Good Hotel Only isssue no restaurant nearby

The hotel is close by the LIC metro station (which goes to the airport and the central railway station) and a short walk to the Express avenue shopping centre. From there it is easy to go the the beach and/or other tourist attractions such as the Santhome Cathedral and the Kapaleeshwarar Temple by tuck tuck… The room was ok, the bed was on the hard end and the furniture in general was out of date, but everything works. In terms of toiletries they provide towels and body soap, and one bottle of water. The shower has cold and hot water and the A/C was working fine too. The show the room to you before agreeing to check in, with no commitment which I find a good practice. The rooms are simple, in the budget side of things, so do not expect something luxurious.

The reception staff is rude and not welcoming at all, from the start they looked like they were angry. We requested information about where to find a laundry service, which they say it could be done in the hotel for the following day or in the laundry shop close by. We planned to take our cloths to the laundry shop, but the following day at 8AM someone rang a very alarming doorbell several times, wake us up, and asked for the laundry. So, we ended up handing it to the hotel staff. Our surprise came when the laundry bill was as high as 1 night of accommodation in the hotel in a A/C double room. When we enquired about the cost, the person in the reception acted very rude claiming that the price was OK, and that it was the same price for Indian people than foreigners. We only sent to wash 15 pairs of sox, 3 of sweat t-shirts, 2 pairs of shorts and 10 pieces of underwear (about 2 Kg of clothing). When the they broke up the price they showed us that each piece of sox (not the pair, but each piece) was 15 rupees, and similar for the underwear, while the t-shirts and shorts were 50 rupees a piece. Definitely not a pleasant surprise and particularly a really bad attitude of the staff acting very rude when we were trying to understand why the cost of washing 2 Kg of clothing was so expensive. Obviously in the end we had to pay what they asked for, but it was a very unpleasant time and ruined our stay in the hotel. So, if you order any sort of service from this Hotel make sure that you agree the price before you receive the service or you might have the similar unpleasant surprises…

Its a simple AC hotel. The owner/caretaker said one thing when i reached there - "Please have a look at the room and accept the booking only if you are satisfied". Since i didn't need any 5 star facility and i saw what i expected, i went ahead with my booking. The owner/caretaker is very friendly. The AC in the room given to me was faulty. They tried to check the cause of it for max 5 mins, and provided with another room without any delay, which was impressive. The room including bathroom/toilet was clean. The VFS-Chennai office is just 5 mins walkable distance from this hotel. I checked-out at 2 am and they opened the door without any hesitation (the door will be locked for safety after 11pm). This property resides just walkable distance from the Anna Salai highway. There exist a clean veg restaurant (Skanda Cafe) that servers many dishes at 2-3 mins walkable distance. There are 2 shopping malls at 5 mins walkable distance (EA mall & Spencers). Overall, it was a happy stay. Items provided by hotel: A bath towel, a small soap, 1L mineral water, a blanket.
