Hotel is old and the clientele is sketchy, but the hotel staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The hotel allows smoking so our room smelled like smoke.

Quiet

The air conditioner was so loud we had to turn it off to sleep. The continental breakfast had limited options. One of the ice machines qas broken. We had to track down fromt desk help when checking in amd checking out.

Nice and clean

The elevator sounded like it would break down at any minute, the hallways smelled like marijuana. We were even on no smoking floor. It was so noisy outside with emergency vehicles, motorcycles, drunk people it made it hard to sleep. There were cigarette holes in the bedding. Bad neighborhood. Felt very unsafe, almost didn't stay. My son said the breakfast was good- cereal and waffles.

It was very clean quick chk-in and great service my only problem was that my tub Jets didn’t work but other than that everything was great I’ll definitely be staying again

Called in to informed them that Doctor's appt. at Iowa City was cancelled and they said ok. Very understanding about situation. Thank you.

I think they need to do a better remodel than the band aid they have just put on the place...paint and new carpet is not a remodel...just saying...maybe dont allow people to smoke weed either..pry wont stay again.

Although it was clean it still needed alot of TLC. Rooms smelled, stains on floors and furniture. Bedding had holes in it. The bare minimum has been done to the rooms, repairs to walls etc need done. Our "suite" had the smallest frig ive ever seen, a gallon of milk and a couple bottles pop filled it. Breakfast was bare minimum also, waffle machine that timer was broke. Toast, cereal, yogurt, apples. Only 1 elevator worked. Staff was friendly but definately needs some updating

They have no sense of security and when there are homeless people sleeping under the benches and drug addicts hanging around the building it makes it a little uncomfortable to come and go. We found a crack pipe under the couch the first night of our stay. The last night of our stay the bathroom light was out so we had to shower in the dark. They only had one elevator working, and its been that way for years. We did not get house keeping until 3 days in. The place is WAY too expensive for what you are getting or do I say not getting.

The breakfast was essentially a waffle maker. Very little else to choose from. Location is worn and walking down the hallways smelled like cigarette smoke. The mattress had to be somewhat old... noticeable indention from years of use. Furniture- assuming old, or broken, piled up in the parking lot. If money is all that matters, the rate is very good compared to paying well over $100 elsewhere... just understand, you get what you pay for.

Getting in a little late, I was tired and still had to wait on my SO. There were obvious signs of neglect, however, there were also signs of growth. Waterloo, and the Econo, are showing signs of growth, and I like it. Yes, they need support and I am here to offer mine.

The hallways smelled vaguely of body odor, and the rooms smelled like a mixture of salami and canned air freshener. My companions and I felt that the breakfast options were lacking as well

Had no clue how bad this hotel location was/is! Horrible area of dwntwn Waterloo! The staff was awful…rude and did not care about guests at all! Were more concerned about their phones or talking to eCh other in their native tongue…again was rude bc the guests should be showed that they were glad to have us. Not that we were bothering them. Had a room issue, but they ignored request to fix it. Whole place wreaked of smoking when description said non smoking hotel. Rooms were a nice size, but not clean…would not take my sandals off anywhere…including the shower! Only ‘good thing’ was that the bed was comfy and smelled/looked clean. Nothing else redeemable about this Econo lodge .

There was nothing to like. It was a property for prostitutes to take their client. You should be ashamed for charging me a hundred dollars cause they were charging 40 when we got there. You should give us credit for such a scary place

Wasn't the cleanest room. Service for towels and other amenities was decent. Had to plug up and/or set, clock and lamps.

Always my choice when staying in Waterloo! They have made a lot of improvements over the last couple of years! It is half the price of the hotel next door! Give it a try if you want to save money! Thanks!

Read some other poorly rated reviews and have concluded they are likely competitors who never stayed there and are trying to lower their rating score, especially reviews with no comments. I stayed there one night and arrived on August 10th at 10 pm. The building is a modern 5 story in the middle of the city. There were are people sitting on the benches outside smoking but assume they were guests with no smoking rooms. I made a reservation and got the $45 single rate so $50 with tax. You can't beat that at any chain motel these days. The room was clean and looked fairly updated with a flat screen, microwave, fridge and nice bathroom. If you just need a place to stay for the night without spending $70 or $80 at 3 star place, don't hesitate to come here.
