Beautifully appointed villa, thoughtful and high quality fixtures and fittings, shed loads of things to do and stunning views over the entire Champagne Valley as so high up. Plunge pool a real bonus.
The temporary restaurant and shop were well below standard - a makeshift hut with canteen style tables- and unacceptable poor quality food. The entire central facilities - reception restaurant, shops and games’ areas are currently being totally renovated and should only be completed by the beginning of December 24. We were not forewarned of these extensive works. The advertised menus on their website has been considerably reduced and the quality of food was poor. Fortunately we brought enough food to use the excellent self- catering facilities and abandoned the plan to have a special dinner for our son’s birthday.

Facilities were on point and great location
Their food is of low quality does not match the place and I believe they know about this as it reflects on their reviews all the way from last year and all they do the respond and state they will look at it and never do, it's really bad, they need to get a proper chef for the money people spend there it's just ridiculous

Great location
Only that there was no microwave in the room to warm our leftovers. That was bad.

The views were exceptional. Staff very friendly. The facilities were very good.
The restaurant needs to have a larger menu. Check in should be earlier than 3 pm.

The cleaners had taken my boss hoodie and only gave it back upon checking out. Completely terrible! I’ve never experienced theft like this at any other resort.
Further more, upon staying with my family at the resort, the cleaners were rude. Stating that they only work certain hours specifically half a day and that we needed to hurry up so that they can clean.

The service at the restaurant was quite slow
The splash pool was not warm
The shower was very cold

Very beautiful.
The Bell & Whistle restaurant was extremely disappointing. The food was overcooked and the waitress was rude.

The staff at reception were lazy.at first our key did open our room.walked back to reception and they gave us another key.then the second key didn't work and we had to walk back.then they were giving us another key and I asked them to go themselves and make sure it works while we have dinner.
After dinner we went to fetch new key.they gave us master key saying this is fine and was tested.we go up to the room opened the door to find another couple in here. That was really unprofessional of the staff at cayley lodge.

There’s nothing I didn’t liked about Cayley Mountain resort

I loved the view and enjoyed the beach club facilities.
The lady at the front was rude and arrogant, when asked a question she replied with another question.

We were allocated a room right by the playground which was great as we had two small children with us. Beautiful view and loved the heated pool.
After a long trip we arrived at 14:00 and were told we had to wait until the correct check in time which is 15:00. Loadshedding throughout the night, no emergency lights in the rooms. Wifi terribly slow. The pool cover didnt have hooks to secure which meant having to be on high alert with our 3 year old.

Shower cubicle was not clean

The breakfast is too limited and did not taste good at all, kids were very disappointed, they need a big improvement in this area please.
Restaurant's view is beautiful and clean
Breakfast and dinner are a huge no. They need a better chef with new menu's and variety of options in this area. Could have been a splendid short holiday weekend but was spoiled by this lack of good food.

Comfortable and clean rooms. Beautifully manicured gardens and landscape. The bigger pool at the top of the resort is wonderful and nicely positioned overlooking the dam.
There are no air cons in the rooms, the summer heat is unbearable. Please invest in fitting air cons. Please consider fly/insect/mosquito repellent in the rooms and at the restaurant.

The location is great.
The road to Cayley is very bad, if that could be fixed it would make many holiday makers very happy. The road is the only negative about planning a Cayley holiday. The giant jumping pillow is not safe for kids, my daughter broke her toe while playing on it. I would suggest trampolines instead.

There were too many bugs at night that were nuisance when we were trying to rest/ sleep
Our boat ride was just cancelled at the last minute and we were told to contact central booking for our refund!
Plus we missed our massage from Bliss due to quad bikes being delayed. The pool water was emptied and we couldn’t swimming,

Beautiful location. Well maintained. Villas are well designed and all basic requirements are provided.
Nothing we didn’t like

The Mountain overlooking my room was breathtaking.
The horrible state of the dirt road through Bergville 😕😭 and alllllll the hundreds of potholes leading up to Cayley were an absolute nightmare.
I came from direction of Little Switzerland to Cayley.
Luckily I was headed to Durban on checkout day so only dealt with the 100s of potholes only and not that super dusty unkempt dirt-road through Bergville.

The food was bad and limited variety

Views were amazing , room was clean and neat. Leap adventures is a great addition to the resort.
The road to get to the resort is terrible. No milk for tea/coffee was provided. Water pump generated lots of noise. Inconsistent hot and cold water made for an uncomfortable shower experience.
The restaurant options are very limited for vegetarians.
4.5
The view, the staff and the facility
Staff were very accommodating especially the bar manager and help desk lady
The roads outside the resort were very bad barley any road to drive on to get to the resort and they were doing construction work on the lodge right across from us and it wasn't as pleasant with the banging and screaming at one another

We stayed at Unit 23A. Recommend it if you want tranquility and best view.
Spa; Amazing lovely service.
Food; Restaurant food was great.
Facilities: So many great activities onsite and nearby. Was great for our daughter.
Privacy: We experienced the best views, buck on our lawn.
The pool areas are great (even if its too cold to swim). The shop was well stocked.
The beach club is quite a walk but worth it.
Definitely do the barge cruise. Was great (even with a 3yo).
Advice:
Spend some time at the VIEW pool at the end of the estate. Its lovely.
Buy wood from the locals on the last stretch of road in. You can buy at the shop but its nice to support the community. And consider a bag of sweets to hand out to the local kids on the way.
Do the barge cruise.
Consider going to Monks Cowl nearby for a hike up the mountain. Easy trails and great views
The road - a common complaint. The municipality really needs to do some work on the last 1km or so. We drove in very slippery mud but we made it through fine with some decent driving in a SUV. When it is dry the potholes are the only real concern. The local boys take a spade and fill them as best they can (carry some cash to tip them. They make the road usable again)
The temperate controlled pool at the VIEW wasn't warm (we thought it would be heated).
