We stayed here several years ago and enjoyed our stay, the hotel was so lovely.
On this stay The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The location is perfect
The outside of the building is beautiful
Very disappointing
We stayed one night, last minute on our way home from a beautiful stay in Durham
Sadly this hotel could be beautiful but is in desperate need of a refurbish. it felt like stepping back in time in an old people’s home. The paintwork everywhere was awful, some of the sockets had blue paint on and no attempt by the decorators to remove it. The blue chairs in the lounge area looked so un-inviting the curtains were torn and rotten. Nothing on the tables such as flowers? candle? Lamp? hardly any pictures. Just a cold and un-inviting space which has the potential to be such a beautiful space.
Breakfast was very chaotic, and food was ok.
We had a small double which in most hotels that we have stayed in means’s a room with a double bed with 2 bedside tables and room for us both to sit but the bed was pushed up against the wall which meant I had to climb over my husband to get out of bed in the night, very disappointing. Only one chair to sit on. Everything in the room was not hotel standard. More student accommodation.
May I suggest you visit hotels in Harrogate and look at your competitors.
This shouldn’t be a budget hotel, it’s a beautiful building a perfect location.
We’ve stayed here six times several years ago and the standard has noticeably deteriorated.
Sadly we won’t be staying again.
We have a very small business in hospitality and attention to detail is everything.
3.0
Room was clean and the location good
Breakfast was very poor, cold and poor quality
2.5
Breakfast was good in a beautiful room. Location of hotel was perfect . A very historical interesting building
Paying for parking if you could get a space. The bathroom is very tired and needs major updating for a hotel of this standard.
3.0
location good
restaurant plates cold, sausages undercooked, bacon overcooked. bathroom safety grab rail needed for over bath shower.
4.0
Good location
Large room
Car parking
Breakfast was pretty shambolic. always out of food.
Furniture in bedroom pretty shabby
Being charged £12 a night for the privilege of parking your car
2.5
Location was great.
Room a bit tired but very reasonably priced.
3.5
Food was on point Staff were brilliant. Location was great.
Rooms really need updating. Understand that it’s an old building but money needs to be spent on the upgrading of the rooms.
4.5
Lovely location, great service and it just feels very relaxing here.
2.0
The location is very central to everything , There is a lovely park just over road
Housekeeping is not of very good standard complained on the first night about a problem that was never corrected , bathroom was never cleaned from arriving to departure, lack of parking and cost was very expensive ,staff didn't deal with unruly group of teenagers running around hotel while parents sat in bar drinking this accounted for keeping people awake, never slept for 2 nights due to very creaky floorboards and children running round in hotel you could here people in room above us and in surrounding rooms moving round very disappointed
5.0
The location was great for where we needed to be..
There wasn't anything we didn't like, it suited us just right.
4.5
Location 10/10
Location was excellent, room was extremely spacious, there is a bath as well as shower and the hotel itself is lovely.
It could be updated a bit but the price for this size of room and facilities is excellent.

Stayed here a good few times now, alway have a lovely comfortable relaxing time.nice central location, clean and majestic.
Receptionist at check in rather abrupt,do not recognise her from all our previous visits.First impression is first person you meet when arriving to check in. Needs to address customer service skills as everyone has been lovely.
5.0
Location, cleanliness and very helpful staff
Room size and facilities perfect
Already looking to book our next visit
Nothing
4.5
Central location and friendly helpful staff
It’s a bit dated but the rooms are big.
4.0
Delicious breakfast and very close to the conference centre
The extra parking was hard to find and some of the corridors were showing their age
4.0
Great location. Large room. Excellent breakfast
Very clean. Lovely and warm.
Reception were not very welcoming. The pillows were awful.
3.5
Location and accessibilty was perfect and the price for 3 rooms on an overnight stop was good.
The cosy room meant a small double bed up against a wall and as a couple of 60 year olds it wasn’t easy to get in and out of bed! Also the angle of the wall fixed tv gave me a stiff neck! The creaking from the guests walking around the room above after coming in late also disturbed us. I was disappointed by the tepid temperature of the water. Certainly not a relaxing bath!
4.5
The best bed I’ve ever slept in.
All good

Very central. Let us check in early. Lovely reception staff.
Food kept running out at breakfast but we did eat at the busiest time. Long queue for toast would suggest 2 toasters on busy days.
3.5
Location , price . Comfy Beds
The Parking was a Nightmare . They need to partner up with a bigger hotel that has lots of free spaces . Not enough parking for the size of hotel
3.5
Very good breakfast. Stunning dining room architecturally but furniture too modern leaving it soul less. Good value cheaper room. Main problem is lack of parking. Virtually no chance of a space at the hotel. Nearby public car parking also very busy. Constant concern if using your car as to whether it will be possible to park upon return later in the day.
Apart from above also had to regularly return to reception for room keys to be reconfigured. Not just fir our key but also a less mobile family member in another room
Very strangely coincidental

Central, interesting old building, good food, good breakfast, can walk to station, gopod lifts, most staff helpful, warm, clean.
I don't like showers over a bath. Room wasn't restocked with provisions,
2.5
Breakfast reasonably good, but the room was really cold (early October)and the water literally took forever to get hot water both mornings and evenings, I often ended up with cold to wash having no more time to wait for the hot water If any existed. They did bring us a small electric room heater though.
Reception staff really couldn't be bothered to give reasonable directions to my room. They(two youngish girls) were much more interested in talking to each other than me. As far as I am concerned they have ONE job, to make guests feel welcome and valued...failed on both.

Breakfast buffet was very good, room was much nicer than on the pictures at the time of booking, recepection staff very very helpful
parking is extremely limited
4.5
Location of the hotel was great.
Service from staff was very good.
Historic aspects of the building with a modern vibe.
We booked a family room and we were upgraded to a suite (136) It was massive, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. I contacted the hotel before arrival to ask them to book a disabled parking space which they reserved for us upon our arrival.
Vegetarian breakfast options weren't displayed so asked on the off chance to find they had soya milk, porridge and veggie sausages. They might have had more, I only asked for what I would like.

Was very well situated. Rooms were very big.
The pillows were very hard,

Great location - massive rooms and bed
Needs updating - floors / walls / windows / everything!

Excellent position in the centre of Harrogate. Bistro bar was very good.
Took a long time to check in
4.0
The location and the jaded beauty of the building.
The creaky floorboards and the general appearance of the tired decor
4.0
The perfect location, right in the centre of Harrogate. The executive double room and bathroom were very large and comfortable, albeit the furniture was a little dated. The huge Churchill dining room/ball room had a faded grandeur, that took you back in time to posh hotels of old. Quiet location.
Bed rather firm, but fine. Good breakfast, but no fresh orange juice.

arrived at 5pm find they'd moved us to another Hotel as there was apparently a leak in our room even though this hotel was selected for the location. other guested at the function we attended were staying there and said it was dreadful.
3.5
location was fantastic breakfast really good
no parking I can handle but driving into the car park and parking to then find reserved signs was not good. the room was exec but was very all over the place floors wonky, wood cladding and outside noise
3.5
Easy access , pleasant enough room, okay for 1 night stay.
Very cold room, basic, no blankets, very noisy. Wouldn't want to stay longer than 1 night.
