The room was decent, room 407. The room definitely needed some attention to detail. The ceiling in the bathroom had water damage around the fan. The fan vents were covered with lint which hadn't been cleaned for quite a while. More attention needs to be paid to the windows. It would have been nice to be able to open the window to get the ocean breeze however, the cleanliness has been neglected inside and out. The windows were dirty along with windowsills which had cobwebs inside and out. It would be nice to have a solid bathroom door instead of one that had a louvers from top to bottom. Not a lot of privacy since the bathroom was right next to the bed. Spacious room otherwise.

Quiet room and excellent staff service--attentive and kind. Was hesitant about valet parking convenience, but the staff was great about speed and efficiency, so there were no problems. Full breakfast with lots of variety was great.

Very friendly staff. Clean Hotel as well. You will see staff constantly cleaning through the day! Manger checked me in Sunday afternoon 11/17/24 and he was very helpful and allowed us to check in our room early.
Would 100% stay here again. Also hot Breakfast is included and valet parking! Great price for the hotel room with many perks.

Central location in La Jolla town, near bus station of line 30 which goes to old town. Near cove, a lot of restaurants, shops and bars. Clean room, comfortable bed, WIFI works fine, good breakfast. If shower water could be more stronger would be better.

Both luxurious & quaint. Lovely breakfast served every morning morning from 7-9:30pm . Staff if exceptional!

Empress Hotel is the best location in La Jolla Village, close to restaurants, the Conrad Theater, shopping, coffee shops, and the beach.

Valet Parking included. Very close to shopping and dinning. Don't let the outside deceive you! My family really loved this hotel and would love to stay here next time we are in La Jolla again.

Larry the Manager was great however the Expedia agents apparently did not call the property when I asked four times. Upon my visit to the hotel I decided to get another property as it is really a 2 star. Expedia would not refund the property after several attempts with multiple agents. I can go on and on but will not.

The A/C don’t work it’s hot and humidity inside of the rooms. I made the reservation 5 months earlier and when I got to the hotel mi rooms wasn’t ready.

Amazing staff!! Great hotel that’s very convenient to ocean, restaurants and shops. Everything was in walking distance. The free breakfast was a great added bonus.

We were going out to dinner and needed to iron some clothes, but our iron didn’t work. I called the front desk and was told someone would bring one to us right away. It never came. We had to leave for our reservation and told the front desk. They said they would have one waiting for us when we came back. It wasn’t ready. They told us they’d bring one up to our room, which they did…5 hours after I requested it. Even then, the “new” iron didn’t work. Not happy.

Horrible. I was initially given a first floor room next to the elevator. The rug was terribly stained and wet as if they had just tried to clean it. Unless I upgraded, they would only give me another first floor room.
I left!!
The whole experience was more like something I'd expect at Motel 6, or another dive motel.
