The hotel was steeped in history , quite impressive

The Spa was closed, we were looking forward to the Spa, it’s one of the reasons we picked this hotel.

The location

Staff were very unhelpful, except the staff on breakfast shift. The TV was not working until day 2 at 19.30, and that only because I went to reception to complain. I was sent a text on the second day at 12.42 to rate my experience. I rated 2 and I received a text asking if they could call me to discuss my liw rating, it is now 1 day later at 22.34 and no call. The manager was rude and ignored us on several occasions. We have used this hotel on several occasions before COVID and the staff were great. It has had a major refurbishment and the staff need training on customer service. We WILL NOT be returning. Very disappointed. Our concern were, to name a few, no TV the fuse wS missing from the electric radiator to dry towels and stains on the carpet that looked like dog sick.

Location is good

The Spa was completely closed (pre-planned) on our main day there - the reason we went! This despite repeated emails in the week before advertising the Spa opened 7 days per week to hotel guests. No-one informed us it was shut and then lied saying the website said it was (we checked - it didn’t). Also the TV in the room (whole hotel apparently) was out of action for more than 24 hours. We repeatedly asked for it to be fixed. All they could say is they were working on it. Worst of all was that none of the staff seemed to care about any of these issues, offered no solutions, help or compensation. Very poor.

The spa complex was clean, pleasant and not too busy. The bedroom was a good size and well equipped.

The pillows didn’t quite suit me but hotel pillows rarely do.

Car park was ridiculous to get a space. And changed at £15 per night. Pillows had no substance to them. Sink would not drain in the bathroom. 2 men knocking on the room door at 2am .

Loved The Majestic. Perfect location. Perfect spa. Perfect Staff that can’t do enough for you and perfect comfortable bed with a spacious clean room.

Breakfast was very good, sausages could have been better, and choice was very good. Bed was so comfy and pillows . Shower very good, plug in bath a little difficult to get out.

No air conditioning in rooms, fan and hairdryer poor. Had to go and ask for extra tea bags every day as only 2 breakfast teas left out. Conference going on in grounds, barriers everywhere and couldn’t walk through grounds of hotel to get to Harrogate. Not your fault I know…

Service charges Poor lavatory paper dispensers in main toilets. If paper has broken off inside the dispenser, there's no way to pull it through. This made some lavatories unusable. A minor issue, I know.

Accommodation localization

There was no air conditioning which very suprising. The gap to walk from the bed to the bathroom was very narrow. The bathroom windows were old and in bad shape. For the amount that we pay for the rooms, there is no room for such issues.the water in jacuzzi spa was very dirty

The beds are comfortable, breakfast is good, the communal areas are gorgeous and grande. The restaurant was delicious.

Nicely appointed hotel. Very good restaurant and comfortable bar area. The spa and pool are pretty good, with an excellent sauna and steam room. Breakfast was very good. The rooms with 2 large beds are great for our purposes, and I wish more hotels had them.

The show-stopper for me was the connecting door in our room which acted like a loud-speaker for the room next door. Very disruptive when the occupants come back in the early hours and woke us up, resulting in an awful night’s sleep.

Beautiful old building, nice breakfast, comfy beds, homely feel, lovely gardens, biscuits on arrival a nice touch

Parking fee of £15 a night was a nasty surprise. Hotel reception greeting could have been friendlier, bathroom radiator was never on - soggy cold towels in morning, generator noise underneath our room (wore earplugs but without would have kept me awake), no spa treatments available two full days we were there

The room was very small. It was also very hot. There was no air conditioning. Just a window for ventilation The reception staff was quite off hand and abrupt

The food in the bar restaurant was expensive and did not represent good value. Our meal at The IVY including desserts was far better value.

Very grand hotel. Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Friendly breakfast staff. Good breakfast selection.

The front could do with cleaning, broken glass and fag butts. First impressions are important.

Extremely hot water in shower, with no cold water at all.- Too hot to use. Stains on carpet- blue and orange so more like paint No aircon Very salty breakfast

All very complex, though staff were very friendly and helpful, they didn’t understand or manage parking and charging (really poor with non electric cars in charge spaces), parking generally a nightmare Rooms were nice, very hot for some reason and we thought we had paid for something better - not sure what happened there, but if you can let us know that would be great

Lovely rooms and great pool

Our rooms had a no opening windows or air con. The machinery for the pool/spa facility was very noisy and ran all night.
