The island is gorgeous, perfect for a family vacation.
The facility is a bit dated, which may cause some minor inconveniences during your stay.

The pools were great and the staff were fantastic. We stayed for two weeks and numerous staff went out of their way to help us with any extra issues or needs we had. The physical environment around the resort was beautiful and the resort itself had a great atmosphere.
The food was very hit and miss. My daughter’s dinner at Infinity the first night was disgusting (beef wragu) and inedible. I would have sent it back but think I was just in shock! I’m not talking just unappealing, I mean like I had just pulled it out of compost and scraped maggots off. Vile. It put us off ever eating there again. Food at Salti was also mostly not up to scratch. Pizza we tried once was not properly cooked with the crust still soft dough inside. Pizza we then tried at Graz’n was the same, plus a gooey mass of cheese sliding around on the top. We had to go into Airlie to buy groceries that could sustain us with only the use of a kettle. No toaster or microwave even. I ate two-minute noodles for the first time in decades rather than eat at the restaurants. When we’d run out of them I stuck to vegetable dishes like the roast pumpkin and tempura cauliflower (both pretty tasteless but at least edible). The only positives food-wise were the lemon hommus and roast carrots from Salti, as well as the hot chips, and the cocktails, especially the Tim Tam chocolate one, from the Barefoot Bar and Tonic Bar. The desserts were also excellent but very over-priced.

The only positive I can find is the location. But we don't have a choice either. If we want to go to the island, this resort is our only go. The staff in general was helpful. The complimentary snorkeling is big bonus but I didn't really get to see much since I went at a bad time I guess.
The room. I was utterly disappointed with the room. I've stayed at way better rooms for less than half the price. The bathroom wasn't clean. Mouldy. I even had spider webs on the corner of my room. I was supposed to get a ocean view room but the only thing I could see from my window was a volleyball court and some lawn. The breakfast wasn't that great either but it's not that bad either. The whole property felt like it could use a clean up. I'll share pictures at the end so you can have a look.

The location was lovely, the rooms and pool area were excellent. everything was very really clean. There were also some great extras such as the underwater observatory, table tennis tables and water sport activities. This is very well suited to families with young children.
The only things that let the resort down are the lack of options for food and the general customer service. Some of the staff were great but unfortunately others let the team down.

It was a great island and beautiful
Limited things to do when it’s windy
Didn’t get the room I paid for

Loved the buffet breakfast and watersports
Snorkelling was not that good. Poor visibility

Very capacious room, smelled clean and had everything you need for a short stay. Complimentary breakfast was good. The walks around the island are good with ample birdlife/wildlife and the living reef has plenty of fish life to keep you excited.
Nothing! I thought it was great. Swim up bar was good, restaurant food was delicious and reasonably priced for an island resort. The shack burgers were also great for a lite lunch. There’s a pretty comprehensive selection of movies in the room and Lover’s Cove provides a great sunset view. Hit chocolate sachets in the room would be welcome!

Loved that the kayaks, paddle boards and catamaran hire was free! Loved the pools and the atmosphere.
Run down, the beds were extremely hard (we had bad backs after 2 nights here and we are 24&28 year olds). We couldn’t utilise our tv the whole time as it wouldn’t work. I paid for an upgrade for an ocean view but still only got a pool/garden view which was very disappointing, as it was for our 1 year anniversary…
Not a great variety of cocktails or food. After 5pm, there isn’t much to do - except sit at the tonic bar with a dull atmosphere. However the staff were great! 2 nights was definitely enough for us at DDI as we got bored fairly quickly.

I absolutely loved Daydream island resort! If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with beautiful views (without the hefty price tag) this is the place for you! Our room was very spacious, clean and had the most incredible views of the ocean! The breakfast was 10/10- It had such a large variety (eggs, bacon, cakes/sweets, lots of fresh fruit, pancake station, yoghurts, cold meats and cheeses etc.). The best part was the amount of activities the resort offered. Despite being on a small island there was always something fun to do and something new to explore and see (eg jet ski, kayak, tennis, snorkel). There were multiple pools so it never got over-crowded and you could relax in peace. The staff were lovely and very attentive; nothing was ever too much effort. I hope to be back in the future! I’ll be recommending to everyone I know. Thanks for the awesome experience!
It can get quite repetitive eating at the only 2 restaurants on the island so it would be great if they had more variety on the menu’s or offered another restaurant in the resort. The ice-cream parlour Cassowary’s closed at 4pm which was a bit restrictive (especially if you had a busy day of doing activities on the island) and just wanted an ice cream in the afternoon.

Such a stunning location and beautiful resort. Rooms were nicely presented and very clean, F&B options were all fantastic and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Facilities were great and the hotels focus on the reef and its ecosystem was amazing to see!
I wasn't able to stay any longer.

The resort itself is not bad, bedrooms renovated and fairly new facilities in the main area of the resort. But the older part of it is pretty dead like a ghost town, sports facilities pretty old and not taken care off. The snorkeling options are all enclosed in tanks rather than open in the ocean, and pretty pricey for what it is. Not proper sandy beach to swim due to the reefs. Outdoor cinema was not working.
Very limited food options. I was shocked on how poor the options of food were. You stay isolated in an island with only 2 restaurants available that barely have vegetables and salads in the menu. There is not a cafe or a small grocery shop where you can purchase snacks, fruits or yogurt.
I ordered a guacamole from the shack and the corn chips were soggy as if the bag has been opened for a while. Kids menu options are unhealthy and there is only one option of pasta for adults and kids. A vegetarian would struggle in this place to eat. I was extremely disappointed with the food options.
The playground is quite basic and there is no much entertainment for smaller kids besides the swimming pool.
With that being said it is pretty hard to keep toddlers entertained.

We were disappointed with the lack of effective communication regarding restaurants and facilities closure, when addressed with staff got no assistance. Not made to feel appreciated at all.

Surrounded by azure waters, Day Dream Island Hotel greeted us with warmth and hospitality. Little did we know, the true surprise lay in the unparalleled friendliness of the staff, who eagerly assisted with every aspect of our stay from the moment we booked. From organizing activities to seamless transfers, their proactive approach ensured an stress-free experience. The Reef Rangers program/activity immersed us in the wonders of the marine world, while the array of water sports on offer at the other side of the island were amazing. With each moment, Day Dream Island Hotel revealed itself as a hidden gem, surpassing our every expectation.
We found the food menu at the 2 restaurants a little bit limited, maybe mix it up or rotate throughout the week. And on the breakfast Buffet, maybe add more gluten free and dairy free options.

The hotel foyer is beautiful. The pools are lovely with plenty of loungers. The hotel provides special towels to use at the pool.
We were at ground level and had a balcony. We were often visited by a cockatoo, kangaroos and curlews. It was wonderful to be so close to the wildlife.
The breakfast buffet was extensive and good quality with good gluten free options.
The public areas of our wing seemed a little run down and unclean.
Salti’s restaurant had gluten free options which was good but the gf pizza base was not nice and it was disappointing that they used this same unpleasant base as a substitute for crackers. There are many many gf crackers on the market so please buy a packet and learn how to make gf dough rather than use cardboard pre-made pizza bases.

Room with beach view
No room to walk on the beach comfortably
You have to book activities to enjoy the actual beach or ocean for swimming

The living reef, the underwater observatory, the 10am fish and reef show, snorkelling at Lovers Cove, the breakfasts were amazing, being on an island with coral beaches - loved it all.
One point was that the glassware and cups and saucers in our room were not clean.
3.5
Such a beautiful and aesthetic resort! The room had lots of light and space. The breakfast buffet had a great variety and a lovely aquarium in the dining area. Loved seeing all the wildlife walking around the resort. Every night we were able to watch a movie as there was a really good selection and I also enjoyed the air conditioning when it was super hot.
Paid extra for a ocean view room and was a little disappointed when we got a ground floor room and there was a big bush that cut off a lot of our view as-well. The bathroom vanity didn’t have a mirror on the wall you had to walk over to the other side of the bathroom to look into the mirror. Doing hair and makeup was a struggle. The cups and spoons for tea/ coffee in our room were dirty and there was no coffee provided. There are only two restaurants on the island that you really do need to book for for dinner, it is very expensive but the food was delicious.
I would have loved to of been able to order a drink / snacks from the loungers at the pool instead of having to make my way over to the pool bar.
I was also abit disappointed when we weren’t allowed to swim in the ocean (lovers cove) unless we had stinger suits on. This came into effect on 1st November. This was not something I was aware of. There is also no room service either if you were wanting to order food to the room you can’t you have to make a take away order from the restaurant and collect it.
2.5
Lovely breakfast. Loved the wildlife around the island. Great scenery
Cinema was not on. Not much activities or things to do at night. Pool bar was closed at other end of island.
3.5
Beautiful resort to relax and do nothing! The under water observatory and pools around the resort are so beautiful! Very friendly and helpful staff with patience to us tourists. Rainforest walk to the other side was a good small hike in the nature. Jet ski and Kayak tour was a lot of fun! Really enjoyed our stay in resort.
The restaurants - Inkstone was the only other option than Infinity restaurant at night that guests can eat. Food was horrible, pasta dishes were way too salty and the burger was not cooked at all and cold. We have waited for an hour without any other choice and hungry. Two pieces of small plain bread with a bow of canned olives without oil/balsamic vinegar to dip was $18. Service was very good as the wait staff did they best and we were given a discount towards our horrible experience. Pizzas and salads were ok to eat. We would suggest the cooks should try their own food as they were not experienced in cooking and they should stick with easy to make dishes like salads and pizzas only.

Location and convenience to visit the Great Barrier Reef.
Staff sometimes not so friendly. Feel like they were overwhelmed working in less people than necessary.

the location was beautiful and it was very relaxing
the hotel needed a little bit of maintenance
4.5
Lovely, well maintained resort and very well priced compared to other Whitsunday Islands. We were upgraded to an ocean view which had a stunning view! Breakfast was excellent with a great selection, staff were all helpful and friendly and there was ample room by the many pools to sit back and relax. Views were gorgeous! We particularly enjoyed the living reef, a great place to visit daily and just watch the sea life, and loved the sunset drinks at Lovers Cove, too. The perfect spot for a relaxing family holiday - we'll definitely return.
As others have mentioned, food options are not as plentiful as we would've ideally liked. While there were three lovely restaurants, only one served lunch and two dinner, which became a tad repetitive.
While it was great to see kangaroos and wallabies on the island, it was concerning to watch them eating napkins, straws and alcoholic drinks left by the pool. For a resort that prides itself on being 'eco', this seemed anything but. There was no signage or education for tourists around this issue and drinks sat by the pool for hours, enticing animals to eat food/ drinks. It would be nice to see the resort caring for its land animals as well as its marine.

Clean modern rooms with amazing views. Most things are included in your room fee which is really good. Things are not insanely expensive like we were expecting. Pools were so good! Plenty to do and see and restaurants were very good.
The building seems to be getting a bit run down, needs a bit of love. Buffet brekky was a bit average in the quality of food. (Other restaurants were amazing!) The birds that come in are a bit annoying.
