A classic luxury hotel, with thoroughly modern features and furnishings. Located in downtown Birmingham, its right at the center of ao many wonderful bars, restaurants, and stores. The staff is amazing, helpful, and friendly. The rooms are spotless, and exceptionally comfortable! Everything is clean and well cared for. The only problem is you'll have a hard time getting out of bed, its so comfortable! I always love staying here!

Beautiful hotel, sheets had “old” smell, shower had orange(mold or rust) grout. Very friendly staff. Toilet ran on and off all night, other mechanical “sounds” and annoying blue light coming from some device at top of wall….. sleep was not great.

Excellent customer service by valet parking team. At midnight, I realized that a substantial amount of water was coming thru the bathroom ceiling from the room above. This required that I change rooms. Hotel did not readily offer any offset of fees, surprisingly.

The Townsend did not disappoint. We chose the propose celebrate our anniversary. They had waiting in the room champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and a nice card. Well done! We will be back!

Rooms are tired and in serious need of a refresher. This is no longer the 5 star luxury hotel it used to be.

I stay at the Townsend often and it never disappoints! The food, the service is always top tier! Great area side shopping and wonderful restaurants!!

I would not recommend & will never stay here again. The bed was so saggy, the pillows uncomfortable & the sheets rough & worn. I could hardly sleep.
Also my room was not made up during the day. I left the “make up my room” light on when I left at 9:30am. But by 4pm when I returned the room still hadn’t been made. By then it was too late, I hardly wanted to be bothered.

My room was not cleaned and when I checked out, they checked me out of the wrong room. Property is beautiful but service is incredibly lacking for an awarded four star hotel.

absolutely loved this place and plan on returning. me and my partner loved every minute of our stay from the room to the in room dining to the balcony.

My room was put together, but not clean. There was dust caked on the vents, huge caulk was in the shower, but was pulling away from the wall. The bottom of the door in the bathroom was literally disgusting, bubbling up I’m surprised the door even shut. The vent in the room kept sucking in the heavy curtain, so I to use their round pillow to ensure it kept it open.
I got the room on sale, I’d never think this would be worth the full price. It’s literally just the name that they are holding onto. Maybe they pay more mind to the rooms that are more expensive, but the room I was in, no way.
