No blue bins - not eco friendly in the rooms. Staff wasn’t knowledgeable w/ the events of the hotel (ie was supposed to be a complimentary wine tasting, which was reiterated to us @ check-in but there was a wedding there & front staff apparently wasn’t aware. Room was not as expected & not worth what they charge. View was a concrete roof top. Found day front staff a bit abrupt/rude). Breakfast was not incl w/ our king suite(s) & was $14.95 ea for a mediocre breakfast w/ a few hot foods. Parking will cost you $20 +tax in the parkade. We came back from our night out to people making out on our vehicle before security showed up! Ended up w/ some ‘scuff’ marks on the car. The stairwell to the parkade stunk & was littered w/ ‘stuff’. Not very safe. First & last time staying @ the hotel.

Good location, however, it was extremely noisy. Make sure to request a room away from Whyte Avenue.

This is an amazing location and really cute boutique hotel. Unfortunately it’s starting to show its age a d could use a Reno. I also think the front desk needs to be manned more and a watch needs to be happening to avoid people that shouldn’t be in there coming in. I felt a little unsafe going in late at night with people who obviously weren’t staying loitering in the lobby

Not happy with room or access to restaurant service.

Pros - 3 PM check in and 12 PM checkout. Property was mixed and is attached to a great restaurant. The rooms was small ish but very nice. Big shower was awesome! Cons - Whyte ave is loud! Motorcycles and loud cars ripping around until 2-3 AM (there is a lot of drunk noise but it’s whyte, to be expected) Would stay again

Perfect location for dining and shopping on Whyte Ave.

On our first evening we did not have any hot water in our suite.

As a whole it was a nice place but the r room was a bit smelly and it seemed to be the carpet.

Not clean, very high price for the facilities.

Very nice rooms, comfy and clean. Would definitely stay again. Love that it’s close to a lot of restaurants.

There was no hot water for 2 days. The property could have been cleaner and is rather run down. Bed was comfy though. For the price the breakfast could have been included.

The Varscona is comfortable and clean and perfectly placed on Whyte Ave. The staff were wonderful.

great place to stay for a night out on whyte ave, conveniently placed where you can access many bars and food options late into the night, the oversized parking garage is small but definitely appreciated in a place like Whyte to keep a vehicle like a pickup safe overnight. Looked like a nice place to have a wedding as one was happening when i was there and all of them seemed to be having a wonderful time.

Every staff member we encountered was helpful and kind. Our beds were very comfortable and the room was quiet. We enjoyed the in room coffee in the morning and our group was grateful for the complimentary glass of wine last evening. We also ordered some delicious appetizers in the lounge. Fantastic location, too!

The Varscona always treats us well. Great customer service and perfect location. Just need to update the decor and it would be great. For a boutique hotel it’s great. Just run hot water for a bit it takes a while heat up.

hotel was very nice, check in was easy, parking was not cheap though. nice hotel on the busiest street in edmonton, being the busiest street in edmonton you're never too far from seeing illicit/illegal activities.

So Beautiful

The elevator did not work and didn’t get fixed throughout our stay. They did take 20% off the room charge to compensate for the inconvenience. But no help was offered to help with luggage etc. Unfortunate circumstances, but service in general was sparse. Breakfast not good for the cost. Ample choices down the block. Great short walk to the Queen Elisabeth park viewpoint.

The property is getting quite rub down. We have noticed a difference in just the last few years. It used to be a gem. So sad.

Lots of dining & shopping options right outside the hotel along Whyte Ave.
