I saw this spot many years ago and hoped to stay one day. My dream came true! Can't beat the setting - lots of natural beauty surrounds and many opportunities to walk, hike, etc. The forest/western decor is wonderful too!

Love Spearfish Canyon Lodge:however, this trip a few things were not as pleasant. We paid almost $400 a night for our room because they charged us $100 per night for our 2 dogs, which I find a lot of money especially when there was a wedding party in the Bridal Suite next to us raising hell and smoking pot on the balcony right next door to us until I called the front desk at 1 AM telling them to shut the party down and it still lingered until 3 AM. I can imagine what that room looked like. The one hot tub was disgusting and needed immediate attention, I watched the young man who maintains them open the lid and just squirt some stuff into it and close the lid. So only one hot tub could be used. Not what I would call maintaining anything. It is a beautiful area and the rooms are not cheap so I expect better out of them.

This is a beautiful property in a picturesque setting. Staff is very helpful. And very kind. Other than a list reservation at checkin. No problem

The accessibility to all the trails, And the wonderful view really made this place a fantastic lodge to stay at.

The setting in which the lodge is located is beautiful. The lodge itself could use some updates. There was an outlet that was not encased with a cover and seemed unsafe. The surroundings of the cabin could be more inviting.

Property location in unbeatable. Views are awesome. Walking trails close are great. Seemed short staffed. Trash allowed to overflow in public area. The place is to beautiful for that to be allowed.

Beautiful property that could use some updating. Bathroom door didn't latch, loud noise/water pressure changes during shower, air conditioner didn't keep the room cool enough in mid 80s weather. Gorgeous scenery with walkable trails and nice restaurant across the street!

Stunningly beautiful surroundings with walkable access to some great hikes. Convenient access to rentals and to restaurant (which was quite good). I wouldn’t hate a newer, more comfortable mattress but would wholeheartedly recommend!

Great hiking options and the property was awesome!

The room was very old, the wall are made of paper. We couldn’t sleep. The neighbor was very noisy , all night long and didn’t care. Kids were jumping and screaming . We left a day in advance !

We enjoyed a great dinner at the restaurant. Views from the patio were amazing. The hot tubs were pretty dirty.

We really enjoyed our stay at Spearfish Canyon Lodge. It is a beautiful place tucked into a remote and breathtakingly scenic location. I had read some complaints from people saying the WiFi is not very good and they had issues with it, but we had no problems whatsoever with the WiFi, even during the busy Black Hills Rally week. Our room, The Calamity Jane Suite, was well-appointed and very spacious. We loved having the fireplace because, even though we were there in August, it was unseasonably chilly a couple of the days during our stay. We really enjoyed the hot tubs on these cooler evenings also. The only (minor) complaint I can come up with is that it would be great to have an option for a lighter (and less expensive) breakfast at the lodge, rather than having to go to the full-service restaurant across the road. But all-in-all, our stay was wonderful! Spearfish Falls down the trail right across the road is a pretty great bonus, plus Roughlock Falls right up the road or trail too! Plenty of exploring can be done within close proximity to the lodge.

This hotel is a little out of the way from town but such an awesome ride every time you go back to your hotel. It’s quite clean and overall i peaceful place. Everyone is so nice and helpful. If you need your room cleaned you do have to ask. FYI
