We never were given check in instructions to this property and both the owner and Vrbo refused to issue a refund. The host never communicated with us until less than 3 hours before check in eventually claiming they had an emergency. While we are sorry if this was true, two previous guests the same month had similar difficulty so it seems questionable. More importantly, the host became confrontational via text and then stopped communicating when we asked that they send the check in instructions using the VRBO platform. They insisted instructions could only be sent as an attachment to a personal text. Think twice before taking a chance on this property. It was by far the worst experience we have had with VRBO. We ended up having to find last minute accommodations at our own expense, and are having to appeal to our credit card company to try to get our money back. Four hours of vacation time were spent on the customer service line over two vacation days, all the while also having to find and communicate with various extended family new accommodations and a plan for Labor Day weekend in NY. We agree with prior guests that this is a scam, asking for too much personal information and opening yourself up to the potential for malware being sent via attachments when it would be perfectly reasonable to post the info in the platform as VRBO recommends. We have never had a single bad experience prior to this.

My friends and I stayed here for a whole week. It was great. We were very close to the train station which let us roam around the whole city easier and faster. The apartment itself was amazing. It had everything that we needed. We really didn’t use the deck/patio because it was raining, but there was a lot of space for being New York and for a living room and a dining area. The host was great, She gave great instructions on how to get there and she was very friendly.

We were a family group of 10 looking for an apt for a week. This met our location needs. The check in was difficult as we could not get a response from the host. We had to get the key from a lockbox across the street from the actual property. The apt was not as described. The entry was on the main level with living room, kitchen, bathroom and one bedroom. In the basement were 3 more bedrooms and a bathroom. We did not understand that this unit had a communal laundry which cost us $10 per load. Additionally, we were a group of 10 with only 8 sets of towels; there were multiple bulbs our in the living room chandelier and most of the undermounted lights in the kitchen (5/6) plus the bedside tables in the basement. There was no shower liner in the basement bathroom. The AC upstairs was loud and inadequate for the heat in the city. In the basement, only 1 bedroom had AC. The host advertised outside space; there was a small space which was not usable as it was full of garbage and last years fallen leaves. Overall, not exactly as described.

We never got the access code so we were left stranded!!! Vrbo put us up for the first night at a hotel, but we were left paying for 4 hotel rooms for the rest of our stay - not the way to celebrate an 80th birthday in extreme heat & no where to go when we arrived!
