I had ongoing/repeated issues with no hot water. Several times during my stay the hot water was out in my room. And when it did come back on, the temperature fluctuated wildly. So much so that the water in the shower would suddenly turn scalding hot, forcing me to jump out of the shower. A pretty major disruption in the stay. I doubt I would go back for fear of this same issue.

Everything was good except that they missed a cleaning one day.

The staff are great and I appreciate it that they were doing all they can. But this hotel must have been a great hotel 20 years ago; not today. All smells like drug, not enough parking spot for hotel guests; tiny rooms, non-functioning elevator, no dining area inside the hotel.

Great property all round

The hotel's parking lot is too small; I had to park on the street. One elevator was out of service (probably permanently), and the working elevator was tiny. The stairs were very narrow, too. You smell weeds and marijuana everywhere in the hotel. The rooms are tiny, and the bathrooms are even smaller. There is no dining area.

Property has run out of funding - presumably. Unrepaired nonworking elevator; functioning elevator you could hear the cables squeaking; dirty floors, booths and windows in common areas; empty coffee cups and dirty table tops throughout common area; multiple days foot traffic evident; on tile floors; parking lot inadequate so had to street park. Hilton “worldwide” transition and property rehab team there but also completely under staffed; Preposterous food service - on a Monday am at 7:30 no croissant or other baked goods, what was there was left from weekend; only one worker on duty to tend to line of 10 (how do you run a register and be a barista in a busy day, as well as make breakfast sandwiches all by yourself!). The staff were professional and polite and hard working but understaffed and stuck with what could be a gem property in an ideal location close to UC Berkeley but maintained like a dilapidated Super 8.

The only issue is the elevators don't always work. One was down and then later the other one went out.

Property is in need of major upgrades. It is not as it appears in the pictures.

Really charming hotel with a great deal of history. The art was clever and fun! We liked the location as we were taking in a show at the Greek Theatre. Food and drink were great and we appreciated the overall staff and referral for safe parking.

I had a week long stay. My room, including bathroom was clean, cozy, with a kettle and accoutrements for making coffee, which was a nice surprise! It can be a bit noisy, as the walls and floors are 'thin'. The location is convenient to lots of great food options and the campus. The hotel restaurant menu is limited, and the hotel cafe has few options, too. Service at both is very slow. I'd stay at this hotel again.

Excellent location walking distance to many restaurants and also the Greek Theater where we attended a concert. Staff very friendly and pleasant. Despite close to a busy neighboring business area... the hotel was very wuiet

Beautiful old building. Great lobby and cool bar. Staff amazingly nice and helpful. The bedroom corridors are pretty shabby and not in a chic way. Rooms feel dirty. Like they slapped a coat of paint on a rundown boarding house.

I disliked the self parking and the “first come, first serve” for parking.
