the shower was great.

It was out of the way & felt super cozy. Good location to get into coniston and beyond etc.
Being super picky as we had such a lovely stay, however the light outside our room crept in a little & our tv was on the blink… however we had eye masks & iPad to keep us sorted so it is just some small constructive feedback! :-)

Bath and shower facilities were brilliant. Food was also excellent, we really enjoyed it. The fish and chips had the largest piece of fish I have ever seen and so beautifully cooked.
We expected a quiet country pub that would be calm and pleasant. It was so rowdy we didn’t even want to sit down there and then it was noisy into the early hours of the morning. A family was arguing late at night outside our window, and then one of them was sick. The bed was really quite uncomfortable with a pillow that was old and lumpy which seems a shame in a room with such a beautiful bath. We did not sleep well at all because of the bed.

The location was brilliant, it was close to all the little towns.
The views from the Shepard hut were beautiful.
The little kitchenette came with everything that you could possible need! Perfect for 2 people.
The outdoor space was perfect for our pooch, could let her out and didn’t have to worry where she was.
The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the amount of fuel required to heat up the wood hot tub.

Our welcome was warm and friendly. The staff were really helpful and answered all questions. Breakfast was really good, the choice was exceptional. Evening meal was very good and the amount plentiful. The log burner was really inviting and made you want to stay in the bar. So many lovely walks around the area.
Our room was the double with the copper bath. The bath is really nice to look at, but is too big for that room. The room as a whole feels disjointed and the shower in the room was messy.
We had little to no heating in the room as the boiler was on the blink, electric heaters were offered. We were there during temperatures down to -7, with plenty of ice on the roads. Lovely views from the small bedroom window.

The only thing for me is that the breakfast starts at 8.30 and i leave for work at 8.00 - i love my food and miss out on the cooked breakfast that i believe is lovely .................the staff offered me a packed lunch the night before and also yogurts and toast facilities available, they cant do any more really x

Food was fresh and tasty without exception over our 3 night stay. We had dinner each night and breakfast each morning. Convivial bar area leads to chatting with other guests. Good selection of beers and wines. Special mention for Marcus who was on duty each night, and a great host.
Parking is easy outside, and Torver acts as a great base to explore south Lakeland. In spite of constant rain, we had a great stay.
Breakfast service was occasionally chaotic, but we were in no rush, and this added to the charm.

I have a wood burner so appreciate the time and how you heat a a wood burning hot tub . Right instructions saying time needed then these people can’t complain.

lovely room with huge bed and lovely bathroom. It also had a wood fire and sofa. Really impressed with it. Bar downstairs is nice and the food was delicious. Breakfast excellent.
