Wow! From the moment we arrived at La Perla to the moment we left we were treated to a slice of paradise and excellent hospitality. The Sands is a perfect unit for a family or two couples to get away to the beach. Walk right out to the beach and relax on the pier. Hop in a kayak and cruise the beautiful clear blue water. Michael, Roberto and the whole crew were incredibly responsive and there to help or set up any activity we could dream of, or help us dream. Everything was very clean and well stocked. Thank you for an excellent stay! We will be back.

The villa was exactly as described. It was very clean, spacious and very close to the water. The breeze really helped us stay cool and enjoy our stay. We would return to this little spot in paradise.

One downfall that was noones fault was the dead seaweed that was brought in by the storms/waves. No one can prepare for that. Other than the rotten egg smell, our trip was one for the books. We made the best out of the rotten smell. The staff was just AMAZING "nothing to big or to small", right Michaela!? I cant say it enough, amazing staff, food and accommodations!

Here is the deal, it is a great place. Is it perfect, no. It is a bit far from town, yes if you are into spending lots of time in town. There is sea grass that washes ashore but that happens all along the caye and the staff does a great job of clearing it out. Is it on the level of full service high end hotel, no. Is it really comfortable and clean - yes. This is the perfect place as long as you are not an uptight traveler who needs everything absolutely perfect and gets annoyed at small issues. For us, a family of 4, it was absolutely perfect. We did not mind driving the golf cart into town down a bumpy dirt road, it was a fun adventure. We did not feel our vacation was ruined if the internet went out for a little while. We enjoy cooking our own food but found a few good places within a 3 minute walk that were good when we did not want to cook. The staff were very responsive and helped us with anything we needed. The sea grass issues was not a big deal, paddle out 1 minute and the water is crystal blue, clear and warm. The view from the house and front porch alone will be bringing us back. They deserve the strong review but I hope you all don't take the dates I want when I come back again.

There were kayaks and a paddle board to use on site, which was fun. We did end up renting a golf cart for convenience to explore & pick up our own groceries (which I'd recommend). Our host (Michaela) was fabulous & very responsive before & during our stay to make sure every detail was taken care of completely. Roberto set us up with a fishing and snorkeling tours which I'd highly recommend!! There is a great restaurant within walking distance (our favorite), and a couple that were recommended by staff in San Pedro City. Overall, very satisfied with this location, accommodations, and host team -- would highly recommend!

The only downfall was the seaweed had gathered around the sea wall causing a bad smell. The staff worked everyday to clean it up. Even with that small inconvenience I would recommend the unit. We loved the deck and pool area. We had a golf cart and it was easy to get around to surrounding restaurants and bars. I am sure we will being going back

It was our first time in Belize and Villa Sand exceeded all our expectations. The unit was pristine and brilliantly designed for me and my sister. Each bedroom has its own bathroom on separate wings so it was perfect for me and my sister to connect in the middle, hang out, listen to music but also have private space. It would work perfectly for two families, two couples, a few friends etc.

No disrespect to the photographer but the photos absolutely do not do it justice. This place is spectacular. They really need to get new photos because they are not selling exactly what La Perla has to offer.

The Villa is immediately on the beach so you roll out of bed and you are on the beach.

The caretakers are first rate so everything is perfect when you wake up. As far as I can tell, Belize has a very significant problem with lack of infrastructure, no recycling and garbage and while this pervades Ambergris Caye, the entire area of La Perla is a little oasis and clean refuge.

All the amenities at the Villa are great-- the kitchen, the towels, hammock, bikes, chairs and cushions--- all of it is top notch. They do have two kayaks but they should add a paddle board or two.

It is far from town but all the nice places are.

Not but not least, the daily manager Felix is really quite exceptional. I understand that the owners hired Felix about 9 months ago and this guy is something very special. His job is to ensure that you have a perfect stay and I have no hesitation saying that our stay would have been very different if it were not for Felix. He booked us into excursions, came to check on me and my sister to see if we needed anything, rented us a golf cart and did a whole bunch of other things. Everything he did for us was significantly cheaper than if we had done it ourselves. The guy is a total winner and with a cheeky grin.

We had plenty of room and the location of the house and view was spectacular. The staff was very friendly and overall felt very safe and at home here. This place is far north of town but very quiet and secluded. However the drive to town is really not that far( bumpy but not that far) do rent a golf cart. There is a grocery store close by that you can bike to but kinda far for a walk. Stores closer in town have more of a selection and probably little bit cheaper in price but for the convenience its great for local beer and snacks. the secret beach is only 30 min golf cart ride away.

We came to stay at La Perla as our second choice. We had booked Solaria for two families which was a large 4 bedroom closer to town. However this property was inadvertently double booked and we had to scramble to make other arrangements. We had to rent two villas to accommodate our two families and we booked both Villa Sand and Villa Topaz. When we arrived we were happy with the accommodations. Villa Sand is on the beach and is very relaxing. Overall the property was how it was described, however it was missing some furniture and lamps. There is only one couch in the living room and the photo showed more furniture. This resulted in very limited seating in the living room. The master bedroom was very dark even with the light on and had to use a flashlight to see the safe at night. The bed in the master was very hard however the other room had a nice mattress. There were lamps in the second bedroom in the closet but none of them worked. Make sure you bring flashlight with you as the property is dark and the path lighting was turned on sporadically or not at all. The property could use a little sprucing up. The drapes were dirty and stained as was the couch. We ran the air conditioning even though it was December and don't think the villa would stay cool if it was any hotter outside. There were many good things about the property. The shower amenities were of good quality and there were enough towels for the shower and pool that we did not have to worry about drying them out. The villa was cleaned every day and overall it was very clean. The staff of Rene and Toshiva were very attentive and tried to meet all of our needs. For example there were 5 kayaks for use but only 3 sets of paddles. We pointed this out and they did order more but they did not arrive till the day of our departure. The pools could use some better and more lounge chairs as all the villas were rented and the pool got crowded. The grounds were very well maintained and they worked every day to remove the sea grass from the beach. The location is very secluded and to get to San Pedro you had to take the water taxi which only ran about every 2 hours and it was $11 per person both ways. The resort had a very nice boat which picked us up from the airport but it was not available for other uses. Overall I would recommend this location if you were not renting in high season. The cost over Christmas was high and did not feel the property warranted the Christmas price.
