Amazing place to stay on the water! Welcoming staff that bent over backwards to help us particularly, Ed! The location, the breakfast, the balcony and the accommodations were perfect for relaxing. A 10!!
A mini fridge would have been nice but a cooler with ice was a big help for us.

The host was awesome. Super friendly and helpful, generous with time and made some fantastic suggestions for restaurants in town and also organized my girlfriend and I a private boat tour around the lake, that picked us up right from the dock outside the property. Beds were big and comfortable, super clean room, gorgeous views of the sunrise in the morning. Highly recommended!
Pretty loud on some nights since the neighbor is the Bacalar beach club, and they play music pretty loud. I was able to sleep with ear plugs.
Also be aware that the road coming up to the house had a lot of potholes and mud and stuff - so just be careful when arriving at night.

Quiet and private. Also very secure. The hostesses are very tentative and friendly.
Was a bit difficult to find the place. Taxi driver does not familiar with the villa name. Be sure to use villa address.

Eduardo and staff were absolutely incredible. The best customer service we've had during a stay in any country. The location was perfect. Close to town and most importantly on the water. Kayaks and pool noodles for free use. The breakfast was fresh and delicious.
I wish the room had a bigger fridge but they did allow storage in a big fridge in a common area so not a big deal.

Amazing stay, direct connection to the lagoon!
Great location, well situated: 18’ by walk from the center, and the neighbors offer boat tours. So everything was very close for me and I didn’t struggle with distances.
Eduardo is the best host ever: super communicative, welcoming, even offering to use the dock after the check-out. It’s a small familial property so you’ll feel home. You have also kayaks if you want to explore the lagoon. Eduardo will explain you everything when you’ll arrive. I booked the room in front of the lagoon and it was exactly what I needed: incredible beautiful! Loved the hamacs too.
Room is spacious and clean. Bed comfy. Great pressure and hot water :)
You can take the breakfast at the main terrace or the terrace of your room. You’ll have hot beverage, juice, toasts, yoghurt, granola and fruits.
A place highly recommended!
Nothing to complain about. Maybe what I could suggest to make it ideal, is to offer more organic food or a traditional Mexican breakfast. But everything was great anyway, thanks Eduardo and Marilu!

Eduardo and his family were excellent hosts. I could not have asked for more. They were prompt, attentive, and friendly, and made our stay pleasant and enjoyable. I appreciate them and their attention to detail. I would recommend this place, and I would be interested in staying there again.
Nothing, our experience was great.

Really nice and helpful host and hotel team, they make you feel between friends, they gave us a lot of great recommendations for activities, restaurants and local food. We really felt at home.
This is the second time we visited Bacalar and the second time we stay at this little hotel just because it is beautiful and peaceful. You can use the Kayaks for free and get help with tours and taxi.
Breakfast is just good and enough with lots of fruits and coffee 😌.
We will come back again hopefully soon. Thank you for everything and see you

the place is right on the lagoon and not far from the city center. the host really makes an effort in providing tips of where to go and eat.
There was some noise from the neighbors and a bit of a strange smell in the bathroom.

The property was pristine! Every part of it is well maintained and clean. The room was confortable and the shower had good pressure and warm water. The dock and the balcony (2 of the rooms) are perfect spots to relax and enjoy the lagoon. We went to explore a cenote with their kayaks. Eduardo was super friendly and responsive. He helped us with restaurants recommendations, taxi reservations and boat tour booking.

Warm welcome and attentive host. Great breakfast. Beautiful jetty for relaxing. Kayaks available to explore the lagoon. All this made for a wonderful stay.

Everything !! The view, cayaks, hammocks, deck etc
Lost power minutes after we came in :(, but Edouardo was just amazing in making our stay enjoyable with beverages (we got to enjoy, the beauty that surrounded us), brought a light over etc
I am gluten intolerant and it was continental breakfast and Edouardo was going to go to store to find something (it is hard in Mexico) and I requested - a boil egg and he did it 😘, Amazing service 👍👍
The glass (vase in the room) they look beautiful but not really a woman’s glass, requested a wine glass and got one
The neighbors dog barked while they were out - when they arrived dog stopped barking

Eduardo was very friendly and super helpful. We had a splendid Tim taking the free kayaks out on the lagoon. We enjoyed sitting on the pier. The room was spotless and spacious. The walk to the city center is not great but its quick and easy to get a 50 pesos taxi.
Its a bit pricey and the room lacks a bit of ambience.

We stayed at the Villa Marilu for 5 nights and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The room was spacious, clean and very functional with a big balcony offering a beautiful view. The Wi-Fi and AC worked great and the breakfast was excellent. Location was perfect: just out of town yet good restaurant options within a short walk. Town was a very quick, inexpensive taxi ride away.
Eduardo was as accommodating a host as you will ever meet - ready, willing and able to help out with whatever you might need. If you’re lucky he may even play a tune on guitar for you!
Nothing - everything was great.

I love that it it is like a secret stay. until now! Bacalar is a paradise.
In a perfect location on the water and a short 5 min drive to town, and with just 4 rooms its very cozy and we enjoyed the generous continental breakfast. The room and bathroom are spacious for sharing. A private pier leads to a deck over water and a bench w/table, hammocks and chairs to relax. If you can spend a small bit more ask for the upper or lower front rooms that have private decks and hammocks facing the water.
The free kayaks and vests ate wonderful for kayaking. We loved kayaking to bird island, and also the Pirates channel. The water is warm and only 3 feet deep in the shallow parts near the coast and these locations - perfect for a swim as a reward for paddling to these locations.
Eduardo, the manager, of Marilu (named fur his aunt), lives on the property with family and becomes your friend. He is an excellent resource of information to share things to do, and where to eat. Marilu feels more like staying with friends than a hotel.
It was my daughter’s 21st birthday, and I asked for a cake to surprise her. Eduardo went above and beyond and chose one that was absolutely delicious, sophisticated and with sparklers.
we stayed two nights, and I wish we had stayed three or four and spent less time in Tulum, which is overrun with hotels and restaurants.
nothing!!

So the location itself was pretty perfect at the shore, has a nice jetty, some sun beds and hammocks on it and direct access to that lake and is in walking distance to the city center. The room was pretty specious and clean.
First of all I didn’t liked the communication. We wanted to change the dates and the manager asked us to talk about after our arrival. But with the Checkin I’ve asked again and there was as no chance to change anything. He said it’s because of booking and the owner, but I am pretty sure he himself is the owner. We asked if we could have an upgrade instead, but the manager said they are fully booked. During our stay we saw nobody staying in the other room. We missed honesty and genuine willingness to compromise within the communication. At the end a sense of hospitality.
The room was spacious but really dark due to only tiny windows covered with black mosquito nets. There was also a bad musty smell in the room. The breakfast was really poor for the price. We had toast, Marmelade and honey from little plastic containers, sugary juice and yogurt and a little fruit bowl. All in all we missed a little bit more value for the money. We’ve talked to another couple staying at the B&B and they told us that one year ago the price was only half of what it costs now. That makes absolutely sense. Our stay felt a bit like making money without increasing the value.

Poor management, lacks customer service skill and attention.
Uncompromising management.

It was an awesome location that was private. The breakfast was a nice little continental one. The hostess and host we very accommodating and let us use kayaks to go on the lagoon and use a shower to clean up afterwards as it was after check out! Would stay again!
Need a bigger refrigerator even though it was cute. And possibly a microwave? The placement of the Tv could be done differently to make the room look more put together and nicer.

Eduardo and his small paradise are amazing ! He was always happy to help us and provide good tips for the activities to do around !
The room with lagoon view was perfect ! Location is also perfect, everything close by.

One of the most helpfull hosts we encountered, he directly hands out his phone number and if you need anything just text hem.
Ass he said this, in the evening we found out that 1 of the restaurants he recommended, we needed to make a reservation. So we texted Ed if it was possible that he could make a reservation for us. Within 2 minutes everything was arranged.
We read a lot of stories of Ed helping others out in time of need. As we know him now those stories are definitely true.
It's a friendly family runing the business, son, mom and aunt. And they do a really good job on this!
