Returning for my fourth visit to Patagonia with my groups of travelers, La Cantera Boutique hotel continues to impress with its irresistible charm and exceptional service. Bathrooms are very old … need to be renovated

I don’t understand how this is 4 star hotel. And I don’t understand how it can have a guest review above 8. But here we are. First the room is not maintained at all there are scratch marks all around the room. The hot water is only available for two minutes afterwards there is none. And if you tell the reception then they will just say you are wrong. I booked for two night, and could not stay for even one night. We just left to a different hotel. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else

Room too hot to sleep comfortably. Breakfast not very good. Views were fine and room otherwise clean and comfortable.

The wall between two rooms is paper thin. You could clearly hear what people talked about in the next room.

I cannot believe this property has an excellent rating. This was the worst experience ever. Unfortunately, we needed to find a room last minute and made the mistake to pick La Cantera based on the great reviews. To start with, the location is pretty bad. The hotel is up on a hill, surrounded by commercial warehouses. It’s only 6 blocks to downtown, but it’s not a nice walk and the hill is very steep. The description of the services stated a free shuttle to downtown. The shuttle is not free. It’s just 300 pesos, but still not free. Our room was not on the main building. We had a view on a back alley with pretty ugly houses. The room had a balcony, but there was no point going outside. Overall the hotel is worse than a Motel 6. But the worst part of the stay was the staff, especially the woman managing the front desk. She was just plain rude. Everything we asked for, was met with a “NO”. She did absolutely nothing to improve the experience. Do yourself a favor and stay at la Posada Los Alamos, which we discovered by walking around downtown. It is lovely, just a block from main street downtown where all the great restaurants are, same price.

I enjoyed our stay. A ten minute walk from the main strip and they provided shuttle service back and forth at night for a very reasonable rate.

Stay was great! Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating! Helped with all questions and concerns! Room was clean and comfortable! Would highly recommend!

Low-key, small hotel with nice amenities on-site. Felt homey, relaxing and personal. Well-prepared dinners and very nice breakfast. Pleasant, accommodating staff. Perfect for what we wanted.

This definitely wasn’t a 4* hotel, and was really disappointing after many wonderful (and cheaper) hotels in Patagonia. Decor extremely dated, the hot water didn’t work, and the service was average at best. I’d recommend staying nearer the centre of town.

Loved the stay at Hotel La Cantera, service was great, room was great, no complaints. Front desk clerk was always helpful and even packed us lunches for one excursion because the supermarket nearby was already closed.

The staff was great. Hotel location was good getting into town was a walk of about six blocks but the hotel had a shuttle. Rooms were nice and spacious. Breakfast was fine and I appreciated it. Overall we had no problems.

Liked staff arranged time for us to eat early before we leave at 6:30am even thou breakfast hour starts at 7am, also staff called taxi for early morning pick to bus station - usually hard to get taxi early morning

It was a fine place to stay. Nice ambiance. Breakfast was so-so. Also, the room was advertised as having a mountain view which it did not. It may have had previously but the hedge across the street from the room has grown and totally obscures the view. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Excellent property! Near principal Ave Libertador, dinning options were good, personal was very helpful and kind.

It is a nice hotel with breakfast included. It’s located a few blocks from the town’s center but it gives you nice views of lake Argentino.

Nice property in a quiet, off-the-beaten neighborhood of El Calafate. Rooms are large and comfortable. Beds are good, but so-so. Nice breakfast room. It's just far enough from the center of town to need a taxi to get to town, but the taxis are cheap and available. Tours pick you up at the property. The staff -- one individual really -- was the least friendly and helpful of our entire two-week stay in Argentina. He was OK, but we were just spoiled by how nice everyone is in Argentina, and it was jarring to have someone at the "front desk" who seemed to be unhappy doing that job.

Overall, the property and amenities look torn and would need some update. Only one person of the staff was friendly and welcoming, the others let us feel like we were bothering them. The breakfast was so-so. Overall a great disappointment especially for the price and I would not go back in a future trip.

Amazing customer service. Breakfast selection was a bit weird to me ,but guess maybe it’s normal thing here . Otherwise everything else was great, staff was really helpful. Masseur Flores did really good job 👍.

The hotel itself is quite rustic and charming. I definitely think it looks better in person than in photos but the true star of the experience is the staff who were all incredibly friendly, helpful, and considerate throughout our stay. Betiana helped us the most but they were all great and we had a wonderful stay in Patagonia thanks to the staff here. They also offer a shuttle/evening taxi service to the main part of town which is only a 10-20 minute walk depending on where you want to go. The only complaint I have is that the room itself was a bit musty and dry. I was mostly fine but woke up at times hot and allergies flared up from time to time.

Good views and great staff - very helpful staff especially when we extended our visit by an extra day. Rooms are big and spotlessly clean. Only drawback is there are stairs up to reception making the carrying of heavy luggage a little tricky. Well worth staying at this hotel especially for the price we paid in late April.

Nice view, delicious breakfast, comfortable stay. Few outlets in room. Decor needs some updates. Decent bed. Good value. Walking distance from town. Nice view of Lake Argentina (upper rooms were much better than lower).
