OVERALL: Once you pass through the very understated entrance gate, and go through check-in, you'll find yourself in a spacious, beautiful palace. Calm, serene, beautifully restored, with a spectacularly beautiful bar and an amazing courtyard with fountain works. The area makes for a beautiful night walk. The former queen's pool is fit for...well, a queen. F&B: you're greeted with nice chocolates with some local flavours. The restaurant was the only let-down; the cheap 90-s Thai optic furnishings doesn't really fit the environment, and the food was nice, but not great; the service was. ROOM: very spacious, with a beautiful all marble new bathroom. Good amenities - but no conditioner! They need that.

Found the hotel very dated. Stay very friendly, area around the hotel was not clean.

Overall enjoyed our stay but there were far too many mosquitoes at the property. The property is not well lit especially during the evening folk dance and sandhya aarti which led to my 4m old baby being bitten by several mosquitoes. The dinner service took very long 1hr to get our food which was inconvenient as we had a young baby with us.

Good property at a good location. Well intending and warm staff however the processes are not fine tuned. The restaurant service (I'm terms of time to serve food) was tested several times with constant feedback but did not see any improvement...it was always painfully slow. Having said that each member of staff was patient and heard us out, they meant well but unable to improve speed of service. on the last day, one of the waiters asked to to releive the table for some other guests even though we had only arrived 20min ago. The weekend rush was heavy and the breakfast restaurant is too small to accommodate.

My stay was excellent. I was visting from the U.S. and I have not been to India in over 13 years. This place is quiet, out of the way of the main street and simply beautiful. This property has so much character, is clean, comfortable and ticks all the boxes at a great price. They even were happy to accommodate special requests including ordering flowers. On the last day we were presented with a cake as a thank you. I would most definitely stay with them again.

The property has a unique combination of old and new Bengali cultural ambience which will be a delight for everyone. The hospitality is exceptional. The restaurant and food selections are excellent. The staff goes above and beyond to provide service to the customers. I will highly recommended this property to everyone. The gym has all the amenities. Did not use the swimming pool and so unable to comment.

We were seated outside east room but the weather wss humid and we requested to be moved inside. The staff refused saying that the inside tables were reserved but this wasn't true as the tables were unoccupied till the time we left at 10:45. On questioning they said that people had reserved but didn't turn up. This kind of behavior is not befitting a Taj property.

A huge shout out to the amazing staff who did a fabulous job of managing the property. Although the amenities were sparse. Just got 1 small bottle of shampoo and body wash in 5 days of stay. Also no mention of other facilities in check in so didn’t know there was a pool till last day of check out.
